  1. no fun... Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!!
  2. Winnie the Pooh and Luke Skywalker have come to the forefront of the Democratic foreign policy discussion. Hot damn, hot damn, but it's just about the reading level I'd expect from most of those clowns. Bill, I know you read at the level of Foreign Policy, The Economist, & The Wilson Quarterly. But you've got to admit - this is funny (and I know it wasn't Danzig's message in its entirety; he's a three digit IQ). This is too good to pass up. So who will be the next great thinker the left wingers turn to for inspiration on foreign policy? I say it's either Chicken Little or Brave Brave Sir Robin. Bwaaaahahahahahahahaaaaaaaaa!! 3. Federal, state, or county. It doesn't really matter, as the market is affected by the government. The data I saw a few weeks ago but cannot find showed solar subsidized pretty well. I think the ITC for commercial solar was set to expire @ the end of CY08, but don't know much about the structure - direct or indirect - of any subsidies going to the solar energy industry.
  4. DoE's FY09 budget submission to OMB actually reduced the $$ requested for alternative energy research, unfortunately. I disagree with that - among other things. Clicky Right spirit - reduce spending - but the wrong area. They DID increase the science budget, however. I don't like the subsidies, truth be told, but don't think an instantaneous removal of them would be a good thing for the economy or the energy industry itself. I've seen a couple of breakdowns of those subsides, and I think solar is EXTREMELY well subsidized per kW/H if memory serves. Wish I could find a complete and up to date breakdown.
  5. This is good stuff. I think it will reduce the need from the US perspective by a small bit IF it pans out that full scale production is feasible, but the fact is that the Middle East will be getting $$ from the rest of the world for their oil for quite some time.
  6. Clicky The federal government has NOT let the free market take its course WRT energy. Direct and indirect subsidies have been in place for quite some time. I think there will be no one single solution, rather a combination of several alternatives. The bio-fuels have much merit - as do the ideas of opening up ANWR and doing a bit more offshore drilling. I think increased efficiency, in conjunction with expanded domestic exploration and several biofuels will be the ticket.
  7. Clicky Drill? Why? The bugs are coming! I think increased drilling would be just dandy, but another refinery or two might be needed as well. Opening up ANWR would be a good thing as well. I hope the bug thing pans out. THat would be cool. In and of itself it probably won't be able to supply the U.S. , but it could be another source of supply.
  8. Marx and Engels did advocate a progressive tax system...
  9. LMFAO. Probably. But at the high school level at best, nonetheless. Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!!
  10. I read an article Sen. Obama wrote for Foreign Affairs. The grammar was just like the article's content - at the high school level at best.
  11. Clicky I visited this country in '01, right before it got really bad under that worthless sonofabitch Mugabe. Every time I read an article about what goes on there it just ticks me off. Sickening. Interesting articles in the last issue of Foreign Affairs about Sudan and Congo, speaking of Africa. 12. ALL of those candidates are tall! They all enjoy basketball, haven't gone under a limbo stick in years, and enjoy the continued oppression of the short man! Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!!
  13. ROFLMFAO. Well well. It looks as if jet lag, not looking at this data for some time, and my own spreadsheets' format got the better of me. EJC did produce a budget surplus for three of eight vice two of eight years. I glanced at the wrong column. Oh darn. BFD. The national debt did not decrease once during his tenure - or after for that matter - so as executed there was no surplus for any of them. Maybe if health care were socialized, we further punish US corporations for success, we increase taxes, make SOX a bit harsher, make it easier for workers to unionize and harder for them to disestablish unions, and we allow the NEA to design a national education bill and pass it sans change, that would balance the budget. I think not. Non-discretionary spending that will hit us in the near future has been a problem allowed to metastasize over the past several decades. Congress and not the president has the power of the purse, FYI. Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!!
  14. Fix one of your links - it doesn't work. You haven't shown anything to anyone who knows what they're talking about (I do). Read and learn. The Congressional Budget Office is a government organization whose mandate is to provide nonpartisan, and timely analyses to aid in economic and budgetary decisions on the wide array of programs covered by the federal budget and the information and estimates required for the Congressional budget process. If you knew this, when examining historical data on the budget you might have found this and actually looked at the government data showing the government's revenues, outlays, debt, and surpluses. But you didn't do that. Now, if you'll look at the Legislative branch of government's OWN DATA, you'll see that only TWO of the budgets submitted by EJC's OMB produced surpluses. Non-negotiable fact of life - live with it. Or do the liberal thing and avoid it - do as you like. Your claim that GWB was left with a budget surplus in err. If you knew the budget process you'd realize that elections fall in the fiscal year subsequent to the calendar year in which they're held. Armed with this knowledge, you'd realize that any President winning in a November election had NOTHING to do with the budget for the calendar year following the calendar year in which he was elected - unless he was the incumbent. If you knew the budget process. IF you'd known this, you'd have looked @ CBO data and seen that EJC's last budget year produced a... DEFICIT for GWB to follow upon. But CBO data is a bit skewed, as budget execution often differs from its original plan due to cost over runs and the like, many of which are not realized until a couple of years later. A bureau under Treasury's purvey, the Bureau of the Public Debt, keeps track of the actual debt of the U.S. government. Clicky You say there was a surplus - find it. Please. Point it out. So tell us - do the DoTreasury and CBO not know what they're talking about? Welcome to reality - face it whenever you like. Or...not. BTW, Sir Kallend - I've never stated GWB's an economic wizard. He ignored the Doha round completely other than putting Bob Portmann on it for a while, screwed up royally with the stupid steel tariff imbroglio, and his second tax cut wasn't well structured. Glad to see you're now a fan of the Heritage foundation. Perhaps it will be an educational experience for you perusing some of their info. 15. I think that the propaganda piece comes back to my original statement about the constant campaign mentality in DC. In the abstract, one can understand the House being in a constant campaign mode of sorts. The Senate and the President, however, should not be. If the Executive and the other half of the Legislative are maintaining the constant campaign mentality, that's a problem that ALL of us should be worried about. It means our elected officials are more prone to the will of the masses than to doing what they were elected to do - lead. Serious issue. McClellan, though a bit of a weasel and full of shyte on other things, should be lauded for bringing it up. The fact that it's been ignored by many amidst the partisan clamor is a testament to the need for it to get attention. Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!!
  16. Read up on some facts. OMB didn't disband in FY00 - it kept RIGHT ON GOING. 'All those years of surplus' equates to FY99 and FY00 alone. EJC's OMB drafted eight budgets - FY94-FY01. Ending up on a deficit note. Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!!
  17. Compared to the policies of socialization that the left espouses, I do support GWB. Always will be against socialism, racial discrimination for collegiate admission/employment, mandatory union membership, lack of school choice, moronic gun laws, higher taxes, and the like. Just because a Republican president has done poorly in many areas doesn't mean I abandon all sense and become a liberal. Ha! Never in a million years should I live that long. Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!!
  18. Odd the last budget he produced left a nice deficit year for GWB, then, eh? Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!!
  19. I'm living just south of you now, so I voted for the fellow. Cheers, Vinny
  20. Good luck! Hope the next 20 are exciting! Medicins sans Frontiers, perhaps?
  21. My hero? GWB 'tis not. He's been the lesser of two evils in 00 and 04 and John McCain would have made a far better president and should have won in '00. Keep drinking iced tea. FY01, EJC budget, was a deficit year, by the way.
  22. Think as you like. You haven't done as I instructed and do not know what you are speaking of. If you did, you'd know better. BTW - I've been critical of the spending of GWB and do not support everything he does; his second tax cut in particular was poorly structured. You're quite mistaken - not an infrequent occurrence. Examine the extant facts and get back to me. Perhaps then you'll realize that cutting taxes is sometimes the right thing to do, that sending and not tax cuts cause deficits, and that revenues frequently increase a couple of years after tax cuts. In the case of GWB's tax cuts revenues dipped and then rebounded a couple of years later. Unfortunately, the excessive spending ate it all up - and more. Your hero Clinton's last budget was a deficit, BTW. His OMB submitted FY01's budget and that was a deficit year. Until then, talk away and drink up on the iced tea! 23. So now you're changing from the economic crisis being decades in the making to the state of the economy at the end of El Jefe Clintonista's administration - ROFLMFAO! EJC had the benefit of the internet explosion fueling the economy for the majority of his presidency. Towards the end, it was in slow down which was a contributing factor to the defeat of Lipton's best spokesperson ever, Al Gore. The economy was doing ok up until a quarter or two before Nov 00, but boded poorly for the future because no action was taken by EJC or his predecessors to mitigate the coming onslaught of non-discretionary spending about to hit - the salvos coming from SS/Medicare/Medicaid in particular. Executive branch alone isn't culpable, as the Legislative branch did nothing either, regardless of the party in charge. They DID exacerbate the situation with the prescription drug plan that was recently passed, so perhaps saying they did nothing wasn't true. The upcoming disaster should have been addressed a couple of decades ago. It's a tough problem that's metastasized and we're about to pay dearly. The strong dollar isn't coming back - just like the outsourced jobs - regardless of who goes in office. The left, though will never state that. Nice change of subject, though. 24. Go look at federal revenues, look at their trend since the tax cuts, and get back to me when you've done so. CBO has a few nice PDF files you can view. Name one politician that's not a proven liar. Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!!
  25. No it was NOT healthy, and saying it was will not change that fact - drink as much Lipton as you'd like. Think as you like WRT Libertarians or anything else - I always do. You will hear idiots on the left making similar statements to Sen Obama with great frequency, class warfare being one of their favorite tools to motivate other idiots to the polls to vote for them. Increasing the capital gains tax because it would be 'fair' [sic] will repeatedly come out in their rhetoric -guaranteed. Just like 'tax cuts for the rich' and 'the rich got richer and the poor got poorer' and other moronic things will also come from them, demonstrating a complete and utter lack of knowledge of economics. Wealth redistribution might also pop up - dumbfuck concept. The idiotic windfall profits tax on oil companies has already come up - and will probably become part of their platform on the left. Another demonstration of economic incompetence. They'll run like cowards from any basic question regarding the tax or its purpose, screaming about corporations stealing $$, corporate greed, the pitiful poor, and how darling Cletus can't afford to drive his turbo-charged truck with country squire mud bog tires and a jack kit back and forth to the liquor store repeatedly because of high gas prices. They might even get elected with such nonsense, to the detriment of the economy. We shall see - hopefully they're not elected, Sen Obama in particular, but I have a horrid feeling the left will take more seats in both the house and Senate. I was looking forward to seeing a McCain OMB in action as well as the budget cycle under a McCain administration during the primaries eight years ago, and I would love to see it in action over the next four years.
