Derek is perfect for that forum! His and Kelli's knowledge of gear is impressive, which is one of the reasons that I bought Kelli's old Reflex. I knew that she had taken good care of it.

Illusion6 is so beautiful and classy. An artistic photographer once asked me to be part of a layout where myself and 2 models would have our bodies painted to blend in with the mountains in the distance. It would be a close-up pictures of the curves of our torsos with the curves of the mountains as background, blending together. I did not do it as I am too shy, but I REGRET not doing it. Nature and nude art together is so beautiful to me.

RE: Oxygen Full-face helmets - Quality? Experiences?

On the standard OXYGN there's a pocket in the liner. The A3 has the external mount. Thank you! that answers my question! -

RE: Oxygen Full-face helmets - Quality? Experiences?
VanillaSkyGirl replied to VanillaSkyGirl's topic in Gear and Rigging
Are you sure you want the outside mount for the audible? I know it's trendy and cool I don't care about what looks trendy or cool. I am more concerned with the helmet's function and usefulness. I didn't think that there was a way of getting the audibles on the inside of the Oxygen. I though that it only came with the outside mounting option. I am quite scared of losing it this way, and I was wondering what to do. Please tell me more. -

To everyone who is very small (under 110 lbs.) and wants to donate blood: I called around and was told anyone under 110 lbs. WILL NOT be ALLOWED to donate blood at all to the Red Cross due to FDA regulations. They explained that donating could be dangerous to the donor under 110 lbs. as the volume of blood needed would be too much blood to "safely" lose. They said basically that the donor could get sick as the smaller body could not handle it. Sorry, small people. At 95-100 lbs., I feel your frustration, but they will still take your monetary donations!

I believe that I am O positive, but I wanted to donate blood to my local hospital, anyway. I went to this site to find out more information http://www.bloodcenters.org/donating/blood.htm In researching it on the internet, I saw that I am about 10-15 lbs. under their weight requirements. (I do seem to become lightheaded when I get blood drawn for tests, but why?) Also, those that have traveled to malarial areas cannot donate for a year! My question is why is there a weight requirement? Can anyone tell me? What if I need to donate blood to someone in my family someday?

CNN got a hold of my story... I DID IT! I left my wheelchair behind
VanillaSkyGirl replied to Rebel's topic in The Bonfire
As to the actual CNN interview, if someone has taped it, maybe they can upload it to skydiving movies.com and we can link it there, as well. Please help us to see this interview. I am really sad that I missed it. I wasn't even drinking beer at my DZ. (I rarely drink alcohol.) I was just trying to avoid traffic... -

VanillaSkyGirl replied to Rebel's topic in The Bonfire
Oh no!!! I was driving back from my DZ late last night, and I missed the interview! Does anyone have a tape of it? Edited to add: I'd love to show my family. -
Eric, you seem like a wonderful person. Please pull through, Eric. Too many people need you. I am sending you and your family all my good vibes. Please get better.

Situations/circumstances that really make you uncomfortable
VanillaSkyGirl replied to Muenkel's topic in The Bonfire
don't have my bow in my hair!!! LMAO Snicker, snicker, snicker... Anyhoo, I think that I am most attracted to your mullet myself. Quite stylish! I'm proud of you, Sue for being on Level 7. My how time flies! I am serious about meeting in San Diego next week if you are still coming. Even if you are restricted to solos, we can at least be on the same load and chat in between jumps. (I don't mind doing solos!) I also highly recommend jumping at Elsinore, my home DZ, if you want to go out that way as the people are quite friendly. Edited to add: So many things make me uncomfortable that I don't have time to post them all, but one big one is a lack of privacy or invasion of my personal space. -
RE: Oxygen Full-face helmets - Quality? Experiences?
VanillaSkyGirl replied to VanillaSkyGirl's topic in Gear and Rigging
Thank you all for responding. I hope that many more people keep responding. There is a white medium Oxygen in stock at my home DZ's gear store, but I am thinking of ordering a black one or calling to see if a nearby gear store has a black one in stock. My new Bev suit is mostly black with Columbia blue accents and a touch of white (front yoke). I was wondering if anyone else thinks of Storm Troopers (Star Wars) when they see the white full-faced helmets, like I do. I just cannot shake that mental image! -
youd really make his day if you told him you were in the shower when you were thinking bout him Hehehehehe... it mayhave been a jedi mind trick So that's what that was...

Ok,Let's see who knows their '80s glam bands
VanillaSkyGirl replied to nubain1's topic in The Bonfire
I was into the depressing Brit bands around at the time. I have a open mind when it comes to music though. Smiths, Cure, New Order, Police, early U2 yazoo, Whoa...me too. This was my type of music when I was in high school. I listened to all these bands in the 80's. I remember The Cure being my favorite when I was about 14. I was heavily into the Brits in the 80's. Remember ~ "Farewell to these marshes Hemmed in like a boar between arches Her very Lowness with a head in a sling I'm truly sorry - it sounds like a wonderful thing" Hey, I am in L.A. and I could probably make that Calahan show on Monday night. What would you say their music is like? Seeing that we have had similar taste in music, I may actually go. Have you heard them live, Sadsue? -
RE: Oxygen Full-face helmets - Quality? Experiences?
VanillaSkyGirl replied to VanillaSkyGirl's topic in Gear and Rigging
I have a small head size with long hair, but I have protruding cheek bones and full cheeks. (I needed a custom-fit open-face.) I have tried on both the Z1 full-face helmet and the Oxygen full-face helmet, and the Oxygen is a much better fit for my face/head. I also feel less suffocated as my nose seems to have more room in the Oxygen. Are there any other full-face helmets that anyone would recommend I try before I buy an Oxygen? Please let me know any issues or concerns about the Oxygen helmets. How well do they last? What is the vision and hearing like in the Oxygen? Is it still easy to hear the audible when it is on the outside? What is their customer service like? What are the differences in quality that others have had who have used both the Z1 and the Oxygen helmet? Has anyone had any difficulty in getting used to wearing a full-face helmet? Do you flip up the visor when under canopy? Any other thoughts about full-face helmets? Thank you. -
13/16 - men are so obvious! I agree. I also got 13 out of 16 right. I guess that we're doing something right, Erica!
