  1. Hell, if I haven't jumped in a few weeks, the first one back always gives me slight jitters. The Plaids even had a guy several years ago who would get the dry heaves each morning, just before the first jump of the day. After that he was fine. It happens to all. 2. I've had one floating pud on mine. I reached back and was able to get the lanyard in my hand and pull the pin with it (I pull high so I had time to try once). If you pack it so the grommet to the lanyard on the pud is close to where the velcro is, then the pud is less likely to take off if floating. As for hard pulls, the only time this should happen is if the lanyard grommet is tucked too far under the side flap when packing, and catches underneath it. I love the system. Especially for CRW. TOGA PARTY!!!!!

Pics? Sorry - rules of Nekkid on the Numbers - 1) No lights. 2) No cameras. You should have been there. I know, I know, but I spent all of my loonies travelling around there a few weeks ago. 6. My current mental soundtrack has been "Someday" by Nickelback. So since I'm bored and PWing I figured I'd ask what current songs are playing through your minds? I've had the entire "best of" Duke Ellington running through my mind for two weeks now! Usually though it can be just about anything. But you have to understand, mental illness is like cholesterol. 7. Hey Laurel! She's good, missing the Miss. It's niiccce here today. The entertainment never stops. How was the toga? But you have to understand, mental illness is like cholesterol. There is the good kind and the bad. Without the good kind- less flavor to life. - Serge A. Storms
  8. maybe, but it's a Canuck 20 - wouldn't buy a jump at any US dz, let alone a Canadian one! But you have to understand, mental illness is like cholesterol. There is the good kind and the bad. Without the good kind- less flavor to life. - Serge A. Storms
  9. I wouldn't be suprised if Dave was right, but I'm looking for an extra line in the picture and can't find it. You have an e-copy of the pic? I don't have Parachutist on hand. 10. Started here at Eden North. The best dz north of the 49th. Spent a LOT of time in Eloy during the winters though. It's like a second home. 11. We all do here as well. Welcome to skydiving and the forums then! Maybe you will get out to Eden sometime. I could tell you stories of rooming with Gav at the Worlds... 12. When I sign in under "Opera" this website still lists me as not signed in. Is anyone else using Opera? If so, is it just a cookie thing or something else? I don't have any difficulties using IE6. But you have to understand, mental illness is like cholesterol. There is the good kind and the bad. Without the good kind- less flavor to life. - Serge A. 13. Why yes it is! It's my 1000th, with Peep and Squirrel. I'm the one in the middle, if you can figure out where the middle is. You must know Homer, Paul and Gav? 15. Well, I looked at them as being complete opposites: Golf is "whack....f#@k"; Skydiving is "F#@k.....". SCUBA is the same as jumping: you're done if you run out of air.
  16. Thanks! Yep, I still have trouble with varied interests. Unfortunately I pick all of the ones that are $$. I'm still considering Formula 1 racing..... 17. welcome, but why did you try to get away from skydiving? I did a fair number of jumps in a short time (1000 in 3 years), was instructing, competing, living at thedz half the week, ad nauseum, ad infinitum. Anyway, I just needed a break to do some other things, like skiing, SCUBA, find a new job,... But you have to understand, mental illness is like cholesterol. There is the good kind and the bad. 18. Hey there. I've been lurking the forums for a bit and must say it's a welcome relief from others (rec.skydiving, CSPA Chat, etc..)! I tried to (gulp!) get away from jumping for awhile, restarted the golf game and was doing quite well until I discovered my handicap was more than a number..... Anyway, I ended up at Gold Coast in Mississippi on a work related trip and renewed the interest. The place is great, the people are fantastic! I'll be hanging around this URL for a bit... 19. About a dozen times: some as a JM for student refusals; some for ceiling; three or four times in the otter, just to experience the descent and beating the jumpers to the ground! 20. 1. What happend Getting cocky (around jump 250) and started doing more radical hooks, including 360's. I was heading downwind fairly low and I'd be damned! if I was not going to land into the wind. Pulled front riser to come around the corner, never let go of it until impact. 2. Canopy Lightning 126 3. Wingload Approx. 1.6 4. Experience (canopys) ZP 145, Stiletto 120, Lightning 126 5. Number of jumps 255 is the one that did me 6. Damage done Landed on face at the main landing area at Eloy and bounced. Took off most of the skin on my face, sprained my neck (cervical sprain), bruised my femur, nothing broken (although given the response of the spectators, they thought I'd bought it). 7. Cost My pride. The rest (about $4000) covered through insurance. 8. Down time One week, believe it or not. Jumped (very carefully!) on New Year's Day. I was very, very lucky that day. I see similar things happen at every dz I've been to and I still remember the pain. I learned from it and hope that those watching did as well. 21. I just recently flew Continental from Edmonton to New Orleans, with my rig in a carryon bag designed for it. No problems at all through US Customs, with the TSA, or coming back through to Canada. The only comment a TSA officer had in Houston for the connecting flight was that I was crazy. No one even suggested opening anything. Maybe I was just lucky not having any hassles, but it's good to see USPA is going a bit further to make it so. 22. Skydiving Legend #1 - THE GULCH My favorite t-shirt is one I bought from Chet Poland in 1981, 'The Gulch Lurks', showing a disembodied hand reaching out of the pea gravel holding a ripcord... Legend had it that there was a jumper at the Gulch who had such an appendage that he carried around with him to show wuffos and pose in pictures, etc. ... Anyone know if this is true? Yup! Apparently it was some pilot who went in with his plane. His body disintegrated, but the right forearm was mummified or some other such thing. 23. Anyone I've talked to seems to think it came from Lost Prairie, MT, around 1980? "Hooray for Larry, hooray at last. Hooray for Larry, he's a horse's ass. Him, him. F*&k him!" At least it seems to be a pretty popular thing at the boogie every year. But you have to understand, mental illness is like cholesterol. There is the good kind and the bad. 24. Personally I would rather have complete control of my toggles while in a leg grip. If the grip is set up properly (with one person's feet under each armpit of the other; the other guy with a cross-leg over the belly of the other) than an easy release is there when you need it.
