  2. Ahhhh...tequila...it has put me in a most pensive mode tonight. Why is Don Julio Blanco so damned tasty? Anyway, back to my original point. What is important to you in the upcoming elections. I'm talking real points and not anything stupid like 'get rid of GWB and all the republicans' or 'keep the dems in the minority' or anything like that. Issues. National level stuff. Now granted, I lean hard to the right, so please take that into account when reading this. I'm interested in what's important to people. Here's a few of mine: Kelo decision. This is an abomination. I've written my reps/senators/council people/mayor about the issue of property rights/eminent domain. If you support Kelo then I cannot vote for you - plain and simple. Deficit. GWB and the Republican congress have increased discretionary spending dramatically. With the new prescription drug program, they've increased entitlement spending as well. We're in deep kimchee that is only going to get deeper. The structure of our entitlement programs and the age demographics of our population make it mathematically imposible to keep the debt ceiling at the current (and recently raised) limit. It's going to go up and not by any small amount either. This is a turd that needs to be addressed and right now I don't see anyone doing it. Education. I'm still not sure I like the federal/state split here. I consider this a state issue for the most part. I'm thinking that as a society, we need to re-examine the K-12 paradigm of education and come up with something better. If we're going to remain a first world country, we need a first world education system and right now we're not there. Again, I would see the federal role as one of standard keeping and hope the states would take this as their burden, but that's just me. Perhaps a federal bonus of $10K for anyone with a Master's Degree teaching within their field. $20K for engineers/scientists. Bonus exempt from federal taxes. Typing/thinking aloud here. That alone wouldn't do it. Major reform needed in this area at local/state/federal levels. The status quo will not do. Environment Right leaning Anvil care about the environment? Absolutely. Kyoto was flawed beyond repair and we were right to pull out. However, we are NOT right not to take the lead on this in a manner conducive to our own economic needs as a nation. Changes in local/state building regulations for new construction homes need to be made to increase energy efficiency for new homes. CAFE regs need some scrutiny and possibly adjusting. A national energy policy needs to be put into effect and like the policy or not, GWB was the first to address it at the national level. It needs to continue to be addressed and be a national priority. Alternative energy sources, bio fuels, bio lubricants, and increased efficiency need to come to the forefront. A new energy infrastructure and new nuke plants - yes, nuke, which is safe and efficient, get over it - will be part of that and NIMBY concerns will emerge. Iraq Like it or not - we're there. And like it or not, the outcome of our invasion will affect the entire world. I feel we need to be there for as long as it takes for Iraq to form as a nation, develop an infrastructure, and be able to defend itself from internal and external enemies. Tall order. It might take a while. We're going to feel some economic, personal, and diplomatic pain - especially with the Iranian factor. However, withdrawal is simply not an option and no politician advocating it should be taken seriously. A few things I think should be important to anyone voting in the upcoming elections. Thoughts? Comments? Random insults? Hope eveyone has a good, safe weekend! Zhills for me tomorrow! Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!!

  8. Ahhhhh...you saw funjumper's post, did you? Good! You obviously knew where my quote came from then, having read my post - and even quoted it - must also undoubtedly know I never attributed the insult to you, though you act as if I did. Most puzzling behavior on your part. Ahhh well. Anyhoo, I don't recall anyone becoming agitated or perturbed over that, yet my innocuous reread for comprehension quote creates so much turmoil. Tsk tsk. The double-standards in here. For the record, if I want to call somebody an idiot, I do it via PM. I post here in SC for fun and jocularity. Lucky, you state GWB has screwed up the country from every angle, and then only come up with one topic to discuss - the deficit. Granted, the deficit has many facets, but that's hardly a very good showing to support your hypothesis. We've discussed the deficit before, you and I. I believe the last time we ended the thread with you being angry about the deficit while simultaneously advocating an increase in entitlement spending and denouncing GWB's attempt to eliminate Dept. of Education programs that had been shown to be ineffective. Quite humorous. Which aspect of the budget deficit would you like to discuss now? Discretionary spending? Entitlement spending? Amount of debt held by the public? Gov't working capital funds, perhaps?
  9. Vinny gooooooooood booooy.
  10. Madame Pope, I have a confession to make. I have drank tequila every day in April. And I confess that I am not sorry for it. Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!!
  11. My, my, my have I gotten our left leaning denizens perturbed here. Most humorous. Right wing sack of shit = OK. Get your facts straight and get back to us = pompous and berating. Remember that bailiff from Night Court? Oooooooooooook. Think that if you like. Ahhh...bwaaaahahahahahahahahaaaaaa!!!! Haaaaaahahahahaaaaa! Lucky, I'm beginning to lose count of the number of times you state Bush has screwed up the country from every angle and failed to state why you believe so. Perhaps you might provide some proof of this. Unlike you, I don't take it as something res ipsa loquitor. Other left leaning fellows, if it bothers you that folks who have served in the military have different views from yours with regards to the Swift Vets' claims, then I would recommend not using Kerry's service in comparison to GWB's to make a political point. Rather, I would slam GWB's service without comparison to Kerry's, because saying 'Kerry went to Vietnam' tends to reminds conservatives how the man's shipmates from his wardroom think of him. Reading is fundamental is an utterly hilarious comment - and an truthful one. I'm a pompous JACKASS Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!!
  12. Ugly pompous JACKASS - that's what Vinny is! What a tequila swilling buffoon! Do your worst! Ha! Muuuuhuhuhahahahahaaaaaaa! Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!!
  13. I am a dead sexy JACKASS. I am so ugly, that I am just dead sexy. I was looking at myself in my watering trough today. I have such nice, long, and floppy JACKASS ears. Just thought everyone would like to know. Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!!
  14. May I recommend the Brickskeller Brew Pub in Dupont Circle and Kron Chocolatier's truffles while you're in DC... Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!!
  15. Vinny clearly understands Naval operations and structure far better than you. And, for the record, I read the accounts of the people who served on his boat. After reading the other data, reconciling it with my own experiences, and speaking with a couple of actual Swifties, I've made my decision on how I feel about the matter. If you disagree, so be it.
  16. Traitor. then again....that does leave more tequila for ME to consume... Absinthe must be better than I remember... Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!!
  17. all is well and normal... whuzzup, mi amigo? You got some tequila ready for Seb? Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!!
  18. I haven't lost the argument at all...you're ignoring facts. READ THE POST FROM FUNJUMPERS INITIAL POST ON DOWN. READ FOR COMPREHENSION. Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!!
  19. That wasn't what the fellow was referring to. Read again. Funjumper's response to "Actually, many of the Swift Vets were in the same boat unit at the same time... but thanks for playing!! " was a non-clicky link to the wikipedia article from which my quote came. Reading is fundamental. If you and funjumper were actually familiar with Naval service - which you aren't - you would realize what sort of complement the boats went out with, what 'served with' means, and how amazing it is that so many from Kerry's wardroom spoke out against him. Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!!
  20. Re-read for comprehension. Read what is stated and not what you want to see. A quick perusal would show you that 'boat unit' was stated and not 'boat'. Reading is fundamental. Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!!
  21. Drink tequila and then try reading Kierkegaard. Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!!
  22. I just got a PM from somebody I could have sworn I had blocked. I just reblocked them. I've only blocked one person and do not recall unblocking them and I haven't been hammered enough to make myself lose memory recently. Did this ever happen to anyone else? Problem or stupid-Vinny error, dropzone.com still kicks ass.
  23. Reading is fundamental. "SBVT counts, in total, 16 of 23 officers who served with Kerry in Coastal Division 11 as members" Odd that my Vietnam comment has brought out such rage among our left leaning dz.com'ers. The thread has been officially hijacked to the Swifties vs. Kerry topic! Ha! Quite funny. I don't think that picking apart Kerry's records and such really add much to the conversation. I think the salient take away from the swifties is that so many of his fellow officers chosed to publicly speak out against him. To me, as a fellow who has served in several wardrooms, that is utterly amazing and speaks volumes of the man. I can't think of a single person with whom I've served that I detest enough to do something of that sort. Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!!
  24. Get your facts straight and get back with us. Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!!
