  1. >If the FFers all pull low, and the RWers all pull higher,*** QuoteBut Bill in real life RW's break off lower and generally pull lower than FF. What separation? Oh ya I learned that the hard way long ago. I also learned that as long as a FF is open under 3,500 ft and is flying under canopy directly under the center of an 8 way RW in freefall. The 8way would miss the FF'rs open canopy, resulting in a spectacular show for the FF'er!
  2. As a CRW dog who has performed many downplanes I feel very prepared for 2 out scenario if they were able to downplane. Prior to cutting away i'll make certain that there is atleast one canopies width of airspace between the two, kick off a shoe, cutaway, get reserve toggles, unstow brakes if i'm above 50 feet, prepare to flare, flare, land safely. Find freebag and main, inspect and pack and be on the next load. Have a cold beer after sunset load.
  3. This is from a CRW dog. As you release from dowmplane, kick off one shoe.
  4. Look like stainless. HMA/vectran and brass = holes in brass. Stainless? Have seen many HMA/vectran/stainless w/no holes. That damage is wierd. i'd sure like to know 'what's up with that?'
  5. Need a Pack Volume Displacement Mod for your rig. PM me. Might be able to help you.
  6. way 2 go! informal, effective, and free.Good to hear of skydivers working together to increase safety, for the love of the sport.
  7. Several teams this past year were interested in taking on a relatively 'new' cameraman on as a teammate to train. Especially if the cameraman was satisfied with just his slot being covered in sort of a trade for gaining the experience. However you go about it HAVE FUN!
  8. Try it! Just go for it! Several times on the same jump if doing solo maintain altitude awareness of course. Ever watched any good freestylist video? Some videos it's easy to pinpoint what part of the body was used to initiate the move and recover. Try this for starters, sitfly neutral, only kick both legs directly to your side. i mean straighten legs to the side so they really catch air. As your legs catch air and your going upside down, ball up, stop in the sitfly. Recap: start sitfly neutral, extend both legs directly to side, ball up , sitfly. If at 1st you don't succeed, try again. It is easy to rotate either forward or back of your shoulder which will cause a turn and slight disorientation. When doing 2 way starting from sit if facing off, initially speed up(quick stand),cartwheel, speed up, adjust levels.
  9. Yesterday a fella ask me if i'd ever been pie'd. I said how many times? Have you ever had a case 'o beer poured over your head? He and his buddy never heard of such an occasion.'What a waist of beer' one said. Told him that 'I assure you it is not a waist 'o beer'. Went on to explain SCR and resulting ceremony. I invited them to go to Texas for the Skyfest '06 to find out all about it. Garanteed to have a good time!

    FF vs. Swimming

Good feet fly trainer, I like it. Have simulated flight while in water, not using swimmies on the feet /legs though. Had a little different flight today while in the water while surfing in 6-8ft surf. Had lot of speed after a cutback and pumping down the line, dropped to bottom of face and did bottom turn up face off the lip into the air in a tracking barrel roll 5-6ft in the air. Yahoo! Surfer tracking trainer.
  11. I agree. 1st 6 jumps static line. Much of groundschool was canopy mals and flying/landing parachute. Freefall was less emphasized. Spotting/PLF/Mals/Flying/Landing strongly taught. AFF much freefall. Although AFF program is a well constructed taught program, still think it is too much going for some to be really good at flying the canopy vs. static line.
  12. Thanks to all of you who posted since my last post. Just yesterday I met a jumper that had met previously in the landing area when he had under 30 jumps. 1st he reminded me that I yelled at him for lack of separation upon opening. Then he said i did'nt really yell, got the point across nicely. He had exited after my 2 way ff. Like Nelsons posting, ask for 10 get 5. 45 degrees too. He and my 2nd opened facing away from each other very close, hers did a turn, as my 2nd 1st saw him above her and just to the side. Neither realized they had been closer upon opening. He became a better skydiver that day. Would like to know more about the ease of use of the chart.
  13. Yes, result, I'm still here. With left toggle in tow, toggle wrapped the bridle above bag once p/c was thrown. Did'nt know it at the time, did know deployment was very different. risers crossed. Spread risers to either side of my head looked up (1st mistake, curiosity knowing it definately ewas'nt right)at what appeared to be baglock. Shook risers to free baglock, bag began spinning let go of risers looking for handles( 2nd mistake). At this point i was standing more upright for sure. Right riser link ends appeared to by my waist, slack lines danced in front of my face. Oh, did i mention the full rack of cameras and bitch'n ring site? Uh oh! So my answer for that particular baglock type mal is yes, baglock stood me up and i sped up.
  14. Could'nt agree more. Would'nt mind seeing changes such as special ratings for repair work to be attached to the riggers certificate. Such as adding type ratings, must qualify with experience and signed off by person holding such rating. Young rigger had finally talked me into helping them w/linekit for their own main. Helped young rigger make and install lineset for their own main one time (one day)without charging for it, they then became the expert by the next day. They took the expertise for granted. Especially thinking that all it takes is one day, one lineset to become qualified to do such. Seems like linesets are a free for all w/o any sort of ways to qualify.
  15. Your right about the alterations and repairs. I'd think there are more rigger that are good packers than riggers who also can do good repairs.Have become good at repairing others repairs as well. I'll try and ask around and find out the rationale of 100/100.
  16. Met a Canadian Master Rigger that says his test included making a main parachute and jumping it. Ever heard of a testing in Canada requiring as much. Provided materials and workspace i would'nt have a problem with that. Your experience in factories is one of the greatest assets a rigger could have and time doing rigging /packing. I'd like to know more about Canada's Master Rigger test. Sounds like good proficiency requirements. Similar to U.S.
  17. Still no simple solution. That makes this thread a waist of time. Thanks for the chart and ideas on how to create separation between jumpers.
  18. Good going on getting the riggers at Eloy to assist you. I'd keep it up, when it comes to your gear, use a rigger. Have seen the result of a toggles coming off at the worst time from ill rigging ,mainly by the jumper. Seems easy to attach a toggle, is also easy to mess up. ( just an example of why to ask/use a rigger for all gear needs)
  19. What Mel said. I went for the Seat type, packed several kinds of seat packs. You will see many more of them than chest, unless your military. I cring at the thought of riggers getting the Master Rigger ticket by packing Racer rigs logging them as chest. Did they really qaulify?
  20. Sounds like some FUN time ladies. Any idea if they sent the stuff to Bill for the SCR patch and goodies?
  21. Read the current SIM. Read the info on PD's website. Read Brian Germain's books. Read Scott Millers info. For those who do and do not wish to pay for a coach there IS FREE INFO. I used to coach for SDU, the program had canopy coaching involved with each jump. Was effective in gaining the skills to keep from breaking oneself. Canopy Coaches: Good.you are still the pilot/jumper who ultimately will be landing the parachute.Even while being coached, a jumper still can break themselves, seen it happen. AFF gives a jumper the basics and extra info such as the SIM to continue learning. My suggestion: Read and observe others flying. If you'd like to know more of what things to observe, ask me.
  22. Ahhhh! Got it. 2 totally different jumps. Have fun!
  23. The song 'freefallin' by Tom Petty. hehehehehe Who has'nt used that one on Tandem videos. People still request it! Not favorite any more though. Beastie Boys has some good ones i like.
