    Ooh yay! A Stephen King thread! I've read nearly everything he's ever written except for The Colorado Kid which I have in paperback here on my desk. I have boxes and boxes of first editions that I just can't seem to part with. The Dark Tower series is my favorite and The Gunslinger in particular. I've read it at least 8 times now. I've also read everything Anne Rice and her pen name have written and used to read Dean Coontz and John Saul but got a bit bored with them. -------------- (Do not, I repeat DO NOT, take my posts seriously.)

    I read everything he ever wrote up to Needful Things. Most of it before I was 14. Then it seems like he just stopped trying to do anything original. I've read every book he's ever written including the ones under his pen name Richard Bachman. He's had his ups and downs. Even I've gotten a bit bored before on some of them but there have been many good ones since Needful Things. -------------- (Do not, I repeat DO NOT, take my posts seriously.)

    I love the Dark Tower! Every time a new book was released I would go back and read each of the old ones again to get me back to speed with the story before reading the new one. I've read Gunslinger at least 7 times, probably more. The man in black fled across the desert and the gunslinger followed. -------------- (Do not, I repeat DO NOT, take my posts seriously.)

    And he ripped off The Stand. Take a gander at Swan Song sometime. Storyline almost identical, came out before The Stand. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0671741039/qid=1132011110/sr=8-1/ref=pd_bbs_1/002-9265846-7712827?v=glance&s=books&n=507846 According to that website it came out in 1987 but the Stand came out in 1978.     for some strange reason I thought your were an A&P mechanic Where ever did you get that idea? lol, I can't for the life of me remember... maybe some comment you made a while ago that led me to believe you had intimate knowledge of turbines or something, I don't know...     Things that make you go hmm: The Mitchell Brothers founded the strip club called O'Farrell Theater in San Francisco. Farrels was an ice cream shop we used to go to when I was a kid. Now they are serving purple yam ice cream at mitchell's. Coincidence? I think not! I have never had purple yam ice cream there. You also forgot that my commute takes me completely through San Francisco twice a day so I still spend plenty of time there. -------------- (Do not, I repeat DO NOT, take my posts seriously.)
