Simple platitude. Everyone wants to big up their contender. What did the OT god ever do (on record) for non Jews? Did he speak to them through prophets? Did he give them advice? Did he create helpful miracles for them? Why did those who had no contact with the Jews not have a clue who he was? The God of the OT is the same as the God of the NT. There is only one God.

Seriously... I don't in any way mean to minimize your loss and I am truly sorry. We live in a fallen world and bad things happen to people. While I do not believe God causes all bad things to happen, I do believe he can and sometimes does use them for his purpose. We may not can see how at the time or may never see it but the bad event or even your struggle through it may have a profound impact on the people around you. The problem is, we most often want things to work out for "our own purpose." It's in our nature. God may be using your experience to break you down and get your attention so he can build you back up. In order to break down the wall between you and him (e.g. trying to save you from yourself and judgment).

No. Just Biblical reference. I'm sitting on an airplane. A flight attendant comes by and spills coffee in my lap. I felt as if this incident ruined my entire flight because it was very painful. Therefore, because something bad happened to me on the flight, I no longer believe in a pilot who's flying the airplane.

None without cause. There is no one righteous. No one who seeks God. Do you think you're innocent? Have you kept the Commandments listed above? Where will you be going when you die? Heaven or hell?

Because that is one of the natures of God revealed in the Bible.

“About this time there lived Jesus, a wise man [if indeed one ought to call him a man.] For he was one who wrought surprising feats and was a teacher of such people as accept the truth gladly. He won over many Jews and many of the Greeks. [He was the Christ.] When Pilate, upon hearing him accused by men of the highest standing amongst us, had condemned him to be crucified, those who had in the first place come to love him did not give up their affection for him. [On the third day he appeared to them restored to life, for the prophets of God had prophesied these and countless other marvelous things about him.] And the tribe of the Christians, so called after him, has still to this day not disappeared.” --Josephus

So the Bible is not to be taken at face value when it disagrees with Christian dogma, but is otherwise the revealed word of God??

I've always wondered about this bit. Because in Genesis all old Mighty has to do is pronounce something for it to exist. So it seems that He or She all of a sudden creates other gods at once in order to belittle them. Or is god not omnipotent in that god cannot create other gods... hmm... The least Christians could do is acknowledge their god's actions, and thus recognize other gods, even if they do not worship them. There is only one God (Mk. 12:32, Mk. 12:29, 1 Tim. 2:5, 1 Cor. 8:4, Gal. 3:20, James 2:19, Ps. 86:10, Deut. 6:4,5, Isa. 44:8, Isa. 45:21, Isa. 45:22, Isa. 46:9, Isa. 45:5, Isa. 45:18, Mal. 2:10)

Your assessment above is grossly misunderstood. You are going to die one day and will have to face a completely holy & just God who will judge you for every thought & deed during your life. How will you account for your own lawlessness.

I don't know about the whole Jesus as a woman thing. Seems like a silly thing to consider really since it just wasn't that way. However, I agree with your Old Testament assessment. I stand corrected.

God has revealed Himself in three ways: In creation, in the Bible, and in Jesus (Rom. 1:18-20; 1 Cor. 15:3; John 5:39; Acts 10:43; Heb. 1:1-3; John 14:9). Jesus was a man. God does transcend gender. However, that's the reason we refer to him in the masculine.

Why? Do you think you've lived up to God's moral law?
-
Only if it represents what they worship above God. Is it an idol or just a statue?
-
Still is. He's just withholding judgment now. There's a difference between tolerance and approval. It's an example of his long suffering patience. Not his acceptance. All sin will be punished.
-
There's civil, ceremonial, and moral law recorded in the Bible. They differ.
-
Perhaps "The Designer" just did a rotten job. People make their own choices.
-
Why? So you could be equal with God?
-
Religion is simply a roadmap. It is not necessarily needed for morality (people's standard). God's moral law is written on the hearts of all people whether they believe or not. However, ALL fall short of God's standard and are guilty (including Christians).

Origin of the species, where do you stand?
pajarito replied to shropshire's topic in Speakers Corner
I'm not saying species of birds can interbreed with species of reptiles Bill. Donkeys do successfully interbreed with Horses. It produces a Mule. As stated before, the fact that their offspring are sterile indicates a loss of information. Loss of information. The mule has 63. Both the horse & donkey descended from an original kind. Copying error over time produced what we have today. The mule may have one more chromosome than the donkey but not more than what they both originally descended from. Added: By the way, I did not say "nothing out there can possibly produce new DNA." New DNA is made every time it's copied in reproduction. However, that is still just modification of existing information. -

Everything was created according to its kind with the capacity for variation within limits. Speciation driven by Natural Selection occurs resulting in the wide variety of species that we have today. Species can interbreed. (e.g. Donkeys, horses, zebras readily hybridize and originally descended from an equine kind.) Sterilization in offspring such as with the mule does not indicate evolution. It indicates variation within a kind where DNA copying error has occured making reproduction less likely (there have been rare examples where mules have reproduced). Natural Selection makes it where some species die out and others survive to reproduce and further speciate. Those species with variation, however, are still members of an original kind. -

Ok... Here's my stance for this thread. The NDT is not possible and cannot be proven. -

In parts of Appalachia, it's actually true. But I digress. You should see a guy that I work with. His protruding brow ridge is freakin HUGE. -

I was 29 when I gained my Christian beliefs. Prior to that was difficult. Now, it's even more difficult. It doesn't worry me in the slightest that the foundation of Christianity will be shaken by anything...ever.
