  1. Is this anti-semitic? It was written between 740-680 BC.
  2. Only if you're credible, you have lots of other credible witnesses supporting the facts that your stating about the events and yourself, that your documentation can be shown through textual criticism to be accurate and written close to the time frame of the events, that what you write matches up with recorded history, and if it can be shown to be supernatural in origin due to it matching up with many other documents containing prophesied events and claims to be "of God." That would be a start. Added: Oh right... And in your testimony (supported by everyone else), it needs to include a person, claiming to be God himself, living a sinless life, fulfilling all the prophesy of the Messiah, performing miracles including raising the dead, predicting his own persecution and death, and being tortured, crucified, killed, and resurrected for the sins of the world. That would help...
  3. Some of these were actual eye-witnesses. All of them died martyrs deaths for what they knew to be true and because they would not stop testifying to what they saw and heard. Philip: Stoned to death, Phrygia, A.D. 54 Peter: Crucified, Rome, A.D. 69 Paul: Beheaded, Rome, A.D. 69 Andrew: Crucified, Achaia, A.D. 70 Matthew: Beheaded, Ethiopia, A.D. 70 Thomas: Speared to death, Calamino, A.D. 70 James (The Less): Clubbed to death, Jerusalem, A.D. 63 John: Abandoned, Isle of Patmos, A.D. 63
  4. Some meaning behind the movie. A very good listen. http://www.livingwaters.com/passion/passion.m3u
  5. Don't you think God carries a bit more weight than O.J.? I do.
  6. - Textual criticism - Redaction Criticism - Historicity - Archaeology I don't use the Scientific Method to take a trip across the country to a place I've never been. I use a map which was written by people I have never met. I trust it because the author's reliability has been established and it can be shown that the map is a good copy of the original. The terrain features and structures are also verified along the way.
  7. I agree. Only God can change one's heart. All I can do is present the evidence. I would just encourage you to seriously consider it. But that's up to you. Word of caution, though. You have a conscious which testifies to the truth. You are "with" "knowledge" now and are accountable. You could die on your next jump. Be ready.
  8. That's a shame. Seriously. It concerns me, believe it or not, and I don't even know you. I believe it and wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.
  9. The fact that you don't believe it is really of no consequence. You can sit down in the middle of the interstate and not believe in trucks and get smashed like a bug. The Bible testimony is solid, reliable, and trustworthy. It says that you will be conscious and will experience the penalty for your lawbreaking for eternity. How did you answer the questions above? If what the Bible says is true, where will you be going when you die? Heaven or hell? Does that concern you?
  10. I'll tell you what is literal. You are going to die. Maybe in the next hour. Maybe not for another 60 years. You are going to face a completely holy and just God and will be judged for everything you've done in life. That includes every thought that has gone through your head. You will be judged by God's moral standard of goodness. Have you ever told a lie? Have you ever stolen anything no matter how small and even if you were just a kid? Have you ever felt hatred toward another person? God considers hatred as murder. He not only judges your actions but your thought life as well. Have you ever looked at a girl with lust? Jesus said that whoever looks at another woman with lust has committed adultery with her already in his heart (that is, outside of marriage). Those are just a few of the commandments. It only takes one. I've broken every one. The Bible says that no unrighteous soul will enter heaven and that the penalty for sin is spiritual death. Instead, those found in transgression of the law will spend eternity in hell. It's a real place described more times in the New Testament than Jesus ever talked about love and forgiveness. How do you answer the questions above? Where will you be going when you die? Heaven or hell?
  11. How bout that chunk of change Mel Gibson gave to the Church from what he made on The Passion of the Christ? Quite a testamony to his faith and sincerity. 2 thumbs up on that one! Especially since he went out on a limb and funded the thing himself and in spite of Hollywood turning their backs on him.
  12. I'm thinking that's the one I missed too! Must be some of that new "fuzzy" math they've been talking about. Man...I'm getting old. Either that or I killed way too many brain cells in college.
  13. I only got 9/10. Also forgot what "^" means.
  14. I read somewhere that Robert Powell, playing Jesus in the film, never blinks his eyes in any of the scenes for a dramatic effect. I watched it again yesterday. Weird...
  15. The newer, more sensitive guys won't fit in really well with the battle hardened veterans we have serving now. That's for sure. This is sad..
  16. Bill Clinton would get his ass kicked in the UFC too.
  17. Speaker's Corner is kind of like Chinese fortune cookies only you put "George Bush" at the end of whatever the post says.
  18. Mike Tyson would get killed in the UFC.
  19. I'm 37 now and didn't become a Christian until 98. I was an atheist for much of my time in the Army. Some of my experiences influenced my beliefs. You bet! How could they not? Some weigh heavy on your conscious. It used to bother me that it bothered me so much. However, what you have to worry about is if there's ever a time when the bad things you do don't bother you anymore. That applies to anyone no matter what they do. Then your heart is hardened to change. God didn't let that happen to me.
  20. thou shall not murder? you were training to murder for years? i have heard it all now! What the Bible says about war Summary: - God hates war; however, it is necessary to maintain order in the earth and overcome those who would like to destroy good. - God sanctioned governing authorities to enforce laws - However, God set boundaries (rules of engagement) or ways of conducting war for those ruling authorities in this matter. - No soldier who is a Christian desires to kill another; however, the Lord Himself, did not chastise a Centurion soldier in the Bible in the matter of his occupation. On the contrary, the Lord commended this man for his understanding of authority and his great faith when he called upon the Lord to heal his servant (Matt 8:5-10). - The Hebrew word for kill actually means "murder" or "to slay someone in a violent manner unjustly." - It's all in the motive. Killing to protect oneself or others or in defense of one's nation at war is not "murder" and is not condemned by the 10 Commandments. So. Again. Where will you be going when you die?
  21. That’s an unfathomable shortsighted vision given eternity. Right now, you are as dead in your sin as that corpse rotting in the graveyard. You’re right. We won’t know everything about what happens next until it happens; however, we’ve been given enough to go on. I do live life for life. Death is just a transition for those who are right with God. You’re offending God. I’m not easily offended at all. I was a Green Beret on an Army Special Forces Operational Detachment for 17 years. I’ve experienced plenty and you’d be hard pressed to offend or scare me off. That you can be sure of… For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law; for not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified. Romans 2:12-13 I’m sure we don’t know everything about this and what provisions God might have for some who have never heard the good news. That’s between them and God. You and I, however, have heard the message and are accountable to our conscious (con = with; science = knowledge) and will be judged accordingly. It is also the responsibility of the believer to try and reach as many as possible who haven’t heard. Where is your evidence to support the claim that the authors were insincere, especially all of them? Coincidence? More tidbits about the Bible: I’m not trying to be deceptive. You can look it up in your own Bible if you’ve got one. The knowledge of right and wrong has been imprinted on your heart since you were born. Your conscious will attest to that, if you’re honest. God’s moral law should appeal to it and convict. You’re specific dealings with some people who may have been poor examples of Christians is no reflection on the truth that’s in the Bible. It’s not those Christians or anyone else who’s going to “convince” you. God is the only one who can call someone to conversion. I promise you I’m not “holier than thou.” I’ve broken every one of God’s 10 Commandments countless times. I’m also not judging you. The 10 Commandments convict, not me. You’re already guilty. So am I. So is everyone else. Born again Christians do not go to heaven because they are good people. They go to heaven because they are bad people who have been forgiven. I wish you would go through the 10 Commandments and watch the video in my links below.
  22. Military do not remove their hats. They salute either with the hand or their rifle. The hat is part of the uniform.
  23. But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God has chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; and base things of the world, and things which are despised, has God chosen, yes, and things which are not, to bring to nothing things that are: That no flesh should glory in his presence. But of him are you in Christ Jesus, who of God is made to us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: That, according as it is written, He that glories, let him glory in the Lord. 1 Corinthians 1:27-31 God has chosen foolish, base, weak, and despised things of the world to confound those who think they are wise. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction. Proverbs 1:7
