The Airport Board President was heard saying, "I'm trying to get rid of some undesirables and I will get it done." When questioned who those "undesirables" were, he stated that it was skydivers. The person he was chatting with was a skydiver, unbeknownst to him. This skydiver has said he will be willing to testify in court that the Airport President said this to him. The AP is turning out to be our best ally. I hope he continues to shoot his mouth off.

Girl, I hear you! I have to say, that I am pretty lucky. I drive an Explorer, but I have not driven it in a long time. I have to start it once a week just to keep the battery, etc. running. I walk 4 miles to the post office and 2 miles to the grocery store rather than drive. My husband and I run other errands together and we carpool to work in his gas-saving Civic. I know not everyone can do this because time doesn't permit. In addition to the gas I save, I have also lost 6 pounds. ..................................................................... Our friend June Brown lost her battle with cancer Sunday morning. June was the wife, of J. Michael Brown, owner of Pier Ltd and American Skydiving Systems. We got an XT in mid-March and my husband, William, has been flying it ever since. He loves it! Another person at the DZ also got one at the same time, is flying it as well, and likes it a lot, too. I have used it for ground shots and it is a great camera, but I also like my regular digital rebel. JVC has a camera that is one part (unlike Samsung's 2-part camera) and works off a memory card, too, but it isn't flash so it isn't suitable for jumping. (not enough memory and a moving part that may cause your filming to skip). As soon as flash cards with that large of memory capacity come down in price, you will see all cameras going towards flash cards. Ding, ding, ding. We have a winner. That is exactly why there is a "no purchase necessary" addendum to contests. Lotteries are illegal unless the state agrees to allow it. Even when I worked for a casino, we had to have "no purchase necessary" for contests that involved the retail customer. PD could do this contest if they were utilizing a "PD membership" or if the state of Florida was allowing them to host this lottery. If I were PD or any other company, I would have an attorney look over all contest rules before I hosted a giveaway. CYA (cover your ass).

FAA just sent Trent Lott International Airport's Board a letter stating they are in violation of a multitude of FAA fair-practice grant regulations with Gold Coast Skydivers and they have 60 days to rectify all matters or lose federal funding. They must also submit progress reports to the FAA every 30 days. That is a HUGE WIN for us and we look forward to seeing what they will do to make things right with the skydivers. Court case is not closed, though. GCS is still moving forward with a federal court date. ..................................................................... I lived in New Orleans for years plus, when I was a kid, my dad and I would fly to New Orleans for lunch once in a while. We really like Deanie's on Lake Street near Lake Ponchartrain. It is actually in Metairie, LA rather than NOLA, but damn, they have the best shrimp because they are brackish water Lake Ponchartrain shrimp and not Gulf shrimp. But, you also must go to the quarter. Actually, there is a new Deanie's in the Quarter on Iberville Street across from the back entrance of the Ritz Carlton. Falsities in the story: "Gold Coast Skydiving has been allowed to operate at the airport on monthly agreements." We are operating on DAILY leases. "Airport officials have said Igo had a lease to fly skydivers for jumps, not to lease airport property. Igo was evicted in February because he violated his lease by building a temporary office that encroaches on tarmac space, they said." I really hope the airport said this because you don't have to have a lease to fly on a publically funded airport. You do have land/hanger leases though.
