  1. I agree, the Depth doesn't look quite on to me, but there are a lot of Photoshop pro's here who will say for sure... =========Shaun ==========
  2. Almost. Many temples open up every couple of years when they remodel parts. The Nauvoo, Houston, Seoul, and a few other temples I can think of were open for almost a Month for public tours. We could go on and on about this, DSE. I can't see a single mormon-related thread without you going on about something negative . This isn't the place for that. The point is, Gordon B Hinckley, a man who has done MUCH Good in this world, for Mormons and non-Mormons alike, has passed away. He organized the Largest non-governmental relief efforts to SouthEast Asia during the Tsunami, he helped raise Millions for various causes, and he turned all the church's efforts, millions of dollars, and countless volunteers to New Orleans. He was a good man, and his death means something to me. =========Shaun ==========
  3. I agree 100%!!! Well Said, well said. I doubt the DZO's of a few dropzones would like this idea, but I think it would help. Each month, they have a featured DZ near the middle/end of the magazine, where the DZO gets to write up a little somethingsomething about the operation they run. You know, aircraft, packing areas, the vibe they think they have. They should also include experienced jumper ticket price. A Few DZ's, especially ones that spike upjumper prices to discourage their business, really have no business witting those kinds of articles...But that's a different story... =========Shaun ==========
  4. I've been really impressed with the "Getting Up there" articles on various Skydiving Aircraft, and their Pros and Cons as jump aircraft. That is one thing that's helped me get back in the Parachutist, but for the most Part I tent to agree with a lot of the other comments in this thread. =========Shaun ==========
  5. You could give it to your local DPRE! I'm sure he could find a use for it to train upcoming rigglets.
  6. Geese that hit airplanes don't have blood that flows through their veins like yours and mine. They have a thick, black, vile solution full of hate for modern aviation. =========Shaun ==========
  7. I don't know what to say. If it is hot for acid, then this will probably be a pretty big deal in the rigging community... What the hell were the riggers who packed it doing for the last 20 years!?!?!? =========Shaun ==========
  8. 0:4:1 What a weekend! I made four jumps, all with students, and I made the big 6-0-0!!! =========Shaun ==========
  9. Huh?!? Correct me if I'm wrong, but shouldn't a SL be connected to a structural support component of the AC? Does a seat-belt provide a safe anchor? =========Shaun ==========
  10. ABSOLUTELY It's a family affair. At many of the Dropzone I've jumped at, many even go out of their way, to make it such that the DZ has a good, family vibe. At our DZ, we have 3 sets of brothers (out there every weekend), and it's cool to watch them try to get on loads together. We have 2 families (Father + Son and Father + daughter) that all reached their license, bought their first rigs, and jump almost every weekend. I can't imagine this sport without that vibe. I want to open a DZ, and I will strive to create an atmosphere where a Family member could bring their children, siblings, or spouses and have a good time. That's what this sport is about! =========Shaun ==========
  11. I want good natural breastsess. I don't care if they are Bs, Cs, or Ds. They just gotta fit the body and profile of the girl they are ridding on. Two girls I dated were kinda small, (5'4"), they had small breasts, but the fit on just perfectly. I guess also, if you love the girl you are with, it just won't matter. =========Shaun ==========
  12. God bless him. He speaks for us all. =========Shaun ==========
  13. I think RiggerRob has brought a lot of really good points to the table. I may not have 20+ years tossing students, but I've learned enough to be safe in 4+ years of training students on the SL method. They both have their pro's and cons. IMHO, it's pretty easy to mess up both methods with a lazy jump master, but the fact you can train students more economically than AFF has allowed MANY people to progress and join our sport than if we had AFF alone. Back to the original thread... I would tend to think IAD would be wise out of a caravan. Riggerrob, traditionally, where would the SL attachment for a Caravan or Otter go, if IAD was not available? =========Shaun ==========
  14. I don't think you are understanding very much about those lawsuits. The meat n' bones of it had nothing to do with cancer, it had to do with lying about medical findings for years (over 50 years they denied smoking had any adverse effects on health). Marketing directly to underaged children, bribing government officials, the list goes on. As for the McDonalds, that's a fucking shame. How about all the law suits against our sport?!?!? =========Shaun ==========
  15. I still think there is a moderate need for a good gear store that offers financing options to help people get into new gear.... =========Shaun ==========

    F U FAA!!!

I'm not saying they should give it over to a private company - I'm saying I would like to see a well done, professional time trial analysis into what causes the delays, over a broad spectrum. In my experience, (as yes, I've done many studies like this as an Engineer) the government doesn't necessarily always have the right tools to get the right data. =========Shaun ==========

    F U FAA!!!

Way to go guys! I'd like to tell the FAA to fornicate themselves on a regular basis, but this couple said it best (Albeit probably for different reasons than I'd like to say it). The clip I quoted here is kinda interesting. So, the FAA reroutes planes over their home, to make a small impact on the delays, and they can't do anything about it. It's a bad deal all around. I'd like to see a real, non-government BS time trial study to see really what the source of the delays are. The probably could hire out a good Industrial Engineering firm to get to the root of it. Or they could pay some fat kid on a step ladder to watch the airport and make up reasons the planes are late...... =========Shaun ==========
  18. I'm not convinced that it even matters! I think that it shows a DZO's willingness to open up and show fourth their maint logs is in many cases, a good sign in the first place. Granted, I'm no A&P, but I can certainly look at the last date an A&P looked at the aircraft. If I asked to see them, and the DZO acted hesitant, then I would wonder... I think it's a sign of trust. =========Shaun ==========
  19. That's what I was thinking... Pretty reliable and rugged STOL aircraft, much better built than some more common jumpships. I'm still dumbfounded how someone could complain about any Turbine Jumpship, nonetheless complain about the Skyvan. Hell, I'll take one any day....
  20. I have no idea what the hell you're talking about. But yes. Yes. Let's go jump now.
  21. Come on, I know there are some naughty students here. So who's posting in class? I'm in Stats for Engineers (511) right now. I used to be a stat major, so it's not too hard, and the teacher keeps talking about how he was up late playing "rock bank" and how he has blisters from pretending to be a drummer. Let's hear your confessions - who isn't paying attention? =========Shaun ==========
  22. I've asked to see them before, and In my experience, the DZO was happy, almost glad that someone finally asked. (BTW, I asked Jen...) =========Shaun ==========
