I want dive loops on my reserve.
tattoojeff replied to Deuce's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
has there ever been a documented case of front dive loops impairing opening or causing a mal? if not i think loops on a reserve is a great idea. some canopy pilots havent come straight in in 1000s of jumps. it may be safer for a extremy expirienced swooper to hook a reserve. or am i crazy? < -
The Infinity cutaway and reserve (pillow) handles are pretty damn nice too. After living with the floppy, no stuffing, no feel Sunpath handles for three years, < < your so right! my other rig is a javelin and i could never understand how such a great company can have the WORST pillows. i feel incredibly confidant with infinity's pillows.
-
maybe im remebering them inaccuartley then. i remeber completly open ended cable housing. also ive seen this with some javlines, but not all. either way it wouldnt stop me from jumping an icon. honestly i feel all but 1 modern container system are equaly safe. its just about personal preference. congrats on the icon it is a nice rig.

I'd go pilot over Sabre 2 anyday< . really? have you flown both? thats a bold staement lol;)
-
there cutaway and rerserve pillow handles are the best ive seen. very comfortable in the hand no chance of slipping off. i agree with the opinion about the ends of the cable housings being cheep looking. other than being a little bubbly looking they seem fine. if its a money thing consider an infinity which is similar in price maybee even cheaper and is time tested. kelly makes one hell of a nice rig. i got mine a few months ago with all options exept tyedye for $1326.00!!!!!

thanks for the info. is the big air sportz crossed braced also? or just air locked?
-
i heard a rumor last summer at the pro swoop tour in oregon about pd's new x-braced, air locked canopy named the "sensei" also jim slaton was flying an un-named expiermental x-braced icarus. it was white with purple x braces. this x canopy had airlocked stabalizers!!! pretty cool huh? jim wasnt alowwed to discuss the features unfortunitly.

Who Lives and Who Dies????
tattoojeff replied to MakeItHappen's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
exelent post thankyou, i recently read a book called "bone games". outstanding book for all extreme sportsmen and women. there was a chapter about people who survived very bad situations. the book talked about the character trait of being tenacious, never giving up was a huge part of them survivng. even when one part of there mind accepted there death there was another voice that told the dont give up. i feel this is important -
When did you go over 1.4 W/L??
tattoojeff replied to frankiebrina's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
In Reply To burbleflyer ; thats cool you put in some info. you have alot of knowledge to share, and now peoplr will know you can back it up. i feel one reason people are in such a hurry to get smaller canopys is peer preasure. i heard alot of shit when i went from a saber 135 to a stilleto 135 w/l 1.3. a few jumpers told me i was waisting my time and money getting the same size canopy. i couldnt beleive my ears. i wanted to go to an eliptical for the flight characteristics but i knew i didnt need any more speed since i wasnt shredding the hell out of my saber yet. peace -

i agree with everything youve posted about canopy progression, nor did i challenge any of them also stated i beilve you can do what you say. so no sir youve missed my point. and ill repeat my point with a question. what did posting im better than anyone with less than 1000 jumps prove? its not your opinion that started shit its that statement. it didnt make your advice any more or less true. can you not see it from an outside point of view? you have absolutly no data entered. but you expect the world to know who you are. you could at least type in your time and jumps in the sport and still remain anonomous. its not like your some cold war spy. you said it yourself in a post, "you have no idea who i am". EXACTLY we have no idea who you are other than someone claiming to be better than everyone with out even knowing them, and no background to back you up. so stop being so defensive if someone takes your words the wrong way. its logical. i respect your knowledge and experience. and im not trying to pick a fight. blue skys . -
that raises a question for you bill. is there an equation to figure out how many pounds of pull a known size p/c has at a given speed. weight of the jumper shouldnt matter, so it seems like there could be one.

i saw an old timer shred the shit out of a saber in eloy this past xmass. it was impressive. like someone said, he was an extension of the canopy. was this the mysteryman? however. making a blanket statement like im better than everyone on this forum with 1000 jumps is bullshit. even though its probably true, its a very cocky thing to state, especialy since youve probaby never seen 3/4 of these people under the strings. why even say something like that? true or not all it did was start shit. if hes really that good id have alot more respect for him if he was hummble. peace -
im gladd to help missy. it would be an honor for her team to represent the United States. goodluck

my dzo joe weber gave me a really great reason for getting uspa liscenses. were a self regulated sport, by belonging to the uspa as well as advancing threw the liscenses it shows the faa and other govt. agencys our system is working and effective. in other words it keeps the "badges" out of our buisness and allows skydivers to make the rules and regulations that effect our sport rather than some beaurocrat deciding whats best for skydivers. that i find very important. just a thought not yet posted to think about.

thanks steve for keeping my identity witheld. im ok with people knowing it was me. im not the first swooper to pound in. im loading my veangance 120 at 1.58. i was at the dropzone today to pick up my car. i dont feel a need to see the crater in the ground i left though. id like to put that part behind me now. the lessons will remain forever.

i am the rag doll manbird spoke of. i am trying not to dwell on the what if's. i am well aware how lucky i am. ive been taking this grounded time to make sure ive learned every lesson this inccident has to teach me. my error began weeks ago on the ground more than in that fatefully low 180. ive allowed my impatience and desire to progress almost end me. the desire to wanna hang with the big boys so to speak, not recognizing the big boys take many years to get where they are. (keep in mind this is all hindsight i wasnt aware these pressures where taking over)the rush and power of nailing a few good shreds fed my ego causing me to think i would be aware of being low, and be able to react to it. the truth is i never saw it coming. i was aware of my altitude but thought i was planed out not still diving. this was only my third downwinder on this canopy which dives much longer than my previous stiletto. i am going to get back on the horse soon as im healed and ready. i have an entirley new outlook on the whole sport. i will keep my attitude in check. i will learn and progress at my own rate. not letting others progressing faster than me influence what i do. im not them and their not me. i will be patient . i cant be sure this will never happen again, but i can be sure i learned from this close call. sorry if i scared all my brothers and sisters out at skydive Oregon. i fucked up its that simple, but i have learned

last weekend on the way to altitude i looked out over portland or. turning to zaz i said what strange little critters we are. building these random civilizations all over the earth. at some point a group of like souls decided to fly to 13000ft and fall back to their planet and name it, skydiving. little did we know what we were in for. we were basicly wuffo's with guts.how amazing it must have been to discover all these "doors" as the sport progressed. getting past the thrill aspect of what we do and realize these a whole spirtual side to it. i get frustrated trying to explain what skydiving is all about to non jumpers. how do you put into words the feeling of knowing exactly what someone is thinking on a two way and get that last unplanned dock. how can you explain this symbionic dance we do in 55 sec intervals. i have to think if aliens are watching us they have shake there heads and give a little smile. what strange little critters are we

Let's not forget that some students are made to feel stupid by their instructors. I jumped at Byron Bay in Australia a while back and their safety officer was so offensive I felt like an idiot for having done nothing wrong __________________________________ thats is sadly true. i had one like that when i was a student. and to all students and newbies reading this thread: its all in good fun. theres not a skydiver here who didnt screw up, or say stupid things. it just so much fun to look back and laugh about it now. in no way does anyone wish to make students feel silly. we were all students.
