Well, every suit is just a de or fine tuned Phantom.

Why does it matter to you if a novice buys new or used? It's not like his decision is going to impact your safety. It's his money, not yours. Sure. We all are happy for them. well I'm glad you're happy for me ... How about buying a used and you can spend the difference on beer for the local DZ? Or you may jump more.

Than do your research.
-
Go ahead! You'll make lots of people happy: -some crowd when you try to pack you shine new canopy -packers who would pack your gear after you have given up -the next 2-3 lucky buster who would buy your gear. Go ahead! I guess you don't ever listen.
-
Clouds are defining exit altitude. If you jump from 800m with a really slow opening canopy....

Its not a good idea to dye or taint your container with anything. I was told that some rigger would not even touch a dyed container even with a long stick. How about utilizing the basic dirt removal process - washing?

Well done! You have saved your life. Just don't expect perfect reserve from a shity position.

Is Brit-speak a real American English word or is that your invention? So why do you suspect that it could be British English? Is this a skydiving forum or are we playing scramble here?
-
Mike: "Do you know what is falling out of the sky?" Girl: "Sure. Rain, snow and f0cking idiots."
-
WHAMMY!!!! "Maths" is not a valid word in American English. So what? That not the only English spoken.
-
How about checking your altimeter when you got your slider down? Does it really matter? How was it before? Checking you exit altitude from an analog altimeter, than quessing your delay?
-
Sure! That's the right rag for a totally broke student. That would cost close to nothing and you can exchange it for 2 bananas and a fistful of peanuts if you don't need it anymore...

I guess you know really well what you grab.

I've completed Bill's "Downsize Checklist" now what?
phoenixlpr replied to doug925's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Do you consider yourself a super cautious? In other contries people fly a 170 with the same amount of jumps you have, anyway WL less than 1.3. What are you waiting for? Its just your choice. Find something you like to fly and take time to learn how to fly that thing! You can break you leg with a canopy WL -
Sure, except my belly does not improve my wing profile, doesn't it?
-
You can beat RSL by only pulling your reserve handle... It would be nice to know who has started this beating the RSL cr@p. I don't think that cutting away is the right time for meditation whether I have A or B...... Loosing handles cost money only....fucking up might cost a life...
-
Not at all! Canopies are flown by a pilot, not a wing load. After jumping over WL 2.0 I'm not so focused with my wing load anymore. I'd like to lose some weight for flying my wing suit better.

Snowkite crossover - Ozone Speedflying

Is speedflying counted as ParaGliding? -
Its not about a reserve. Any canopy can open in a line twist. I got lots of line twist from SL jumps on student canopies. I kicked them out and it wasnt a big deal. I got couple line twist which were flying stable. Most common reason was body position I think. I usually deploy from full flight if I fly a wing suite. I cut away only one life twist which I could not solve. I was running out of altitude and it is started to dive. I have to check my logbook if I got a live twist on my reserve. I got some other case where I got 4 lines broken from the right rear groups and I think i had a line twist on my reserve. There could be a reason why I prefer to have my controlability check done over 600m. Unstable opening is calling for trouble, reserves are not exception from this either.
-
Does your opening position has anything to do with those line twists? Was your reserve flying stable in twist? Have you got enough time to kick it out? How often do you get line-twist from unstable opening? I do not suggest to open stable every time if you use your reserve anyway. Why do you expect a miracle from your reserve? Its not a silver bullet, just another canopy...

Scared of breaking a steering line
phoenixlpr replied to slyder2412's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
How about just facing your fears? I got 4 lines broken on one opening. It was a rented/demo gear with old and dirty lines. You should turn your rigger, who has assembled and checked your gear and packed your reserve. You can even ask someone more experienced if you notice something unusual. Know you gear, that your insurance and remember every pack is a check. -
whats a good freefall time for a beginner?
phoenixlpr replied to skittles_of_SDC's topic in Wing Suit Flying
Freefall time does not really tell anything about your trajectory. Try to get some coaching flight with someone more experienced with camera on. You might able to improve your body position and you angle too. There is more that 100 ways to fly between floating, flying like a dart and going vertical. There are more important things than FF times. A rock solid exit is a nice tool to have. -

What wings are you using? How tall are you, what is your weight?
