Will This Get the Left Anti Evangelicals Panties In a Bundle?

Perhaps. Do you believe that shareholders would allow the companies to absorb those tax breaks out of the goodness of their hearts and have no subsequent increase in the price of their product? I don't. I'd have to look at them more closely - in particular see the magnitude of the tax break, reason for it, profit & profit margin of the companies getting the breaks, and the predicted impact of their repeal. From what little I know my general opinion is that the breaks are too generous, but that's a very uneducated opinion that might change if I took a closer look. That's in the UAE, not Saudi Arabia. Right peninsula, wrong country. UAE is a far more forward thinking and western friendly nation. Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!!

?? What other inconvenient facts? When it comes down to it, price is ALWAYS a function of supply and demand. Refining capacity and other factors affect the supply, siphoning of 0.3% of crude has a SMALL effect on supply, but when it comes down to it the price will always be a function of supply and demand, each of which has other subordinate dependencies. That's why it's hilarious to see an idiot talking about Federal intervention to get relief at the gas pump. Evil oil companies, oil company profits (no mention of profit margin), windfall profits taxes and the like dominate the rhetoric there - anyone hearing it should automatically think 'fucking idiot' about whomever is spewing it. Suppy and demand are driving those prices - two small [sic] countries called India and China are having a great effect right now on that market. Of course, most of the fucktards who believe the federal government should have an active role in setting commodity prices probably can't find either China or India on a map and have never heard of Adam Smith. That could be more a vestige of the media and its liberal bias and the particular issues in question than democratic candidates themselves. The conservatives get more attention to their faith because many base their opposition to abortion (one of their main issues in almost every national election) purely on faith and get many votes from a voting base that agrees with them on it. Talk about abortion and it gets viewers watching and a certain voting base to the polls - for both sides. By comparison, little attention was paid to Catholic opposition/disgust with Senator Kerry over his pro-abortion stance, his Catholicism be damned. Some, granted, but nothing compared to the fury over Rev. Wright. Hagee had some nasty comments about Catholics and about foreign policy, but other than Iraq foreign policy isn't really a key voter issue, so it received little attention. Sheesh. What a thread. I don't think it will get their panties in a bunch at all. They want the votes and if doing something that disgusts them gets those votes, they'll be all for it. Religion disgusts some on the left but not all - it's a good move for him politically. He'll lose the state in the general regardless. I'd have to see a breakdown to have an opinion on the filibusters. I do NOT support filibusters for votes on Presidential appointees but do think they have a role for other legislation. If they were filibustering something goat-fuck stupid - like the recent Armenian genocide vote, I wouldn't really give a rats ass. If the Dem's aren't pursuing investigations then I think they're being stupid. Then again, they pursued the Plame case and the person who admitted revealing her former CIA connections wasn't even charged. Don't listen to the man very often - can't remember the last time actually - but if that's his take, he's dead wrong. Won't be the first dumbassed thing he's said, and won't be the last I'm sure. Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!!

What nuclear option are you speaking of? Reducing the required # of senate votes for cloture? Not sure where you got your stat on filibusters - never heard that before. I'd be interested in seeing a breakdown/data on that. Republicans play softball by not taking on the left head on as they tend to do with them. And what investigations are you speaking of? The right lost the Legislative branch in '06 for several reasons - their poor performance in the majority included. Apparently it didn't work. The Republicans are likely to lose some more seats I think. They've played softball with the left for far too long. This democratic congress has been some smashing success, eh? The RNC should have highlighted that better. How about the first 100 days of Speaker Pelosi? End to earmarks? Etc? They played softball - they paid. They've done a horrid job as the minority party in Congress, unlike the Democrats, who did a decent job (for representing their interests at any rate; horrid for the US populace). GWB is so reviled that the left has been able to get a pass on their HORRID performance in control of the legislative branch. The right has allowed them to do so and will pay the price. To the detriment of the country. Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!!

Probably is in some circles - those populated by cowards who support racial discrimination under the guise of affirmative action, won't admit that they're racists, and then attempt to project that image onto others. They'll be voting in hordes for the Democratic candidate this November. Granted, not all Democrats are racists, but those who use 'white working class voters' and like phrases certainly are and their candidate of choice and/or his/her sycophants will be blasting John McCain et al for being racist leading up to Nov in all likelihood. Hard to give anyone who supports racial discrimination for collegiate admission and attends a debate hosted by Al $harpton any credibility, but some appear to do so - on the left that is. Many of them are. Glad to see this launched. I know a couple of folks in PEO SHIPS and might pulse them for a bit of info on this - I am curious about a couple of things on this ship. Miss you guys. I'm visiting home then headed to San Diego for my new job here in a couple of days. People still call me commander on occasion - may God help us all. Hmmm...a Clausewitzian conundrum I do believe...if you accept the hypothesis that war is an extension of politics - and I do myself, then any leader using war vice diplomacy is incapable of supporting the troops of their nation used for that political endeavor. I don't think that the case at all. The VA should be one of many issues receiving little attention in the media these days. Since my return I've found the coverage of everything disappointing and shallow. The Economist and the BBC spoiled me whilst living abroad... That damned LCS program was so overbudget I'm amazed she was ever launched. Interesting to see how the testing and acceptance goes.

I was using an excel spreadsheet for a bit. Sometimes I like getting the stamp from the dive shop, though. Don't have most of my dives logged. Red Sea IS some of the best diving out there. Dahab rocks and Ras Mohammed - just beautiful! Oman has some pretty incredible diving as well in the Dimaniyat Islands.

Condoleeza Rice as Possible VP Candidate
TheAnvil replied to masterblaster72's topic in Speakers Corner
SS, Medicare, Medicaid, and entitlement spending have put us under a mountain of debt. The discretionary spending spree of this administration, though despicable in many regards, is not what put us in the current fiscal situation though it did exacerbate it somewhat. I'm looking forward to seeing a budget cycle under a McCain administration. A different ball-game it will be. Dr. Rice would be as good a VP or POTUS as any - far more educated and probably the most accomplished pianist to hold the office. I don't think she want it, however. Probably press speculation. The majority of dumbfucks that would vote for somebody because of their race would be very hard for the republican party to lure away from the democrats. That's a voting base they shouldn't waste time pursuing. Governor Palin of Alaska would be a nice VP for McCain, I do believe. She'd get the gun-nut vote, decent environmental record, nice conservative credentials. -
John McCain - 10 things to know about him
TheAnvil replied to funjumper101's topic in Speakers Corner
If that's the best the moveon.org idiots can come up with then, they're as dumb as I think they are. Unfortunately the average level of education in America is such that many people might be dumb enough to let such a list sway their vote. Thanks, NEA. OOPS! Another thread... Lawrocket's and Rehmwa's comments are pretty much right on. I like McCain in many regards and dislike him in others. He's the best of the three likely candidates by a long, long shot. Look forward to seeing how a McCain-led executive branch would conduct business during the budget cycle. -
I think the budget process under a McCain administration would be VERY, VERY interesting. He would probably veto until the Congress over-rode him, then go to the public showing them what they'd spent a bit more openly than has ever been done before. That would be a good thing.

Hmmmm...interesting. I think I'd have dinner with the following for varying reasons: 1. Dr. Kallend 2. BillVon 3. NerdGirl 4. Wendy 5. Amazon 6. Lawrocket 7. Gawain 8. Rushmc 9. Rehmwa 10.Nightingale

Pentagon Staffer Guilty for Handling Secrets to China
TheAnvil replied to Gawain's topic in Speakers Corner
I assume you mean Scooter Libby. What the hell does his case have to do with this shitbag handing out classified info? Libby was convicted of obstruction of justice and some other charge - perjury perhaps; I forget. Didn't GWB commute his sentence? The two aren't related in any manner I can see. Or are you talking about some other Scooter? Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!!
