The ship isn't stopping in Cabo! I'm so upset!!
VanillaSkyGirl replied to Evelyn's topic in The Bonfire
Chill out, Jeffy. She has 6 more days...geez! I don't know anything about Acapulco jumping, so I was giving her other fun alternatives. Playing on the beach in Mexico can be awesome. She can surf, scuba, snorkel, etc. I threw in shopping because I wanted to live vicariously through her. (Actually, I just went shopping today, so I am still on my shopping high!) If she did both, I could just picture Ev on the beach in a little, sexy crochet bikini with a pretty lightweight embroidered shawl with fringe tied around her hips and cute matching flip-flops. (Damn, I want that outfit myself! ) -
Hi Sarah. You really should only skydive when you feel ready to give it your all. Take a break, if you must, but please know that we've all been there. Btw, if you want to keep jumping and want to have better landings, you are going to need a plan. I've noticed that good flyers take skydiving as a constant learning experience and work hard to get "good". For example, good 4-way team rooms look like a place to both learn and work. They have file cabinets with their handouts, notes, videos/DVDs and tons of articles to look at or read. They download or look at flying articles/videos on the internet, and they use memory games to remember the letters (randoms) and numbers (blocks). They critique their flying videos and watch them over and over on their own and as a team. They perform many training jumps with their team, and they pay for coaching and sometimes for tunnel training, too. Currency, coaching, training and the positive attitude/desire to better their skills seem to be the key to improvement. Of course, although it seems like work, many teams are quite happy when training because they are working and learning. They are often even happier when competing because this is a chance to see their hard work paying off. I have much respect for anyone that works hard, no matter what the final results. On the other hand, quitting will never let a person live up to his/her potential. If you took a similar approach to your landings as some of the teams do when training, you would definitely improve, Sarah. I'm not saying that it has to be all work and no play, but learning to fly and land your canopy will take some time and effort. People don't magically get better at skydiving overnight. Nobody is that naturally good. It takes work. I'm sure that everyone that flies well has been humbled at one time or another in this sport. Remember, that I only have 200 jumps, so take what I have written with a grain of salt. You should ask a good canopy coach for help, above all. Good luck, Sarah.

The ship isn't stopping in Cabo! I'm so upset!!
VanillaSkyGirl replied to Evelyn's topic in The Bonfire
Oh my goodness, Ev, where are you right now? I don't know anything about jumping in Acapulco, but you should be having a great time with your husband. Even if your ship doesn't stop in Cabo, you should still be able to have the time of your life. You can always scuba, snorkel or otherwise play in the waves. Also, if I were you, I'd take advantage of sightseeing and taste various exotic dishes. Not to mention the shopping that you can do. Check out the leather & embroidered goods, sandals, ethnic-looking sundresses, peasant blouses, straw hats and bags in Mexico. Grrr...now I'm jealous! I just went shopping for super pricey knock-offs and you are able to buy the real-deal! How sweet is that, Evelyn? Btw, when will you be back to So. California? -
Happy birthday to the "Sleeping Beauty"!

The following are truly incredible friends: Giakrembs Skyyhi Melstarr Evelyn Ladonna Paige Frenchy ...and several others, but my list shall remain incomplete because I don't want to leave out any one of my friends. I love them all very much and always wish them happiness. I would definitely drive across the country in a heartbeat to help my friends. There are also several amazing skydiving friends from both Skydive Elsinore and Perris, who are mostly lurkers and/or not big post-whores on DZ.com. I met most of them in person before or around the same time, that I began to post in the forums. I still see them often in the tunnel and correspond with them often, and hopefully, they know that I think quite highly of them as people, not just as the wonderful body flyers that they are.

where else besides Fredericks and Vickies...

That's a perfect example of sexy and fun lingerie, Rastarican! Hydroguy's choice, LaPerla is simply beautiful and another good choice. It's great when men know their way around lingerie. -
That is such a beautiful thing to do. Those guys will appreciate it very much. Thank you.

Those are wonderful, Rky girl. I share the same beliefs and support your viewpoints!

Should women be mentally stable before getting married?
VanillaSkyGirl replied to funks's topic in The Bonfire
That's exactly what I was thinking. It's a very simple design, which I like... EXACTLY what I was thinking, too! -
Should women be mentally stable before getting married?
VanillaSkyGirl replied to funks's topic in The Bonfire
When I get married, I will hold him and love him and squeeze him and pet him and I will call him George. I shall call him "Squishy", and he shall be mine. He shall be my "Squishy". -
Should women be financially stable before getting married?
VanillaSkyGirl replied to windcatcher's topic in The Bonfire
I agree with your post, as well. I had interpreted Thanatos's original post to mean that there is no reason to rush into a marriage, just to be married by a certain age. -

I completely agree with you. Windcatcher ~ Your statements seem to be based on assumptions that all people want to get married, want to have children and are capable of having children. -
Only Sangiro...

That's a little creepy, that she had no idea that you could see her from that angle. Has any other person been able to see into another person's home/room/shower without the other person knowing?

Damned straight!

How wonderful! You're going to love it, Sunny girl.

I completely agree, Wally, especially since I'm not skydiving right now. It's REALLY nice to see all the pictures. They are doing a GREAT job with the "Around the DZ" pictures and with their forums, too. Some of those guys are HILARIOUS in the forums!

That is one HUGE butterfly!

I know. I totally suck, don't I? It says June 18th, 2005 on the pic's web address. To be honest, Dom was telling the truth. He really does NOT normally drink alcohol. That picture was taken at the Poker Run at Elsinore, and it was a one time thing. Seriously, Dom really doesn't normally drink. (I just think that picture is so funny! )

Hmmm...

But I am out of a job if she ever learns to deploy and flare! It seems as though the only thing stopping Cara is that she has no opposable thumbs!

Wonderful news, Renee!

Have fun, Dave and everyone at Lost Prairie!
