  5. I have been waiting for the $300 rebate for the Canon 5D. If B&H Photo doesn’t change their prices. After the rebate the cost for the 5D body will be just under $2600. The rebate savings will help to buy a 28mm & 35mm EF lens. Then I will have a Sigma 15mm, Canon 20mm, 24mm, 28mm & 35mm lens selection for the 5D full frame. Videointhesky freefall-video.com

  8. I was reading a Post and the topic of using Auto or Manual Focus for your still camera came up. So I thought it would be interesting to have a Poll on what Digital SLR’s are being used and if you use Auto or Manual Focus. If I missed your camera say what brand and model it is and if your are using Auto or Manual Focus

  11. Could it be that the Sony HC-1 sold in Europe has different features and functions than the Sony HC-1 that is sold in the U.S.? I have the A1 so it is not a problem for me. Videointhesky www.freefall-video.com
  12. Yes I did get my A1 on Friday It is almost the same size as my TRV-20 that I have been using. I’m going to set up another camera helmet (I will call Brain II, Brain I http://freefall-video.com/images/helmetPhotos/index.htm ) with the A1 and a 5D or my 20D with a 580ex flash. So I have not jumped the A1 yet. I ordered a Raynox HD 5005 .5 wide angle lens which show up this week. So while I’m waiting for parts to show up for the new helmet I will be able to go over the operating manual and work with the A1 and get to figure out how everything works. I do like the center marker for sighting in the camera and sight. I have notice that when I plug in the Cm Eye II in to the lanc jack the eye cup will not close all of the way. So I may have to leave the eye cup up some so the Came Eye II plug fits into the jack with no pressure on it. I would have liked the battery release to have been on the top and not the bottom. So far there is nothing that I have a problem with. What tapes are you using? Do you have any thoughts on Sony’s PHDVM-63DM or DVM63HD tapes? I have been using the Sony DVM60EXL in my TRV-20. What settings are you using for recording and playback? From the operating manual there are many settings to choose from. I have used manual focus set to infinity, white balance to the daylight setting, steady shot on and shutter speed at mostly 60 or faster depends on how much light there is. Have you used the slower shutter speeds in freefall? I would think that videoing swooping canopy's with a slower shutter speed would make for an interesting effect. I will let you know how the A1 works when I get it into the air. Videointhesky
  13. I should get my A1 from B&H Photo on Friday Thanks for the web sites info on the A1 I would like to know which wide angle lens that you finally chose to use on the A1. Would you mind sharing any tips that you have on setting up the A1 Thanks Again Everyone for the Info on the A1 Videointhesky
  14. Anyone that is going to get the Sony HVR-A1U HDV Camcorder there is a $500 rebate from Sony http://bssc.sel.sony.com/BroadcastandBusiness/info/promotions.shtml The rebate is from Jan 1 06 to March 31 06 At the B&H Photo web site the A1 is going for $2500.00 minus the $500.00 rebate from Sony you get it for $2000.00. There is a promotional code that I saw at dpreview.com that will reduce the price from $2500.00 to $2349.95. The same code will also reduce the Canon 5D price. Videointhesky www.freefall-video.com
  15. There is a post on dpreview.com that on April 1st Canon will announce a $300.00 rebate on the 5D’s http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1032&message=17512214 I was going to get a 5D, but now I will wait and see if the Rebate Rumor comes true. Videointhesky www.freefall-video.com

  17. What are the advantages of the of the Sony HVR-A1U over the Sony HDR-HC1? All I can tell from this Comparison Table of HDR-HC1 and HVR-A1 http://www.sonyhdvinfo.com/article.php?filename=Comparison-Table-of-HDR-HC1-and-HVR-A1 The A1 has better audio & can record in DVCAM the Cost of the A1 is $500.00 to $1000.00 more than the HC1. Have I missed anything between these two HDV camcorders? If you are a A1 or a HC1 user I would like to hear what your comments are. Videointhesky www.freefall-video.com
  18. Yes when these photos where taken I was using a Canon 10D with a Canon EF 20mm f2.8 & 550Ex flash. Since then I have added an 20D and replaced the 550EX flash with the 580EX.
  19. Hey Zee Very Cool Looking Helmet Setup It looks close to my Helmet setup http://www.freefall-video.com/images/helmetPhotos/index.htm Question for you about your flash configuration. From your photo it looks like the flash is in a L shape position, why don't you mount it flat so it won't be above your video camera? Is it because the Camera to Flash Metering? I had Minolta 7xi 35mm with a 5400xi Minolta Flash setup that I had with the flash laying down on my helmet with the flash contols on top , this was a clean and low profile. I use the same flash configuration with my Canon 10D/20D with a 580Ex flash Videointhesky www.freefall-video.com

  21. Hey Scott Here is my 2Cents on real time live video feed The most important thing is keeping line of sight between the Transmitter Antenna & the Receiving Antenna. I have found that being belly to earth and pointing with the camcorder back towards the Receiving Antenna works well. Videoing Tandems can cause the line of sight of Transmitter Antenna to over shoot the Receiving Antenna if you are low and looking up into The Tandems face or have a step angle as you are videoing. I have my Transmitter Antenna & battery pack set up in a fanny pack that is worn in the front under my jump suit. To power up the Transmitter. I plug in the battery pack to the Transmitter by a small connector the zip up the fanny pack and then the jumpsuit. The connection to the camcorder is done with a small heavy duty 3 wire cable that has a right angle mini 3wire stereo male plug the connects to the camcorder A/V out one end and to the Transmitter on the other end. This cable is has a straight mini 3wire stereo male and female connectors for a quick release if the helmet has to go away in an emergency. On the ground there is a Receiver Antenna that connects to a box that converts the wireless A/V signal to RCA jack output to a TV, VCR, and Camcorder. Power is 12vdc from a battery or 12v to 120 vac converter. Video from inside the jump plane is hit and miss If your close to a non metal door and the line of sight is on you may get a good video signal I have used this system from 13,000ft agl and below. I have some video from Speed Star Competition that took place at West Plains Skydiving that was recorded on the ground from a live Air to Ground Jump when I find it I will put it Link up so anyone that is interested can see the video quality of this system. I have had my system for 3 years.
