  1. Bo: I waited until 11:30 last night and figured you were stuck in a snow drift. Anyhow, I have some good ideas that will raise you money, guarantee a large crowd and lots of media coverage...probably more than you can handle. PM me ...I may be home most of the day...I have a car oproblem, and its snowing...bad mixture , I WILL get back to you soonest. Bill Cole
  2. I suggest you contact a balloon manufacturer and a reserve manufacturer and compare the materials. Thats the first time I have heard a comparison of zero porosity and ultra low porosity. ???????????????????????????? WOW ! Bill Cole D-41
  3. if you want to have others show a measure of maturity...maybe you can lead by using mature decent language. It would be a start BillCole D-41
  4. Chris: Bo said he would E Mail me tonight, so I await that. I dont know much about the Make-A-Wish inthat area, and it would help much if I knew the type of DZ, where, when, and what has been done inthe past. I am used to racking my little brain for shows and causes, and will see what I can think of. Thanks Bill Cole D-41
  5. I dont know if I can contribute anything to this thread, but I'll give you some info that may help you make a decision. I have 1000+ hours of flying hot air balloons, and they are made of the same type of material (zero porosity ripstop) as is available for making parachutes. I believe the balloon ripstop may be a little heavier than today's parachutes, but there was no difference back in the 1980s-1990s. Balloon ripstop is subject to as much as 15 million BTUs of heat, and must be inspected once a year for wear, tear, and existing tensile strength. Sometimes (usually after 5 or 10 years) the balloon usually gets new top panels, but the side panels are considered okay as long as they are not torn. The few times a reserve is used, and even the repeat openings of a main, is never as hard on the fabric as 15 million BTUs on repeated flights. I know people who have flown balloons for 10 years with the same material as they started their flights, and I see no reason not to jump a reserve or main that has been taken care of. When repacking a reserve, it should be well aired and checked over...( in case it may have gotten wet and there is mildew) but that would indicate "not taking proper care of it. Its just a little data on ripstop, and maybe it will help you. Hope so Bill Cole D-41
  6. the help you seek may depend a lot on the charity, its goals etc. There is usually a way, but your info is so bague, its hard to develop a strategy. If you want toE Mail me, I might think about the best way to approach it. Bill Cole D-41
  7. I have no idea who wrote this poem, but it a good one. A pretty Good poem There once was a pretty good student Who sat in a pretty good class And was taught by a pretty good teacher Who always let pretty good pass, He wasnt terrific at reading He wasnt a whiz-bang at math, But for him education was leading Straight down a pretty good path. He didnt find school too exciting But he wanted to do pretty well, And he did have some trouble with writing And nobody taught him to spell When doing arithmetic problems Pretty good was regarded as fine, Five plus five didnt always add up to ten, A pretty good answer was nine. The pretty good class that he sat in Was part of a pretty good school, And the student was not the exception, On the contrary, he was the rule The pretty good school that he went to Was part of a pretty good town And nobody there seemed to notice He could not tell a verb from a noun. The pretty good student in fact was Part of a pretty good mob, And the first time he knew what he lacked was When he looked for a pretty good job. It was then when he sought a position He discovered that life could be tough And he soon had a sneaky suspicion Pretty good might not be good enough. The pretty good town in our story Was part of a pretty good State Which had pretty good aspirations And prayed for a pretty good fate. There once was a pretty good nation Pretty proud of the greatness it had, Which learned much to late If you want to be great Pretty good is in fact pretty bad.
  8. it wouldnt be the first time... Bill Cole D-41
  9. if you dont believe in God....who are you praying to?????
  10. Exegesis-logos and LuvToFly have both put it very well. I know that through the amazing love of God, He sent his Son to pay the sin debt for everyone, and if you accept that fact, and serve Him in your everyday life, then you will be His forever. The reason I put a "tag" on the end of my postings as I do, it might just make someone think who is searching for a reason or meaning to life and if someone feels he/she is heading in the wrong directuion with their life, Go allows U turns. Walk in the ways of your heart an in the sight of your eyes, but know thou, for all these things God WILL bring you into judgement (Eccleiastes 11:9) I have love for everyone, and do my best to treat everyone with care, just as I would treat the person I cherish most in life, and this I do because Jesus Christ said that is what He expects of me if I belong to Him May God keep you all safe...on every jump ....and in everything you do. Bill Cole D-41
  11. Pilot Dave; I am glad you were "JUST KIDDING". I am also glad that you took the time to read my post, and hope you will think hard on it. It will be the most important thinking you've ever done. How will you spend eternity....smoking or non smoking and I'M NOT KIDDING I am also very pleased to see the posts following yours...that there are Christians who are willing to stand up for Christ. May God bless you all !!! Bill Cole D-41
  12. If that is so, do you pray in your church....and to whom? Almighty God gave you the sky...do you ever thank Him??????What do you do for Him???? Just wondering!!! Bill Cole D-41
  13. In that case I apologize to Phreezone. I thought he was referring to "another Mary", in the context of my mother having gone to be with the Lord. I am sorry I misunderstood.(And I'm not even Catholic) My Mom came to the dropzone only once. My brother and I jumped, and I took a polaroid picture of him, and by the time I was on the ground, the photo was developed, and we gave it to Mom. She then signed our log books. I certainly would not want to have my Mom read the postings herein....that likely would have killed her. Anyhow, my apologies to Phreezone and anyone else who may have been offended. Bill Cole D-41
  14. Take good care of yourself Gerry. There is only one of you, and we cant afford to have anything drastic happen to you. We want you around for many more years. Feel better soon. Bill Cole D-41 Canada
  15. I was hypnotized when I was about 18 yrs old. It was on the stage of a live theatre, and the house was packed. he guy told me I had caught a big fish, and I should hold it up for everyone to see (which I thought I did). He had me take off my shoes and empty the sand from the (make believe beach) out of my shoes. He then told me that when he opened my eyes, I would walk across the stage, down the stairs, and up the aisle, but I would not get to my seat...I would stick to the floor. He made me open my eyes, and it happened just like he said. I got a few feet from my seat, and I couldnt move. He asked me what was wrong, I told him I was stuck. He said that when the guy sitting in the aisle seat said "butter and eggs" I would become unstuck. The guy said it, and I went and sat down. It was a funny experience Bill Cole D-41
  16. Personally, I think your "inside joke" is in poor taste
  17. I sure wish my Mom could visit the dropzone again. She died in 1971. Gosh, it sure would be nice to see her again. Bill Cole D-41
  18. I am one of 13 children in our family. I had eight brothers and four sisters, and this is a poem of how each brother view the others. I wrote it about 20 years ago. Down in old Long Branch we had a big house, I had brothers and sisters galore, With a dog and a cat, and even a mouse And rabbits and squirrels by the score. With plenty of neighbours who all knew us well, From Sharon right up to Syd, The neighbours all knew that my brothers were brats, But I was a wonderful kid. My Mom and my Dad were a very good pair With a baker's dozen to feed. They had plenty of love and plenty of care And always plenty of need. While most of the family was going to school, Some went to work, like Ed, The rest of my brothers were nothing but brats, But I was a damn good kid. The Hicks, and the Hacks, and the Butterworths too, Knew that the Cole boys were bad. And many's the time they threatened to tell The police or their Mom or their Dad. Explosions and fighting were part of their day, I could hardly believe what they did, The world knew my brothers were ignorant brats, But I was a lovely kid. To educate boys with the mind of a duck Was a challenge to teachers in school. To get decent marks was a matter of luck Cause they acted more like a fool. If marks could be bought at an auction back then It is doubtful my brothers would bid, The big saving grace was the teachers all knew That I was a fabulous kid. The Long Branch Police made consecutive calls At the old house on Lake Promenade To find out the truth to the rumours they'd heard, That all of the Cole boys were bad, The sulfur, saltpeter and charcoal they mixed And blew it all up with a squib, The Police proved my brothers were nohing but brats, And that I was a damn good kid. They shot all the songbirds with slingshot and bow Cause those were the weapons they had, But soon they got rifles and bullets to waste And that wasnt pleasing to Dad, But those were the days when the Cole boys were young And few people cared what they did. No one was concerned that my brothers were brats, They knew I was a lovely kid. To listen to stories of things that were done Would cause you to raise a big doubt, Cause stories get twisted, one by one, But eventually truth comes out. None of my brothers were really to blame, So what do you think of that? You see, all of my brothers were really good guys, But I was a bloody brat. Bill Cole D-41
  19. After posting that bit last nigght, I was lying in bed thinking about "deviated septum, and thought it may have been some deviate thing that happened in the month of Septumber LOL However, your explanation is quite good. I had my nose broken twice, and between the breaks, I had a doctor who chiselled out the broken bone to make it possible to breathe. I guess he was undeviating my septum or something. When congested, I squirt some membrane shrinking.nasal spray and in a few minutes, I can breathe easily. Thanks for the explanation....god job someone around here knows what he is talking about. It proves one is never too old to learn something new. Bill Cole D-41
  20. It would probably help if yoyu would tell us what a diveated septum is. I have had sinusb allergies since 1961, and have jumped congested and unable to breathe through my nose. I have taken lots of different allergy medicines, and have never heard of a deviated septum. Explain what it is. Bill Cole D-41
  21. truly a nice surprise...and nice of you to share it with us. I hope he recovers fully and wish him well. Bill Cole D-41
  22. I sure hope and pray that this will bve a complete success, and you'll be back in the air soon. My best wishes go out to you, and I'll be awaiting the posting that tells us all that you are okay. Bill Cole D-41 This is supposed to be your nurse
