  1. Build it your self, MC-21b+your bite switch=your ready to shoot pictures. no ready made tongue switches that i've ever seen for any nikons. Good Luck
  2. 300-QRC for both video and stills it comes with the still plate, get the 300-VID plate from stroboframe for your video camera.
  3. The stuff is called super velcro and is found at any Radio Shack in the country (and comes in different colors). And for those new camera flyers Radio Shack has a large assortment of items that the camera flyer might need like switches, plugs, cable&wire, and this and that. I prefer a stroboframe 300-QRC (a camera quick release). i've been using them for years now with no problems. Good Luck
  4. Did you burn it as a compressed QT video for the web or as an MPEG 2 for use in a DVD player. QT compresses in many different ways and i agree with the others except for the stupid question remark.
  5. Sounds good I put this video together wednesday night as a test project and it's sort of what your looking to do. this video is in the Quick Time format and you'll need broadband to view. Choppers
  6. Hey murray Have you gotten any of the royalty free music from free play inside your software folder in your .Mac account?.
  7. Murray Soundtrack Loops is a composing program that lets you make your own music for your videos or listening pleasure. it's real easy to work with and you can import your movie projects into Soundtrack to add sound FX or compose music to your videos time line. the loops provided are great and you can import other music and tweek or add to it to suite your needs. this would be a nice addition to your video editing program because audio is 50% of any video/movie project. Last week i was not a musician but i am now.
  8. Hey Murray Soundtrack Loops is an awesome program for MAC USERS but get it with FCP4 and you'll also get Live Type, Cinema Tools, and Compressor to.
  9. I just upgraded from Final Cut Pro 3 to 4 and $500 for FCP4 is an awesome deal for those wanting an Emmy award winning program. Live Type, Soundtrack, Cinema Tools and Compressor are worth $500 alone and come with FCP4. my upgrade to FCP4 cost $400 alone so i think this is a great deal for every one else. Final Cut Express can seem intimidating at first if your use to IMovies/Premier but is the stepping stone to Pro, any book written about Final Cut Pro will teach you Express as the interface is the same. and the apple site has very good tutorials for Express and Pro. This is a great deal for those on Macs If any one has any Final Cut Express or FCP4 questions ill be glad to answer your questions if i can just e-mail me.
  10. I had that problem and used a rubber band at the 3/30 pin connector to put pressure on the connection point of my N-70/N-90s and i just wrap the band around the nose of my 90s and pop up flash unit of my 70 and have not had this happen again.
  11. Bite Me There IS a difference between my container and the quality of the glass on my cameras.(Duh) 1. A container holds my parachute and if it's a dolphin or a vector or a javelin it's purpose is to work when i want it to and my dolphins (more than 1) have always done there jobs. i have 1 malfunction out of 3300 jumps and i free-fly do Rw, CReW, AFF, Tandems Etc and my dolphins do there job. (and i deploy my chute not jesus) 2. being mean to me will only make me dislike you. 3. Ill be at the goodtime boogie very near Aerohio this weekend so why don't you come bitch at me personally. 12. The quality of the GLASS or how the GLASS is made, by who, what process was used to make the GLASS and even the properties of the GLASS will dictate whether the lens beads, fogs slightly or ruins the video. you get what you pay for. cheap lenses from kenko, raynox, sony, cannon etc allot of times are hybrid lenses made of cheap glass and plastic great on the ground bad for what we do which is shrink and expand the glass. scratches on the lens or cheap lenses that usually have very irregular surfaces are great place for water molecules to hang out and ruin an other wise good video. it's these scratches and irregular surfaces that allow fogging and of course you need a drastic temp change and a high amount of H2O. your jumping location has a large influence on fogging and those with a low relative humidity have an advantage over those who don't. there are allot of lens manufactures out there that make high quality lenses that you'll have to find on your own because they don't sell there lenses to the skydiving community but these lenses will fit and work on consumer camcorders BUT you'll have to find them your self. good quality glass is a start to reducing fogging because the lens is more important than the camera. this issue also affects lens flare. (DON'T BE CHEAP)
  13. I'm looking forward to seeing a web site showing us your video's. and i like sierra nevada pale ale. sandy Machattie says hi scott
  14. I just started using miniature cylinder cameras (referred to as bullet or lip stick cams) that use a sony 1/3" SUPER HAD CCD from a company called KT&C (KT&C.co.kr) that i got with a 2.45mm lens with a 150 deg horizontal angle of view, color w/ 420 lines of horizontal resolution. there very easy to mount any were you want and I'm using a mini-DV camcorder in a fanny pack as the record deck. the view is about as wide as you can get (150 DEG) and the video looks every bit as good as video shot with the camcorder that is the record deck. now i don't need the bulky belly cam, shoe cam, glove mounts that scared allot of people (except me because i was the one wearing them all of the time). i attached it (camera head) to a glove with some elastic tape. this style of camera and some of the flat models that KT&C sells allow an almost unlimited number of mounting locations limited only by your imagination. and much safer than mounting a full size camcorder on your hand, foot or canopy. The model # I'm using is KCP-S230C

  22. Now i remember why i moved back to ohio.
  23. Now i know how my ancestors felt. the red coats are coming, the red coats are coming. Exactly gentleman why? would sony say that IT does not recommend consumer camcorders for skydiving. nor will it honor warranties on consumer camcorders broken while skydiving and i'm not talking about dumping my camera helmet at 1000 meters (see i know some euro) but if you say that your a skydiver when talking to sony and this is true you are put in there data base as a skydiver and if you call them 3 or 5 or 7 years from now you pop up as a skydiver, now your flagged. and now you might not get any service at all. i only brought this point up to try and help other people who through there enthusiasm for skydiving might be setting them selves up for future problems with sony. (I.E. don't tell sony your a skydiver) Sorry NO PUSH for the out burst on your post. I'm interested in your findings as i do not have the skill level to under take such a serious project as taking apart any of my camcorders. I consider cameras used for skydiving as expendable, as i've ruined 3 camcorders and 2 still cameras (nikon) in the last 5 years. and my budget includes new camcorders every year. I'm also uploading my new site today, same crappy movies with a new look. P.S. i love sony camcorders.
