Because I am not at the point yet to raise kids like my parents raised me...at least one parent at home...ALL the time, (yeah ALL the time)and they had time for the kids, i was never raised by someone else, some "nanny"...i was raise by MY parents...not a video game or a TV (it was not allowed on until 7:30 PM, and bedtime was 8:30!). when i got home from school, my mom was there...not some babysitter. and, because if i had kids now, i would feel just a bit like most of the people that have kids today...breeders....no intelligence, no education, no experience, just looking to satisfy some selfish urge to entertain themselves because they cant stand to be alone, with no cell phone, no email, no texting. i really wish they would put birth control in the city drinking water, and you simply had to go to the post office to get the antidote, that would eliminate about 37% of the idiot parents right off the top. i get these emails because I am a member of the EAA. "In the early 1990s, EAA produced a video for teachers and younger students exploring the various forms of recreational aviation. This week we feature the first of four segments from that video, which focuses on ballooning, hang gliding and sailplanes. We'll have other installments from the series in future issues of E-hotline." some good videos.. http://www.eaa.org/video/eaa.html?videoId=1568084571 ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?

Of course! does a "powered hang glider" (weight shift trike) count? we had five flying this week end, and a black hawk PPG. the PPG lost his spark plug, it backed out at about 200 ft, so one of the trikes rescued the down pilot (all ok). i love getting up high and shutting down and gliding around, and doing dead stick landings all day long! ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?

well...i feel like a semi truck has just ran me down. Spike had come home from the hospital, but the medicine we had to give him to regulate his islinoma tumor made him sick. we would give him a break from the meds, he would feel better, but blood sugar would drop, back on the meds, and he would get sick again. and even after the chemo, we would still have to give him this medicine...it was a dead end. he had lost 6 pounds in 2 days...and starting to be in pain. we had to put him down today. loaded him up with sugar for temp energy, took him to the mountains to gaze at the lake...he liked it. then, to the vet. back up to sunday, i decided to stay home all day, care for him(spike), still trying the drugs, food, still trying to figure out our path. cleaning the house, i walked by our office, and Daisy our other boxer is having trouble on the floor, panting hard. i go to lift her head, and it gets worse....full heart attack. lasted a minute or so...and then she was gone. in my arms, just gone. so in 24 hours, both of my babies are gone. (there is a pic a couple of posts up of both of them a few days ago) my wife and i are in shock, and just trying to get through. our third dog, an old border collie is at our side, and we are there for him. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?

would really depend on the engine. i have a 582 Rotax, 65 HP, with twin Bing carbs...i burn about 3 gallons per hour at 4500 rpm. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?

my friend has the Black Hawk ppg. it seems pretty cool, and i was thinking of going this way too, but then got into a weight shift trike instead. it folds up, and i have an old camper converted into a toy hauler that i drive to fields to launch. the ppg does fit in the back seat of a normal car, or even in the trunk, so much less of a transport issue. but it was the cruising speed that i did not like, and the restriction of fuel amount (if you follow the rules). i am more into "going" somewhere, the flying back home. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?

so Spike came home yesterday. here is a pic of him with his giri Daisy (the brown one) in the back yard. After being couped up in a hospital for a week he does not want to come inside, and is just hanging outside all day. spent the night on the floor with him last night, didnt sleep much, disoriented with pain killers...its good to have the pack back together. more blood tests tomorrow. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?

you must listen to Dave Ramsey, the finacial radio host out of Nashville, he is on XM. i totally agree with investing the remaining amount on my own, I have always...yes 100%, done better with my investments managing them myself, then handing them over to a desk jockey. but then again, i run my overhead very low. the only payments i have are mortgages, which are paid by tenants. people run to close to bankruptcy ALL the time, and have no emergency fund set up. my wife is a realtor, and someone actually came in the office yesterday and said "i want to pull the remaining equity out of my house, and then walk away." this is fraud, plain and simple. the person was driving a brand new car. damn this pisses me off, ...but ahhh... i digress. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?

but how many people actually PAY cash for these items...in todays world you can put anything on payments and end up paying twice as much for the original purchase. simply ask anyone how much actual cash they have in the bank, and, do they have a fund standing if they loose their job? i see it everyday. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?

i have never understood life insurance...its betting that you will die. how bout bet that you will live? anyway, i buy houses, not insurance. i dont like to make corporations money. even try to buy houses for mostly cash to limit the banks take. but if you must buy insurance, i have heard that term insurance is the way to go. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?

I'll raise a cold one to that. and i agree too. if the local DZs close, it will be bandit jumps if i have too out of a friends plane. regarding the economy. i agree with the poster that stated if these people were so smart, how did they miss what was written in their mortage contract. i no longer spec build houses due to all the idiots walking away from their over re-fi'ed houses resulting in a flooded market. but i make good money now working with realtors to get the repo-ed houses back in shape to sell. in an economy like this, you have got to be flexable and willing to move fast. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?
