The sky turned blue so I headed to the Monterey DZ around 1 PM to get a jump in for the day. GREAT weekend in H-town. John Poindexter? Sensational? Surely you jest. I don't like a lot of the work he's done recently at all. Ann and Rush are both sensational. This is true. And quite entertaining. Unfortunately Ann's sensationalism - and to an even greater extent her venom (especially in her latest book) - sometimes draws attention away from her arguments, which are normally quite good. Her last book was so venemous in some areas that the venom completely drowned out the points she was trying to make. Her points were quite pertinent and well thought out in many cases, but my God a thousand king cobras couldn't produce so much venom in a year. Good book, though. Worth reading for historical content alone. WRT defining the left, you're possibly correct. Judging by the tenor and content of their current crop of Presidential hopefuls, I think my point stands pretty well for the national party. The strength of liberalism and the left lies in their local and state ranks, where they actually do a lot of good for a lot of people. Hope everyone had a good weekend.

Steel it's a nice thread you've generated. Ann's book is pretty well-done. I bought it a few weeks ago. I really thought it interesting how the decoded/decrypted Soviet transmissions proved many of McCarthy's assertions correct. However, I got the feel that her book focused more on attacking the left en masse than for presenting historical fact. Not that I have problem with that at all - I despise most of the left with a passion - but I do think she got a bit more venemous than necessary. It was a great read and quite interesting. No wonder the left hates her so. Her last book - Slander - was also a great read. I found two mistakes myself, but found the rest pretty much on point.
