he gave it all he had, captain. *** He was out of dielitium crystals...

wow. you guys are pretty quick to pass judgement on someone because of their opinion. shame on you guys for slamming him and calling him prejudiced without knowing his reasons. *** Arlo, I have to love ya for all of the fun you love to have, but also for being smart about it. I myself am guilty of putting too much emphasis on the "beer rules". Maybe we should all take a quick look at what we really do to the sport when we "push" for all of these "firsts" payment. Go with the water and/or Gatoraid...I know I would have appreciated the effort!

How about if you are married, but out of town on business...is it ok then to post in the "Singles Only" forum???
-
Well, that depends on whether or not any of her "new ornaments" got caught on anything on the way down...

Maybe you could push him out as Clark Kent in a phone booth, and he could change on the way down. *** Then the morale issues come into play. Does he have to catch the phone booth or just let it hit the ground and explode??? And after the other thread, If Lois found out he jumped, would she still be turned on???
-
That whole cape+main+reserve=entanglement thing seems like it might be a problem. I'm going with he has to stop and change back into Clark. Then again, who jumps in a brown 2-piece suit... Not in style...

More News this morning on Lance. Apparently during a search of his room the French have found in his possession a number of banned substances. These banned substances were listed as; Deodorant, Soap, Shampoo, and sundry shaving Paraphernalia. The Tour De France is investigating.
-
The French have just announced that they have proven Lance Armstrong is an illegal competitor as he has one more testicle than any Frenchmen do giving him an unfair advantage.

What are some of the funniest team names you've heard?
Taylor610 replied to ACMESkydiver's topic in The Bonfire
At Blue Sky Adventures, the 4-way team there is named "Critical Mass" (4 pretty good sized guys) One of the former team members is a Dr. of Physics (I think) and also a former National Champion (Where are you DW). Thought it was a cute team name. Other teams... 3 Poles and a Hole (3 guys 1 girl) Blowing the Load -
Where's your first jump certificate?
Taylor610 replied to Orange1's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Never got one, back then they didn't make paper. Besides, riding the taradactyl to altitude took so much time we didn't have a light left to chisel one out in the rock. -

Old, but this is information regarding marriages in TX. There apparently is a 72 hour waiting period from the obtaining of the marriage license and the actual ceremony. Also it appears that Ministers and Judges are the only acceptable officials. March 21, 1989 Honorable Rene Guerra Criminal District Attorney Hidalgo County Courthouse Edinburg, Texas 78539 Letter Opinion No. 89-028 Dear Mr. Guerra: You ask about the authority of a retired judge to issue an order waiving the required 72-hour waiting period between the issuance of a marriage license and the performance of a marriage ceremony. Section 1.82 of the Family Code provides: (a) On receiving an unexpired marriage license, any authorized person may conduct the marriage ceremony as provided by this section. (b) [provision related to marriage by proxy]. (c) The marriage ceremony may not take place during a 72-hour period immediately following the issuance of the marriage license unless: (1) an applicant is a member of the armed forces of the United States and is on active duty; or (2) an applicant obtains an order of a district court as provided by Subsection (d) of this section. (d) An applicant may request a district court for an order permitting the marriage ceremony to take place during a 72-hour period immediately following the issuance of the marriage license. The court may grant an early hearing on the request and shall grant the order if the court finds that there is good cause for the marriage to take place during the 72-hour period. The persons authorized to conduct marriage ceremonies in Texas include: justices of the supreme court, judges of the court of criminal appeals, justices of the courts of appeals, judges of the district, county, and probate courts, judges of the county courts at law, courts of domestic relations and juvenile courts, retired justices and judges of such courts, justices of the peace, retired justices of the peace, and judges and magistrates of the federal courts of this state. Fam.Code s 1.83(a)(4). See also Fam.Code s 1.83(b) (defining "retired judge or justice"). Your question is whether a retired district court judge has authority to waive the 72-hour waiting period. A retired district judge may be assigned to a district court pursuant to section 74.054 of the top Government Code. A retired district judge may exercise the powers and duties of the district court judge of the court to which he is assigned. Gov't Code s 74.059. If a retired district judge is assigned to a court, he would have the authority to issue an order waiving the 72-hour waiting period provided for in section 1.82 of the Family Code. The retired judge's authority to do so would stem from his assignment to a court, however, not from his authority to perform marriages. The retired judge's authority to perform marriages would not by itself authorize him to issue a court order waiving a statutory requirement any more than a federal judge's authority to perform marriages in Texas would give him authority to issue such an order. Very truly yours, Sarah Woelk Chief Letter Opinion Section Opinion Committee

I just have to ask... Are you really jumping a Nitro 120 at a wing loading of >1.3 at 90 jumps?

Post pictures of the surface area, where the application will be administered and I am sure that there are enough of us, that we can study it and come up with a best scenario whipped topping for it.

Same here. I had to check it out after one of my coworkers said.... "It was on the news that someone was in freefall for 9 hours! Is that possible???" I love it when they get things all screwed up. _________________________________________________ Sure they can, say if jump run was at 324 million feet. Then again, spotting takes on a whole new meaning... In fact at that point in time the old saying "It's the face of the earth, you can't miss it!" may not even come into play.

In South Carolina a Notary of the Public and legally join a Man and Woman in Wedlock. I have performed 3 weddings as a Notary, 2 of them for skydivers. States have different laws, but you may want to ask and see if Ministers and Judges are the only people who can perform weddings.

Oh, I just had to bump this one so it would be by the Battery thread...
