I don't have any other talents other than the ones listed above - but I knew this gifted kid in high school who could tell you how many times the drummer hit the drum immediately after listening to a song and how many syllables you used after talking. Newbie to Skydiving with many many questions...

Jumping from a moving plane, you do not get the "stomach slapping you in the face" feeling like you do when you ride rollercoasters, but you do get a surge of fear-induced adreneline. People like skydiving for a variety of reasons - some love the freefall, some love the canopy ride. This is why there are so many disciplines in the sport - belly flying (Relative Work), free flying (flying in the sit position or on your head, etc), free style (more dance-oriented manuvers), CRW (canopy relative work), etc... For now, I recommend tandem for anyone's first jump so you can get the sensation of freefalling and the canopy ride without having too much responsibility put on you. You never know, skydiving may not be your gig - but I hope you have a great time. Be safe - that is the most important thing you can do. -

Come on down! There are two DZs in the New Orleans area - New Orleans Skydiving Center in Thibodaux, LA and Gold Coast Skydivers in Moss Point, MS. My advice for a visitor is to get with the DZO first and discuss what your goals are for the trip; i.e. do you want to just hang out and watch, go through a jump course, experienced and want to jump your buns off, etc? Then just smile, have fun and offer sexual favors to everyone (just kidding about the latter) Look forward to seeing you. Oh - make sure you bring all your paperwork with you, if you have it - license, reserve card, etc... ..................................................................... Can anyone tell me when they started this highlighting of words in text stuff? For instance, I type the word travel in this thread and at some point the word "travel" will end up underlined in yellow which makes it a hotlink for an advertisement. If I move my cursor over the word, it highlights it in yellow and gives me a brief ad message. How can advertisers be authorized to do this when they haven't paid for the ad space on this site? ..................................................................... It happened at approximately 9:30pm New Year's Eve. Scotty's funeral was today and it was heartbreaking.
