  1. Not necessarily... Just playing devil's advocate, I think his point was to photoshop-up the images to make them look better than they actually do. I'm guessing he did that to his avatar. Right kbone? Action expresses priority. - Mahatma Ghandi
  2. OMG Me, too!! Here's another example! Action expresses priority. - Mahatma Ghandi
  3. Just FYI, do you know what that photo is about? It's certainly not a monkey humping a doll.
  4. To all of you complaining about the cover shots - get someone to shoot photos of you this weekend and post them here. Let's see what you've got. Seriously, this sport is too small and too tight knit for this kind of petty bitching and moaning. If you don't like what you're seeing - offer up something better. Not only will you be happier about what you're seeing but you'll get paid for it, too. Parachutist only prints what is submitted. Additionally, part of what's cool about this sport is the fact that 50-jumps wonders and 5000-jump wonders and superstars are all mixed in together. There is no special plane for the skygods. The dude passed out at the bonfire that I'm tripping over could have just won a gold at the World's. The person on the cover of our magazine could be just off student status. Don't you LOVE that?! Why would you deny anyone their shot on the cover? And why would you publicly ridicule not only the shooter but another jumper who's out there having a ball in our sport? Sure, some shots I prefer over others. Makes me appreciate the ones I do like. Finally, again, Parachutist doesn't employ photographers. They print what is submitted. Don't like it? Show us how it's done. Another rant altogether: What the hell does sex appeal have to do with cover shots of a female skydiver in Parachutist?? It's not Parachutits FFS!! 7. I have to admit, I'm a huge fan of Amy myself. It's hard not to develop a crush on her. She's just so genuine and fun(ny). And those eyes!
  8. Well, no comment on the size of his... anyway, the next time you're at Crosskeys we'll grab dinner. A glass of wine over sushi and he'll talk about anything - even mortgages! (To Craig - nice one! And Congrats on August!) Action expresses priority. - Mahatma Ghandi
  9. In addition to your question, isn't he OUR vice president? ALL of ours? So he only wants to speak to the Americans he's serving if we declare loyalty? Action expresses priority. - Mahatma Ghandi
  10. www.badfishfreefly.com (Sorry Chris...couldn't resist!) There's no mistaking the love.
  11. That's right...whip it out... Just remember, it's not The Fro Jam - it's The Stash Jam!! The underappreciated hair of the 70s!
  12. I too, am a small person who has had difficulties with floating. A tight(er) jumpsuit - also in nylon vs. cotton helps. I got a 'pit special' from Tonysuits that was great. It fit tight without being restrictive, and the nylon sliced through the air as opposed to cotton, which grabs. As Brit17 said, having to bend in half not only hurts but also hinders your performance. If you're already at the edge of your flying range - you have no flexibility. Weights may be necessary. Sure, they suck in the plane - so does a nylon jumpsuit on hot days but if you're looking for maximum freefall performance, you might have to suck it up!
  13. You give Wendy a huge hug and kiss for not bringing the Crosskeys tradition of a layer of Cheez Whiz under the Redi-Whip!!! Congrats. Action expresses priority. - Mahatma Ghandi

  18. Your gear's friendliness is vital. It's the easiest to check and fix. And the easiest to ignore. More freefly friendly is not good. Freefly friendly is good. For instance, our school teaches that velcro anything is unacceptable. Especially riser covers. Especially used riser covers. The biggest dangers you face freeflying at your stage is what you don't know. Not what you can't do. Arm yourself with good, solid information from reliable sources and you can FF your heart out! 1. Get your gear checked and/or fixed. (Nothing comes open til you say so) 2. Don't jump with anyone else. (Solos only) 3. Get coaching. (Ask lots of questions) 4. Have fun! 20. Here's a scenario, I can qualify for a 10-year ARM at a margin of 2%. Right now, that means my rate is 4%. Every 6 months that 2% is added to the '6-month LIBOR' index (?) and that is my rate for the following 6 months. Therefore, if LIBOR goes down to 1.75, my next 6 month rate is 3.75. If it goes up to 2.25, my rate for the next 6 months is 4.25. The cap is 10%. The LIBOR index is supposed to be the lowest and most stable. I will have 10 years of that. (Keep in mind, I'm planning to sell in 3-5 years, max) Also, there is no penalty for paying above the monthly interest rate - and that goes straight to principle. And since the mortgage re-amortizes every month, if I pay extra (toward principle) my loan - and interest - goes down. Essentially, I could be paying 50% interest and 50% principle right off the bat - when fixed rate mortgages don't make a dent in principle for years. Someone please tell me what I'm overlooking. Seriously. Is it only the 'unknown' of the LIBOR index (that's big, don't get me wrong)? Action expresses priority. - Mahatma Ghandi
