  1. yes respect... I lost respect for the table saw that I was cutting a piece of 3/4 and lost 3 fingers and a thumb, but didnt lose my life, it just sucks that the bottom piece of bread keeps falling to the floor when I try to have a sandwich. All kidding aside, yes the above is true but respect is the key.
  2. Great answer Chuck, you nailed it on the head. As for "no fear Scott" how about totally unstable from 14k to 8k. If that doesnt put a flock of geese in his belly then he should give it up. It sure fixed my ass.
  3. thanks for the help, I guess partorg has to do his homework.
  4. No the rates are not the same. If you tell them on the app that your are a skydiver they will issue the policy with 40% increase in premium. If you don't tell them you are a skydiver and you die within 2 yrs of the issuance of the policy while skydiving and they determine that in fact you are and have been in the sport, they will search all the data that is available. (within that 2 yr period). Say you did a tandem 1 year ago and didnt disclose that on the application and you did second tanden, say last week and died from that jump. They will search these data basis (USPA) with a vengence and if they come up one jump in the past 2 yrs your beneficary is going to pay your finals themselves. The first day after the second year of the policy they are on it... period .,, suicide, skydiving, drunken car accident,, pissing on the third rail... and any cronic illness that you may or may not have had at the time of the application. I am just making the public aware of State guide lines with the non disclosure clause with Life insurance in the State of NY.
  5. I am in New York and I did make a wrong assumption in response to that post. We can't put exclusions on the death benefit , with the exception of a crime. The exclusions we can make are for waiver of the premium do to disability. I should get more familar with mandates from State to State before shooting myself in the foot again.
  6. Hey tell Willie he stirred up a thread on the forums.
  7. Thanks hookit, great little piece of advice. Thats something I will do on my next jump. Sounds so simple but makes great sense.
  8. Hey say hello to Willie T for me please. Larry Fingers SDLI PS: did he buy a pair of sneakers yet??
  9. welcome to the forums, looking to drive down next month (Feb) hope the temp is above 45. If it's above 50 I'll be jumping in my shorts. The weather's benn kicking our ass up here.
  10. not true unless your policy is under 2 yrs old. The 1st day of the third year they have to pay regardless of the peril. Medical insurance can include exclusions, not life. By the way what is a ridder??
  11. yup, I reached back and just as I began my throw I flipped like a coin. I then tried to go back to box but it was too late, my pilot was so far out the pouch it caught enough wind as I was going back to belly it had enough inflation to leave the pouch, at that point I was right shoulder down and the PC went across my belly. This is something that could have gone real bad but other than getting slammed I am here sharing my brain fart. I've had so many people say " anyone can fall but to fly your canopy is the real deal" and I agree but improper body position upon deployment can kill you. Funny thing is that it was my first jump with my own rig and with a hook knife. I have learned alot from my instructors, my mistakes and from this forum. I heard a statement in this forum that said "reach back, hold it for a second or 2 then pitch" Great advice
  12. if your belly to earth, then flip to your back how much speed to you increase and would this cause you to get slammed if you opened in that position. I did it once and it happened so fast that it was difficult to put into perspective once on the ground. Could my speed have increased that quick (3 or 4 seconds)?? That gave me a major smack in the brain as far as body position during deployment. Scared the snot out me. And what I did notice (was told during AFF) that your mind will go into slo mo.... yea yea yea. Guess what they were right, but I reconized it. Two thumbs up to all instructors out there.
  13. no barley and hops nor cannibus prior to jumping. cut and dry brother. never did never will. After the sunset load...... yes indeedy
  14. Did you read this post in it"s entirety???? What gives with your adomosity. He made a decision.Your a real seaoned skydiver therefore I am surprised by your .. """ you did very little right here""" statement.,, Maybe you should reread your statement, or maybe I am missing your point. please elaborate.
  15. Just heard on the news that a new big way was recorded in bangkok. They didnt say how big but from the buzz it was well in excess of 300. Yeah baby
  16. I stupidly disregarded them. I hadn't jumped for two weeks and was dying to go again. I just did a copy and paste for you to read this again. I guess your tired of hearing this, but get used to it if you continue to do the above. You don't die & do it again
  17. Hey you can't get away with a right cheek sneak in this place..even in your own home. Your log book is quite a bit of history ( or pioneers ) which has alot to do with our safety today.. Hats off to you Bill. Larry
  18. not too sure who to reply to but as a newbie (55) I have always been told to sto the brakes, but never have been told to uncollapse the slider, replace rubberbands etc... I do stretch the pilot myself only because of "one" less chance of human error, someone told me that once and it made sense. "thanks Batman Larry". I am in a different league than the seasoned skydiver therefore I dont have a problem paying a packer or giving him or her extra $. My first pack that i jumped nearly seperated my speed bag from my body so that $5 seems so well spent. But as time goes on I am sure that I will have different views on this subject, for now I will stick with people with the golden hands & the lead seal. On that note I have to drop my rig off for a repack before the florida trip. Oh well, hope I shed a different color light on this post.***will you wake in the morning??
  19. WHOA. Thank god I dont smoke weed anymore. had I smoked a bowl prior to your post I think I would have broke out in hives. Come on man, is that dream for real???
  20. Thanx for the reply, your statements are well rounded and gives one some thinking. I will do what ever I have to do at another dropzone to stay away from other jumpers regardless of their policy. You have answered my question with one simple post. I will still be a member of the uspa ( I like the monthly rag).
