  1. “In year 2020 the developing nations consumed 82% of all global coal use with China alone consuming 54% of the world’s coal. China was the only nation in the world that increased both energy use and emissions in pandemic year 2020. The U.S. and EU have not contributed to the increasing level of global emissions over the last 15 years. In fact, these nations reduced emissions during this time period by many billions of metric tons. Yet global emissions have continued to dramatically climb ever higher by many more billions of tons driven exclusively by the increased use and unstoppable growth of fossil fuel energy by the world’s developing nations.” I’ll say it again, all we have done is export our manufacturing, emissions, jobs and money to China and others. We shut down a cement plant or steel mill, lay off thousands of workers, pat ourselves on the back for “saving the planet” then just buy that cement and steel from China. (Which happens to be cheaper because of lax environmental protections and the use of slave labor)
  2. Wrong thread, this is about Biden, not the bad orange man living in your head.
  3. How so? I said there is confusion around COVID messaging. Clearly that is the case.
  4. The politicals in the White House slow walked and down played the CDC’s masking recommendation because it would make them look bad. They have also badmouthed the press for overstating the dangers of the delta variant. https://www.cnn.com/2021/07/30/media/variant-media-coverage-white-house/index.html The result was confused messaging. IOW the White House was/is playing politics with COVID.
  5. You have know your audience. Do you really believe Biden is an effective communicator.
  6. More quotes, this time from Forbes “As reported by Washington Post on Friday, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s latest findings and recommendations about the delta variant are at odds with the White House’s messaging about Covid-19…. The apparent failure or initial reluctance by the White House to provide current, straightforward and consistent information about the coronavirus crisis could give new ammunition to those who are opposed to vaccines and further hamper efforts to get the entire U.S. population vaccinated as soon as possible.” From CNN “As the status of Covid-19 in the US has changed quickly in the last few weeks with the rise of the highly contagious Delta variant, the messages coming from public health officials inside the Biden administration have sometimes been muddled or contradictory. Those changing messages have led to questions about whether public health officials are all on the same page and caused confusion in a public that was hoping to move on from the pandemic.”
  7. From politico (hardly right wing) “Americans are losing patience with the ever-shifting orders coming down from the federal government, making it increasingly difficult to convince people to return to public health precautions like mask wearing, POLITICO’s Dan Goldberg and Erin Banco report… It was just months ago that the CDC triumphantly dropped its mask-wearing recommendations. And up until recently, health officials were still insisting that the vaccines offered near-total protection. Now masking requirements are suddenly back, driven by new evidence even the vaccinated can pass on the virus. It’s a whipsaw that’s provided fodder for critics and contributed to rising tensions within the administration.” I rest my case.
  8. Not me, I’m fully vaccinated and I encourage my friends to do the same. It just sucks that “leaders” like Harris and Cuomo turned it into a political football, and now people are dying as a result.
  9. Maybe if their funds were cut earlier they wouldn’t have had the money to finance gain-of-function research in China and we wouldn’t have to be in this mess.
  10. No need for mask, now we need a mask, now we need two masks, get vaccinated and you don’t need a mask, the vaccine is super effective, vaccinated can’t get COVID, well you might get it but your viral load will be so low that you can’t spread it, even if you have been vaccinated you still need to wear a mask, prior infection is less efficacious than the vaccine, actually immunity imparted by prior infection is more robust than the vaccine, we don’t anticipate the need for a booster, oops now you need a booster (and don’t listen to the WHO if they tell you differently) yep quite consistent
  11. I just think it is funny that someone would rate our “climate score” on promises and accords rather than actual CO2 emissions. Trump w low CO2 emissions = bad Biden w higher CO2 emissions = good
  12. And yet CO2 emissions from the US are projected to INCREASE!! during the first half of his administration. https://www.eia.gov/todayinenergy/detail.php?id=46537
  13. No, I wasn’t referring to Trigirl, I was referring to the Biden administration’s failure to deliver a consistent and cogent message with regard to vaccines and COVID.
  14. https://www.skynews.com.au/world-news/united-states/white-house-abruptly-cuts-media-feed-as-biden-goes-off-script-during-idaho-event/video/90cd7fb03c7b61d67af614aacd44f98c Just who is running our country? Who is the “they” Biden is referring to when he says “they told me I have to do this” or “they told me I can’t do that”?
  15. I don’t expect him to stop it, because he is a befuddled geriatric. But if we hold him to his own self-established metric of “70% vaccinated by the Fourth of July” he is a failure.
  16. It’s a little bit funny (to quote Elton John) that most of the power used by the left coast is generated by fossil fuels
  17. Olof “When you need to increase energy production capacity for wind or solar, you just add an extra solar panel or an extra wind turbine and hook it up. Repeat as many times as necessary.” Also Olof “China's building coal plants at a rapid pace because as a developing country, their energy needs are increasing quickly” Also Olof ”If you want to increase energy production for a coal plant, you'll need to choose a site, get architects in and design and build an entire power plant facility. Gives you a big step increase in power capacity, but takes a lot longer.” Olof is confused, but that is unsurprising given the Lefties capacity for cognitive dissonance.
  18. Agreed, and we didn’t have to spend trillions of tax dollars to transition. The same can be said about the transition from wood, to coal to oil, to natural gas for home heating.
  19. Ok “the largest increase in the PPI in more than a decade, unvaccinated illegals and drugs flowing through our southern border, covid spreading, real wages dropping, labor shortage, rampant crime, terrorist safe haven established in Afghanistan“ Do you feel better now?
  20. Only the part that said: “Friday brought more confirmation of rising inflation after the United States Department of Labor said that its Producer Price Index (PPI) – which measures prices that businesses fetch for the goods and services they sell – jumped 8.3 percent in August from a year earlier, the biggest advance since the data was first measured back in November 2010.” I guess if you wanted to be overly pedantic (too late) you could make the argument inflation was worse during the Weimar Republic in Germany so it’s not really a record. Would it make you feel better if I said the largest jump in the PPI EVER RECORDED by the department of labor? You seem grouchy.
