It's an accurate statement that should need no expounding. The article quoted stated nothing. Its intent - which apparently worked - was to make people believe race and not guilt were the reason for the execution of criminals by use of statistics, which mean nothing in and of themselves. If someone wishes to convince me of that, then they can show me the evidence specific to the case and prove it on the merits of the case itself - not with statistics on race. If such merits existed, then the author would have presented them and made his/her point. They didn't. Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!!

In the 60's perhaps. Today's racists are hard core democrats. Non negotiable fact of life. My spelling is quite apropos for the party that supports racial discrimination for so many reasons...other than law enforcement, of course. Again...READ. I never wrote those words. Race and guilt are independent of one another. If they were guilty and hanged - great. If they were given an unfair sentence or trial due to their race and/or the bigotry of the jury/judge, I'd have a problem with that. Statistics as stated mean nothing in and of themselves. And their race had what, exactly, to do with their guilt? Nothing is the answer. Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!!

What a nice list from the Daily Kos and the DemoKKKlanic Underground - bastions of truth[sic] both. Nice to see they even cite the National Enquirer. About their reading level I suppose - at least they're somewhat literate. They even took a swipe at Fox News - has anyone there stated a liberal SCOTUS nominee's wife should do the country a favor and feed him high cholesterol meals so he dies an early death and called him a despicable person on the air, by the way? No? Thought not. Quick comparison to CNN for you (yep; happened. So many other instances...but that one stands out). They have compiled quite the list though. Some things are bullshit - anybody want to tell me what's wrong with doing something legal with your own money, for example? - and others are true. I think what's salient is how the party and populace react to the transgressions of their leaders. With regards to El Jefe Clintonista, everybody's FAVORITE Spanish expert and driver Ted Kennedy, Gerry Studds, Al $harpton, and Je$$e Jack$on I think we all know the answer. The difference is striking. If Mr. Nick Wride wishes to define Republican morality by the transgressions (substantiated and unsubstantiated) of those listed I'd LOVE to see what he has to say about the substantiated transgressions of Messrs. Clinton, Studds, $harpton, Jack$on, and, yes, everybody's FAVORITE Spanish expert and driver, Ted Kennedy and how they make the DemoKKKlanic Party appear when viewed through the morality lens. LMFAO. Neither party has a right to the moral high ground. That should even be obvious to idiots who read the National Enquirer and take it seriously enough to cite it. What a bunch of fucktards. I apologize to all of the agave farmers on plantations in the paradise of Jalasco for not drinking MORE tequila! I shall endeavor to make up for this transgression to the best of my ability and the limit of my liver. Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!!

Once again - I NEVER STATED THAT SUCH THINGS WERE MADE ILLEGAL BECAUSE THEY WERE FROM ANY RELIGION. If you think the gulf between Christian law, sharia law, or mandates of the Druze should preclude any intellectual discussion, 'tis your opinion. Again - i don't believe it's YOUR right or the right of anyone to preclude government officials or anyone else from having a conversation on any topic. I'd agree with that. There are limitations to how far such can go, obviously. I don't think those limitations have even been approached in this case. I do support the power of the pardon but would be irate were it used that way. Hell - I was irate over Clinton's use of it (Marc Rich in particular) and he didn't come anywhere close to doing anything so reprehensible. -

You're not following. I don't think YOU or anyone else has the right to tell anyone what discussions they may have with anyone else. You apparently disagree. That's your opinion and you're welcome to it, however indefensible that position might be in a free society. The illegality of theft, murder, slander and many other crimes are great examples of religious philosophies that have been incorporated into legal systems for years. The existence of commonality between said philosophies and the legal system should in and of itself be evidence that discussions concerning religion and how its tenets might be incorporated into government might be a useful thing. If tenets were incorporated to an extent that it would be imposing a particular religion upon anyone, I'd disagree with it. That's not the case here. The notion that you or anyone else or society as a whole has the right to prevent intellectual discussion on ANY topic by government officials with their coworkers, friends, or families or even strangers they might run into is absolutely absurd and indefensible by any standard - so long as one believes in free thought (which I most certainly do). I'm kind of ambivalent about the primaries. I think Bill Richardson on the left is the best of the bunch on that side of the house, but he has no chance of winning. I disagree with a lot of things Huckabee says, but I do like his willingness to look at the FairTax (which needs work, but is a good starting point). Having read Obama's take on foreign policy, he is without question not ready to step into the Oval Office. It's going to be an interesting election cycle!

Again, you miss the point. READ. Your innate prejudice against religion is blinding you. There is nothing wrong with applying religious concepts to government and in many regards it's a good thing, as religious philosophies have a lot to offer. It's when specific religions are imposed upon others - which is not the case in DSE's example - that it's reprehensible. Who are you or anyone else to tell anyone they can't have a discussion about any subject they desire? Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!! -

Not at the governor's residence...so the article you linked is innacurate, eh? Or did you indeed read it? I fully support he right of elected officials to hold meetings of any sort with anyone and to make the meeting minutes or recordings available to the public or keep them private. I think the salient question would be why don't YOU? Is privacy a problem for you? Or is it freedom of speech or thought that's an issue for you? Face it - your post is little more than an attempt to attack Romney using the innate bigotry and prejudice of those harboring resentment against those who practice religion of any sort or those who practice the Mormon religion. Sans merit - utterly. Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!! -

LMFAO. I never suggested muder was made illegal under any legal system for religious purposes. Murder is illegal and its a fundamental commandment of Christianity. Christian philosophy applied to government. Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuh. Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!! -

Again - balderdash at best. If you'd read the article you linked, you'd have found that the principles their philosophical discussions decided upon as best to apply to government were all quite secular with the possible exception of freedom to worship. They were not meeting as a staff, they were meeting before working hours at the governor's residence. No requirement to show up - it was voluntary. Staff meetings on governor's staffs aren't exactly voluntary. I see nothing wrong with such meetings. Why, pray tell, would you think the contents of private meetings should be made public? There's nothing wrong with politicians practicing their religion using its philosophy to make decisions. "Thou shalt not kill" - Christian philosophy. Anyone have a problem with the government making murder illegal? It's when politicians attempt to impose a particular religion upon others that it becomes an issue. Your attack on Messrs. Romney and Leavitt is absurd. Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!! -

I think you're reading what you want to into that article about Mr. Leavitt. What the hell do Mr. Leavitt's actions as Governor have to do with Mr. Romney's own proclivities? How did you reach such a conclusion? Because they happen to be of the same faith? That's balderdash - putting it quite politely. Are all Muslims terrorists? They're all of the same faith, right? Absurd! Furthermore, what is wrong with then-governor Leavitt holding meetings with people of his faith before working hours out of the office? Hmm? What, exactly? In fact, what's your problem with the discussion of applying Mormon theological philosophy to government? Their philosophy of frugality, tithing, not drinking, and loving their families/fellow human beings are a few facets of the Mormon teachings and beliefs that could be very useful to any government. Do you have a problem with Machiavelli, Kierkegaard, Christianity, Islam, Hegel, Kant, or Sartre as well? T'would seem that ala Hegel, your own convictions have blinded you to the facts at hand. I personally find this demonization of politicians who practice religion to be absolutely absurd. It was absurd when JFK had to calm the electorate and explain that he wouldn't be taking orders from the Pope. It's equally absurd now regarding Mr. Romney and anybody else who happens to come under attack for similar reasons. Kerry and everyone's FAVORITE driver and Spanish expert, Ted Kennedy are prominent pro-abortion Catholics. They're obviously not applying the tenets of their religion to politics. Is it OK for Democrats to believe in a religion and Republicans not to do so in your book? Absolutely ABSURD in all regards! Your attack on Mr. Romney is utterly baseless. Interesting list. I think the utter failure of the Doha round of the GATT would be among my top 10, but that's just me. Some of Mugabe's atrocities were definitely under-reported, but I REALLY hate that SOB and might have a skewed view. FairTax supporters at political events haven't gotten the attention they deserved from the press, so their massive turnout of supporters was a bit under-reported as well I'd say. Nice list, nonetheless. GREAT to see Angola doing well. were the west coast of Africa to become more stable, many good things would result.
