Before you have a knee-jerk response to swooping because of Scotty's death, look at the facts of the incident. When the final report is completed, I am sure you will see that his swooping was one small factor of a series of very dangerous large factors that led to his death. Scotty's death was such a tragedy and left horrendous scars on the ones that were there to witness. Blue skies, my friend. I will miss your smiles, up-to-no-good laugh, beautiful blonde hair, and calming demeanor. On another note, another of our beloved skydiving family members, Joe Robertson of Shreveport, died in his sleep New Year's Eve of a non-skydiving related illness. I can see your point, but I do not want to check my rig and have someone who doesn't know what they are doing "investigate" it without me being there to see if they are tugging on wires, trying to snap pins, etc. which could be fatal when I jump. I want to take my rig with me on the plane so I can keep an eye on it. Also, my hook knife's design would enable me to cut someone's finger off but not kill them unless I broke the knife. When I travel, I carry the TSA letter that you can print off from USPA.org and my Cypres card. I have had issues, but have always been willing to answer all questions and clarify misunderstandings calmly. The hotels are very close to the DZ, but I do NOT recommend taunting the police with driving drunk. Mississippi patrolmen don't take too kindly to that. If you do want to tent it, expect brisk temperatures at night. By the way - we have a camper out there Oh and if you plan to sleep at the DZ, there are 3 showers, so bring towels, washcloths, and soap. I wrote a review on Gold Coast and I think this site also has other information about the DZ amenities, so feel free to check it out.
