From my other angry thread on this, everyone should know I'm ticked off. However, this speech hoopla doesn't negate all of the other intel we had in any manner. I'm going to be pissed off at this and formulate my overall opinion later. Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!!

I can't let the nation slip into the hands of someone like Gephardt/Kerry/Liebermann. The level of detest I feel towards them and their ilk on the national leftist scene makes my vote in the next election a foregone conclusion at the moment. It would take a LOT to change that. Angry Little Anvil..........the things I write after a long day. I'm still smiling, just perturbed at the president right now. I'll be in Hollister tomorrow around 11ish or so - I haven't seen you in far too long. Have a meeting in the morning at 9 I can't miss. I was flying early early early this morning and there was a THICK cloud of smoke over the Marina/Fort Ord area from an uncontrolled fire thereabouts. Not good. It was HOT from the heat up there in the air. Hollister is going to be your best bet tomorrow because of that unless some wacky things happen today with the fire.

...me the hell off. Billvon, start salivating. Skydekker and Wendy, you too. I just read the news today (or yesterday; I am a bit overtasked right now). This stuff about Foley and the NSC staff I just read has utterly flabbergasted and enraged me. GWB not taking responsibility for his speech ticks me off and is NOT the standard of leadership I expect. The mere possibility that the entire cabinet did not read the SOTY at LEAST once prior to its delivery reeks of managerial ineptitude. In general, I'm ticked. Add to that my power systems/design/thesis woes and I'm an angry little Anvil at politics (and I'm STILL smiling

Sometimes Singapore has it right. Remember that jackass who was tagging cars over there? I wish they had DOUBLED his lashes!

Thanks everyone. All tests came back negative. I think she's was more pissed off/upset at the accident than anything else. Pardon my absence from the banter today, but I'm overwhelmed @ work. Piss. Beers to all, Vinny

Something EZ I do is marinate chicken breasts in Italian dressing for about 45 min-2 hrs then pat them dry. Then put on a dry rub, let it sit for about 15 min -30 min, then grill 'em. Or use a wet sauce. Quite tasty.

I am chuckling at this. Do you REALLY want me to go through the incidents in which Iraq either kicked out weapons inspectors, didn't grant them access to desired sites, etc? You have absolutely no idea what GWB is referring to when he said that. Assuming that one statement summarizes his reasons for taking us to war (and I disagree with the Iraqi-centric tilt of his foreign policy) is lunacy. Construe it as a lie if you like.

Hi Bill! Sorry for the delay in response. I've been co-tasked to be the power engineer in addition to the ADACS (atttitude, dynamics, and controls for you non techies) engineer on a project with a preliminary design review in two weeks because of a personal emergency on one of my design team bubbas. Screw me. I've spent the night teaching myself some stuff about power systems. I hate power. That and my friend's needle incident have kept me preoccupied. When I get myself down to SoCal I'm going to bring some cigars and good KY bourbon and we'll talk about Africa etc. I LOVED being there and am sure you did too. Between our two perspectives and experiences I'll bet we could formulate a policy towards that continent that would be the envy of Condi Rice et al. Lord knows we've been virtually listless in that arena for far too long. Don't know about you, but I've always wanted to tour Lalibela in Ethiopia.... Anyway, from my own perspective, I disagree with the State Department's assessment. I can't say as I've seen Uzbeks being starved by their government, so despite my being an engineer and not a political scientist, I will not concede this point. You're right - State says so. They do have folks more up-to-date than me on this. Perhaps my one-on-one with NK refugees has skewed my opinion, but from what I've seen, I'll give the NK's an edge in the SOB department. BOTH governments are reprehensible, so it's a matter of who is the least worst. Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!!

My best friend just called me from Atlanta a little bit ago. He's a bit shaken up and now I am a bit too. His wife is an ICU nurse and accidentally got jabbed with a needle tonight AFTER it had been in a patient. Not sure on the gory details but she is in tears so they're bound to be bad. That would be a SHITTY way to contract AIDS or some other insideous disease. I guess it's always been in the back of my mind that something like that might happen - I have several friends in med school/who are nurses/who are cops. But now that my best friend's wife had this happen (she's one of my best friends as well), it's put me deep in thought - and not on any stupid system or politics - and disturbed me more than a little. A woman's tears have always been my soft point and when I know they are sincere and from someone I love, like with Julie, it depresses and aggravates and bothers me. I can't even give her a hug because she's three time-zones away. Keep her in your prayers if you would. They are my family and I'd appreciate it. Your quote fails to mention the forced starvation of non-military personnel in North Korea, the rape of women prisoners reported by Japanese newspapers, and etc. Those, among other things, are my reasons. I've been to South Korea several times and I've also been to China (Beijing, Tsingtao, and Hong Kong both pre and post '97) and met some North Koreans who had fled to China, so some of my reasoning comes from first hand accounts. Can't say as I've ever met any Uzbeks though. I could be wrong, but doubt it. I've seen tour companies running tours through Uzbekistan. If it were as bad as NK, that wouldn't happen.

The tech has been around but not in their hands. They had to acquire and develop it themselves - which they did while we were delivering them all of that nice heating oil at taxpayer expense. Enforced IAEA inspections? Appeasement? Perhaps, though doing so would leave a foul taste in my mouth until the end of time. I am against that 99.9%.

Again - show me the lie. Quote it right from the speech. Boortz does more than call names, though he certainly does that with fervor and venom. He brings to light some interesting points those on the left don't like to hear. Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!!

A nice comparison between the Contras and the Sandinistas might be helpful for those ignorant of Central American history in the 80's....for those who fit into that category please do some research and decide whom you would have supported...

Ahh yes. North Korea. All of those shipments of US tax-payer funded heating oil really shut down that weapons program didn't it? Is anyone here honestly naive enough to believe that the technology to reprocess spent fuel rods into weapons grade nuclear material really developed since Bush started taking a hard line with the NKs? Dear Lord I pray that's not the case, because if so our educational system is more dire straights than I could ever have imagined. We've seen this coming for a long time. The whole Korean Peninsula is a black eye for those who swore by Kennan's policy of containment - more so than Vietnam in many cases, less so than others. What a disaster. Pre-emptive nuclear strike, eh, Seb? Perhaps not a bad idea with tactical nukes AND if initiated by the ChiComs. The NK government is so wacko there is no telling what they will do. Any nation that subsidizes its weapons programs through sales of illicit drugs and missile technology is a serious threat to world stability no matter what side of the aisle you sit on. Those comparing Iraq to NK really need to learn there politics/history and something of warfare. Totally different paradigm here. I mean totally. Lefties will make fools of themselves doing the above, no doubt. Bush and his successor (hopefully himself or a Libertarian, better still) will have to actually deal with this situation. I think engagement is the only option, but every time we try to engage these people they make ridiculous demands and walk out - or almost every time. Economic engagement with a completely state run economy is impossible - they have nothing to trade! Any thoughts on how to engage these maniacs? Been expecting this. I must get off of my ass and take the test.....

Odd I missed that. You are right. Now I'm more irked at this - from an intel management point of view and political point of view. They should have known faster than this. Perturbing, but still not grounds for the 'L' word.

Trying to pry myself offline and get some work done....unsuccessfully.....

That's why I want an investigation visible to the public. That's not something that should ever happen. One would HOPE that with folks as smart as Powell and Rice and Rumsfeld that if briefed on that bit of information they would remember it. One would also hope that the entire cabinet had seen the SOTY before it was actually given. I AM glad the White House didn't try and deny the claim and came forward fairly quickly once it was brought to light.
