  1. First off, the Lens and the CCD are two separate items, but are the two main items that contribute to the quality of the video recorded by the camera. Lens by far the most important one. On the subject of CCDs, I would choose a good 3-chip camcorder over a good one-chipper any day, for generally less "stairstepping", often a little sharper picture, more saturated color, better ability to render good skin-tone and foliage greens, better ability to handle color balance and saturation in shadow areas, and better ability to show color in colored lights against dark backgrounds. I was shooting at the weekend with a SONY DSR-250P and the quality was amazing, especially in low light, although I woudn't reccomend mounting one on your helmet.. That said, you can really improve single CCD footage in post with some colour balance, saturation and gain. As for "broadcast quality" it is if a broadcaster will use it. The requirements for an acceptable news clip are VASTLY different from those for an entertainment show, a documentary, interview show, etc. For news almost anything goes as long as the content is compelling. If your intent is to get a production "on the air" it is worth a phone call to the broadcasters and post production houses in your area to find out what is ‘broadcast’ quality in their world. ----------------------------------------------------------- --+ There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.. --+
  2. . Gonna have to hit you up on this one Dave.... What’s a "difficult movie"??? Ulead MS7 is a more then capable product, and whilst yes you are correct it isn’t quite as powerful as Adobe, I would be surprised if many people here would ever find themselves restricted by it functionality… -Oli ----------------------------------------------------------- --+ There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.. --+
  3. I use Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5 in conjunction with Adobe Aftereffects, Photoshop and Encore. If you are using a PC Premiere Pro is about as good as it gets, unless you are going to spend the money on an Avid system. As for running it on a laptop Avid “Express” should run fine, providing its fairly new machine. Premiere Pro is the Industry Standard for the PC, and as result has full industry support, which means there are seemingly endless plugins, training, and books. Prior to using Premiere pro, I used Ulead for a while, and although it doesn’t have the functionality that PPro has, e.g. there is no frame bending function, which is important when you slow down or speed up footage. It is however more then suitable for the beginner/intermediate editor. Most people simply say get PPro or Avid, whilst they don’t or never will come close to driving Ulead to its limits…. My recommendation is Ulead MediaStudio 7, because it is a powerful, feature-rich product that really gives Premiere a run for its money it is simple to begin to use, and will give you all the functionality that you need, at a much less cost then Premiere or Avid, plus it now supports HD. Sony's Vegas is a capable video editing product. It has all the bells and whistles you'd expect in a high-end video editing package, however for this kind of money, I'd recommend investing in the industry standard. And that, of course, is Adobe Premiere Pro for Windows users, or, for Mac users, FinalCut Pro. -Oli ----------------------------------------------------------- --+ There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.. --+
  4. "Intelligent design” is the Judeo-Christian version of creation; there are plenty of other possibilities that could also vie for equal consideration. For example, the Hindus have creation beginning all over again at the end of each "kalpa" — a single day to Brahma — brought about by flames from the fangs of Sesha, a serpent. The Maori culture insists that New Zealand was dragged into existence from the bottom of the ocean. Shinto doctrine says that the world began with a giant reed from chaos that somehow became the god Kuni-Toko-Tachi, followed by Yin and Yang, the "Fertile Pair" who peopled the Earth; talk about being busy! The Hindus have several creation stories; one is of the World Egg, another is that the giant Purusha was killed by other gods, and his various body parts became parts of the Earth; I won't dwell on details. Greek stories say that Nyx, a giant bird with black wings, was impregnated by other gods, then laid a silver egg, and that gave us the Earth. In old Egypt, there was a really big Cosmic Egg from somewhere, and before that the Sumerians believed that at a drunken party, Nimnah — Mother Earth — fashioned humans out of clay; the inebriety was responsible for her fumbling, and thus for our imperfections. All of these sound just as good as the Christian views, to me.. ----------------------------------------------------------- --+ There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.. --+
  5. No, not proving anything, but presenting an analagous situation, and the theory that it shows. ok so if we replace the F4 with say a paper airplane, then we still present a "analagous situation" but can you see how ridiculous it gets... The argument was that because an F4 flown into a reinforced container at high speed totally disintigrated, then the same should apply for a 757.... ----------------------------------------------------------- --+ There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.. --+
  6. Im not trying to call conspiracy here, im just stating that if you are going argue the fact at least use information, or facts that are relavent. Comparing an F4 to a 757 is not proving anything.. ----------------------------------------------------------- --+ There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.. --+
  7. Interestingly Ben Chertoff, the chief editor of the popular science piece, is cousins with Michael Chertoff, the new Secretery of Homeland Security, an agency which owes its very existence to the establishment version of the 9/11 attack. An F4 is considerable smaller then a 757.... ----------------------------------------------------------- --+ There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.. --+

    Exit Help..

tried again at the weekend, with some degree of success. As suggested launched into the prop. However this time as we exited, flyer1 went into a back track position with his legs together holding my back foot in place between his legs. This help stop my back foot floating of the door so much.. ----------------------------------------------------------- --+ There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.. --+

  11. It is compressed, I used the Divx codec, I know the file size is big, but I wanted to keep a level of picture and sound quality. Besides most people have BB these days so 115MB shouldn't take to long to download.. ----------------------------------------------------------- --+ There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.. --+

    Exit Help..

We tried that to start with, but found it very unstable, so we switched to exiting towards tail, as you would on a sky board... ----------------------------------------------------------- --+ There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.. --+

    Exit Help..

Has anyone tried the following exit, and if so can you offer some advice… Basically the idea is that one person exits on their back with the other person standing on there chest, with the result of person 1 being surfed….. I tried this about 6 times on the weekend, and reckon it is possible, although we didn’t manage to pull it off. The way we attempted it was to have flyer1 (exiting a twin otter) with his back to the tail half out of the door, flyer2 would have his right foot under flyer1 chest strap and holding onto their harness at the shoulders, and then exit. Flyer1 would go into a back track with flyer1 leaning forward with arms out as if taking a head up freefly exit. We found that on most exits that we would turn 180 on exit, and that flyer2 (me) found it almost impossible to keep left leg in position, whilst right leg was held in by chest strap, resulting in left leg trailing behind, and making us unstable….. So has anyone pulled this exit off? And how would you start to train for it? -Oli ----------------------------------------------------------- --+ There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.. --+
