  1. It always amazes me that you list "Proofreader" as your occupation. That's quite a vocabulary that you have. In reference to the topic of discussion, I'm sure those guys have an incredibly tough job right now. I'd cut them some slack and be thankful for what you do have. It will probably get worse within the next week.
  2. That picture shows everything but my AN/PEQ-2 Laser Pointer mounted on the top rail. That picture was taken right before I left Afghanistan and I'd taken it off. That, along with all my tan paint. That was a pain in the butt to remove. We also had the Trijicon ACOG sight. I typically kept my Aim-Point mounted because of all the close-in stuff we were doing. However, I really like the EOTech better. A teammate of mine had one. Those weren't issued, though and they're pretty damn expensive. EOTech That's a sweet weapon. I really...really...miss mine.
  3. Might I suggest a DPMS? Those are sweet!
  4. Me too! I REALLY miss the weapons I used to have. I eventually want to replicate what I had (with all the accessories) in a Bushmaster.
  5. WHERE ON EARTH did this line of reasoning come from? Silliness… How could anything in this thread possibly promote educated discussion? To use some of your colorful phrases, this is some “fucking, fucked up”, boring, tired and worn out “shit.”
  6. Do you think they drink beer like we do?
  7. You can eat anything if you cook it long enough...
  8. True...true... Never underestimate the power of idiots in large numbers.
  9. I hesitate to even advise this to a person with your number of jumps but it is helpful to some people with the larger canopies. You could always use a piece of parachute cord (550 cord) to tie it together right before you stick it in the bag. After your folds and after you've squeezed all the air out you can, wrap a piece of cord around the bundle and tie it off with an easily releasable knot. Once you stuff it in the bag, release the cord and pull the cord out. DON'T FORGET TO UNTIE the cord!!! DON'T FORGET TO UNTIE the cord!!! DON'T FORGET TO UNTIE the cord!!!
  10. There’s always a “Sponge Bob” (By the way, I like Sponge Bob.) that rises to the defense of assholes like this. That’s not directed at you by the way. Just making a general observation. Did you see the same video I saw? Does it not infuriate you? Maybe I just see it from a different perspective. I see it from the eyes of someone who’s been in harms way with the possibility of being captured and treated just like that guy who got his head cut off. Those that can’t see themselves in that situation but merely watch it on TV and are separated from the reality of it probably don’t get quite as pissed off. How many occurrences like this are you willing to take on the chin before military action is taken against these assholes in the same brutal fashion as they’ve shown us? I’m not saying that we should cut off their heads like they did in the same manner as one would cut the head off a fish. I’m just saying maybe a sniper bullet to the head and chest. That’s very humane in my opinion based on their actions. They’d be getting off easy. Attacking the enemy in war and killing them is not the same thing as arresting someone off the street for armed robbery, for example. What do you suggest? Send the local Iraqi police squad after them in order to arrest them and, by all means, make sure their rights are protected and that they receive due process? Hello….reality check…check one…check one two… That’s right…we’re the terrorists now… A gross misunderstanding of the elements of unconventional war. I don’t think we’re talking about the same thing. How would you know? Have you ever worked in interrogation? Merely looking at it from a results standpoint and not a moral one, every person has his/her breaking point and, given time with an adequate amount of coercion, will tell you everything they know. I’m not saying that there shouldn’t be limitations in place. I’m just saying that I don’t believe what you just said is altogether true in reference to interrogation being a bad way to get intelligence. What do you suggest? We don’t interrogate?
  11. So the honesty can come out. No ties. Nothing to lose by speaking his mind. Does'nt care what either party does in reference to him in the future. What a great choice for speaker!
  12. It's not about results anymore. It's not about what you can do. It's about how you felt about what you did even if all you accomplished was shit. Kind of like the Army taking away the black beret from the Rangers. Everybody in the Army nowadays can get themselves a little bit of that eliteness feeling even if they didn't do anything at all to earn it. Nevermind that the beret is probably the worst possible headgear in reference to usefullness. Doesn't matter. If you can "feel" like John Rambo, that's all that matters. They're just starting younger with the kids in this whole "red ink" thing. Don't want to hurt their feelings.
  13. You've got a shell. You don't need anyone to watch your back.
  14. You're not dying....you're just in Atlanta...
  15. Assuming that it was feasible, I'd go till about 1000ft.
  16. We have the best trained troops in the world. Our CIA is stocked with the highest quality people. The organization was strap hung for years, however, and has to be rebuilt. It takes a long time to get people deeply embedded to the point where they can provide actionable intel on the highest valued targets. If politicians don't emphasize our defense, we will grow weaker and more vulnerable as was witnessed during the Clinton years. I hope the lesson was learned and won't be repeated in the event that Kerry should win (Oh, the horror...). We do have the tools. They just have to be put into action.

    real man-BOOBS

    Just plain wrong...
  18. Good intel coupled with highly trained Special Ops who understand and are capable of precise and discriminating warfare. We have the tools.
  19. When I was in Kosovo, I was privileged to study under a Greek Grand Champion for a short while and he taught my team a combination of both Aikijutsu (much more violent predecessor to Aikido with its flowing movements, joint locks, and throws) and Jujitsu (with its grappling techniques). I think those have deadly real-world practicality. Unless you learn how to handle yourself when the fight goes to the ground, you're probably going to get your ass kicked. All those pretty high-flying kicks breaking boards are just that......pretty. You'd better be lightening fast and accurate if you're going to make those count.
