  1. Oh...oh....oh....ffftttthhhhhhhhhhhh....ahhhhhh.
  2. That's the way I took it. It was the end for Jesus' time on earth and the anti-christ's time was now coming. I guess...
  3. Don't be fooled into thinking that the Pakistanis are the only ones in on this operation. I'm absolutely sure our spec ops and CIA guys are involved in some fashion. However, you're right in that the Pakistanis supply the bulk of the force doing the work.
  4. I thought only girls made those requests...
  5. I'll be more specific. "Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done." An angel from heaven appeared to him and strengthened him. And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground. Luke 22:42-44 I'm speaking of when Jesus was in the garden praying right before he was betrayed and taken. Like the beginning of the movie. Not when he was on the cross. I know, at times, he was tempted by the devil.
  6. Ok...don't blame me for bringing this one back up but, since it is, I have a question. I saw the movie last weekend and thought it was excellent. My question, however, is with the scene in the garden with the devil. In the gospels, it reads that an angel from heaven appeared to Jesus to help him and provide support as he was praying. In the movie, it's just the opposite with the depiction of the devil tempting Jesus. I understand and am ok with adding stuff in like Jesus being thrown over a wall as he was being tortured. That could have happened. It's dramatic interpretation. However, I don't like it when the actual storyline is changed. Not that it really takes away from the movie or the message at all. I just like things to be in order and that doesn't appear to be. Anybody have an answer for that? Again, don't flame me Skybytch for responding to a non-skydiving topic.

  9. And yet another was 1 week after 9-11 when four of us (members of the Opelika Skydiving Association Parachute Exhibition Team: all either current or retired military) jumped into Legion Field in Birmingham, AL again for the Army/UAB football game. We were the only parachutist in the nation, at that time, allowed to jump into, let alone fly over, a major sporting event. FAA supervision was extreme and we only had one shot at it. The only way we were allowed to do it was due to SkymonkeyOne (Chuck Blue's) Dad (CSM Retired Buddy Blue's) influence and who he knew. We flew into the bowl stadium and the crowd was extra loud due to the exitement, patriotism, and especially anger over what had just happened. Which we should all still have, by the way. All music seemed to stop and all you could hear was the synchronized chanting/screaming....USA...USA...USA. What a thrilling and humbling experience to be part of that. Shortly after, I was deployed. I'll never forget it.
  10. One of my proudest was a night demonstration jump into Legion Field in Birmingham, AL in 1989 as part of the 20th Special Forces Group Parachute Exhibition Team (when that existed) for the All-American Bowl football game (when that existed) out of a CH-54 Skycrane helicopter with my Dad (MSG Retired: Bob Phillips), Uncle (CSM Retired: Buddy Blue), and cousin (Chuck Blue: SkymonkeyOne) when we all used to jump together. I've done others that I'm very proud of but this one was special because of the respect that I have for my family members mentioned. My hats off to all of my former teammates (including also CSM Retired: Bobby Cook, Luther Bacon, and Barry McClain)
  11. I've been jumping since 1987 and have never owned an AAD. I was always either a poor college student, a poor Army dude, or up to my eyeballs from my wife's student loan debt. During that time, I would always rather buy a new canopy with my money as opposed to purchasing a Cypres. They're too damn expensive. I'd love to have one, though, and I think it's a great idea. You never know when it might save your life. I, however, feel very comfortable jumping without one. I'm not worried about my abilities. I worry about some of the idiots around me that I don't jump with all the time.
  12. I guess if you stay within the borders of this or other industrialized countries.
  13. Then why not just get rid of the "Talk Back" forum altogether? The description reads as such: "Anything non-skydiving related should be discussed here! Politics, relationships, soap box, etc... Skydiving discussions are welcome but you may have better luck in the General Skydiving Discussions forum. This forum is moderated but expect a noisy bar!" Am I missing something?
  14. Yes, this is a skydiving related website. No, this is not necessarily a skydiving related forum. Skydivers are people too that think about other things in life that really matter. I kind of like to speak with people that I have something in common with. What do you care? Why not just NOT look at this one and find one you do like if it bothers you so bad?
  15. Yeah...I agree about the gov't. It does get my hopes up, though.
  16. Damn...I feel so much like slinging a "personal attack" right now..........................................................................................................................................................But I won't.
  17. They're moving villiagers out so we can bomb the PISS out of them. I love it!!!
  18. What a HUGE catch that would be! There's speculation that UBL might be near also but I'm skeptical. Unless they caught them in a meeting or something. I would think, if you were Al-Qaida, that you'd want to keep #1 & #2 separated.
  19. CNN just confirmed with 2 sources that the group in Western Pakistan contains the #2 man and they are surrounded. Excellent!!!
  20. Ayman al-Zawahiri, #2 man in Al-Qaida organization has been said to be cornered in within about a 35km area in Pakistan. Hope they get him!
  21. That's just plain wrong...
  22. As was stated before, we signed a piece of paper stating that we were not conscientious objectors during enlistment. This guy did too. He's under obligation to his country. What others have gotten away with in the past in irrelevant. What this guy has done is against military law. I personally have no problem with the accusation of desertion.
  23. Not trying to put you down in any way and this is not in any way an attack on you. Just offering my view. Many of us posting have served and some have seen action and I say that he’s broken military law and should be punished accordingly. In any case, unless he’s received an unlawful order, he has no excuse but to show up for duty. I’ve seen more than just this guy get away with this in recent years. More should be punished for their actions. We have become way too lenient. It is sad but true that many in the US military do in fact reach higher ranks without being competent to serve in that position. The promotion system just isn’t that good. His rank of SSG is not necessarily indicative of his maturity, ability, or trustworthiness. I can’t put myself in his particular situation but I can tell you that, even though they aren’t targeted by the US, civilians die in war. It’s just sad fact of the matter. It’s been that way as long as there has been war. This guy probably did see horrific things during his previous tour. That does not, however, give him the right to desert. He’s still under obligation to his country. Americans also have a duty to refuse illegal orders. We are not free to commit war crimes
  24. My wife is a doctor. She agrees with the fluid in the ear possibility. Also, it's probably not outer but inner ear. Decongestants can help.
