The life of an F-111 canopy depends on all the factors listed above, and i think that the methods used in packing can make a big difference also. My F-111 PD193 has around 600 jumps on it, and i've felt the performance decrease over the last 100 or so. On no wind days, it's difficult not to thump in, even on a .9 wingloading. =========Shaun ==========

SKYVAN ---- No questions there. I come from a Single Cessna DZ, so a large tailgate aircraft is a real treat. It's got a great climbrate, and sweet exits. However, i always feel like a retard because i always fumble trying to open the door. =========Shaun ==========

Do you know approx. how many jumps the canopy has on it at the time?? I know several jumpers who in order to tame the openings of their sabres, got into the habbit of folding the outside 4 cells into their center cells during their pack job which can cause the center cell to blow out like that on a hard opening......could this have been a cause??? Their little jumper-in-tow experiment??? Didn't work, but it was fun to watch. KansasSkydiver held on for about 1 second then was ripped off, then Justin tried it on a spur of the moment, and he didn't make it either. Thinking about it, these dreams would seem to be perfectly normal. Jumping out of aircraft is not a natural experience by any means, and as skydivers, we learn to deal with these natural fears by repitition. It would only seem normal to have an ourcry from your subconcious every once in a while. There is a jumper who posts on DZ.com who is a clinical psycologist. (i'm just remembering to past forums) it would be interesting to get his insight on these kinds of incidents. KansasSkydiver, i hope you feel better about this soon. Vibes from down the street.
