Any riggers out there know if it's possible to attach a pair of nut onto the bottom of a rig in safe way? ------------------------------------------------------ May Contain Nut traces......

I heard you can get about £10,000 for a big toe, anyone know the number? ------------------------------------------------------ May Contain Nut traces......

I might get a pair and replace my handles for them, that way if anything goes wrong, just grab you nuts and hope for the best. ------------------------------------------------------ May Contain Nut traces......

http://www.bumpernuts.com/ I want some rig nuts or canopy nuts!!! ------------------------------------------------------ May Contain Nut traces......

I think the best thing about it was to be able to see what a malfunction looked like and how the canopy reacts in say a line over. It could save a few seconds of your time if you know exactly what's happening. Still, i've never had one, touch wood, but if I do i'kll let you know if it helped. ------------------------------------------------------ May Contain Nut traces......

I'm just curious to know if any and or how many dzs show their AFF students a video on malfunctions and cutaway drills. I wasn't shown one when I did mine but luckily one of the guys at the dz lent me his copy of Cutaway. Watching it could save my life one day. I had no idea after completing my AFF that there were so many different malfunctions and ways to deal with them. It definatley made me prepare mentally for if and when I have to pull silver. Good idea to make AFF students watch it or not? Too early a stage to watch it? I reckon it would be a good idea to make it compulsory for student to reada this forum, it has definatley taught me alot so far. ------------------------------------------------------ May Contain Nut traces......

All being taken in and noted. I'm determined not to make it just work, I can edit already and want to make videos so I can use my creative side, and make a hell of a lot of fun jumps and have a serious amount of fun. Just got to get the balance right. Ive just recieved an email from them and the course lasts 32wks including the 12 weeks on the job. Not for me that one. ------------------------------------------------------ May Contain Nut traces......

Is it 100 jumps in the States? Anyone know what it is in NZ. That's another factor thats making things more complicated for me at the moment, whether or not I should go to a country when I get my 100th jump so I can start to fly the camera sooner. ------------------------------------------------------ May Contain Nut traces......

That's what I was thinking too, especially as my friend paid £44 for a coach jump the other week, £17 for each jump ticket and £10 for the guy to cover his pack job and a bit for him. On the plus side too you are being taught about things that you would normally learn after spending alot of time on a dz. Anserwing questions that you haven't yet though of asking. I'm a newbie with 40+ jumps and have already invested in my own rig, camera helmet and editing equipment and am now skint and gathering as much information as possible about how to get into the sport professionally. I have taken into consideration trying to get in packing at my local dz, working a job that I hate to save ebough money to get enough jumps to be experienced enough to try doing it professionally etc etc. I've just been reading about a still relativley new course, in New Zealand, which is the first of is kind and was curious to find out what you experienced guys thought about it for someone in my postion. The course consists of 200 jumps and has 3 modules to it - Dropzone Operations, Commercial Skydiving and Advanced Commercial Skydiving. From what i've gathered on the jump side of the course they are coach jumps and you get taught how to fly camera and edit and then give you the chance to work on the dz for 12 weeks. I wont say too much about it but it would be greatly appreciated if anyone could take the time to have a look at the site and offer any advice/views because at the moment it is looking tempting to me at my level of experience and knowledge about the whole sport. Thanx yall. Dave http://www.skydiving.co.nz/index.cfm/Diploma_in_Skydiving "Where's my shoe?" ------------------------------------------------------ May Contain Nut traces......

For price v quality I would say the Vortex II, I paid £1300 for the container, ZP-exe and a Decelerator reserve and I cannot fault it, and it's sexy. The only thing is Chute Shop are not renound for their great service....see link http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=565441;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread ------------------------------------------------------ May Contain Nut traces......

Cheers dude, can you send us the url for that section of the site please? I've been looking around it but cant seem to find the material your talking about. http://store.yahoo.com/phoenixtextiles/fabric-apparel---fashion-fabrics-cotton-prints---solids-fat-quarters.html I managed to find some patterned material in pretty funky designs though, not sure if its the kind of stuff your looking for or if its the right sort of material mind. I can't belive i've just been browsing a site that has sections about 'Quilt and Craft' and 'Ultimate Sweater'!! ------------------------------------------------------ May Contain Nut traces......

Someone mentioned to me that a polycotton is what iis normally used in freefly suits/pants. I'm determined to make these because i'm not prepared to pay what the manufacturers charge. ------------------------------------------------------ May Contain Nut traces......

I'm looking for exactly the same material. I've already been to look in a few fabric warehouses in in my town but had found nothing that even resembles the material i'm looking for. I'm a bit weary about buying online because I want to feel the thickness of the material first. ------------------------------------------------------ May Contain Nut traces......

Yeah I heard several things about the Vortex II were raised riggers' committee but I also heard that the problems they have had in the past have now been ironed out. Many people inlcuding riggers have said that my rig and my friends are the best Vortex IIs that they have seen quality wise, which is always good to hear. ------------------------------------------------------ May Contain Nut traces......

A friend and I both bought Vortex IIs from Chute Shop when we were in South Africa about 7months ago and we both encountered several problems. My friend ordered his in December and was told it would take 8weeks to complete so he went off travelling for 3months expecting his rig to be ready to pick up when he finished. I ordered mine in mid January through the same rep (not going to mention names) and paid in full also so our rigs should have both been ready at the same time. We phoned Chute Shop only to discover that they had not only not recieved the order, but the our money also, which they request before making a start on the rigs. We contacted the rep again who then contacted Piers to tell them this and was told that the orders had been faxed etc and that there was confusion and the rigs would be ready in a week as the were being made. We contacted Chute Shop again to enquire about the progress only to be told that they had spoken to the rep but still hadnt started on the rigs and they were having meetings about whether or not to charge us the new U.S prices even though we were quoted the Sth African prices and placed the order way before they was thinking about upping the prices. After a rather shitty phone call to them to try and finally discover what was going on and who was at fault, a woman who worked there threatened to not give us our rigs and said she would sell them abroad..to which we quickly apologised in desperation for our rigs. I had originally ordered a 150/150 container but due to the balls up I ended up with a 170/170 and my friends rig and mine were different colours to what we had ordered because they had to modify the only 2 containers that they had on the shelves. After all this they ended up being more expensive than we were originally quoted and to rub it in even further when we were leaving the country and went to the tax refund desk we were told that Chute Shop's VAT number was incorrect as all VAT numbers start with a 4 and ours started with a 9 so we were £200 down each because of that. Since returning to the UK I have made numerous phone calls to them and sent numerous emails trying to get their correct tax number but they have failed to produce it which has raised several questions in my mind. I will be contacting the Sth African Revenue office regarding this. But, at the end of the day, I have a fantastic rig and I still feel it is the best rig I have seen. Although my canopy was supposed to be red but is green, pink and purple!! I am not saying who is more to blame, the rep or Chute Shop but I would encourage anyone who is ordering from Chute Shop to follow up the progress of their orders regularly. Hopefully now new people are involved in the business things will improve. I want to be mad with them but I am far to happy with my rig at the end of the day. If you like the Vortex II, order one, it's definatley worth the wait and the crap customer service. Vortex II Blue Skies. Who ever said you need a degree?

So, your from Liverpool eh? That was the very uni I dropped out of!! Used to live off Smithdown Rd, before I breached my contacts. In a way I kind of wish I didnt go to uni because I would have all that money I drank away to spend on jump tickets but I had a wicked time and met some amazing people. No regrets. Are you planning on making this your life now? ------------------------------------------------------ May Contain Nut traces...... -
I had a dream that I bought a hippo and it wrecked my garage last night??? Don't know where that one came from. ------------------------------------------------------ May Contain Nut traces......

Hey everyone. So, there I was studying my first year in engineering at uni in Liverpool, managed to pass the first lot of exams no problem, then it comes round to the final first year exams...sat there in my room at 4am revising for what I then realise are things i'm not really interested in. Can't really explain what happened next, but a quick phone calll to my parents to say i'm dropping uni, my cars in the newpaper for sale, along with all my guitars, TV and everything I could find that was worth any money. I take out all the money I can from my bank account and max the student overdraft and find myself sat at Heathrow airport trying to find a ticket to Cape Town to do my AFF, having never even done a skydive before. All with in one week of dropping uni. Finally get a ticket and have to spend 2nights on the benches being harrassed by the airport security asking what I was doing. Finally arrive in Cape Town and within a week and a half my AFF was completed and I am now HOOKED!!! Ended up buying myself a new rig over there and a camera helmet and a Sony PC120 (still waiting to be able to jump that thing). I'm still not sure what made me drop everything and decide to do what I did, but it was the best decision I have ever made and I have found what I want to do everyday for the rest of my life. I'm currently stuck back in the UK, with nothing but my rig and camera helmet, working 12hr shifts 7days a week and trying hard to save enough money to do about 400-500 dives and get into tandem/camera. Still along way to go and a lot to learn but it's gonna be fun! It's got me by the balls and i never thought that could be a good thing! Glad to join yall. ------------------------------------------------------ May Contain Nut traces......
