I have no idea if this is appropriate to post here, I assume discussion of the subject matter would cause any thread to get moved here, so... Anyone seen The Corporation ? All I can say is wow. Action expresses priority. - Mahatma Ghandi

It's also a really good human lesson. You can't just repress what or who you are. Eventually, it must be dealt with. Action expresses priority. - Mahatma Ghandi

Muenkel- he clearly responded to this question. "How self-absorbed does one have to be to fuck with the lives of two women, plus children, pretending to be straight and lying to them about who he is? Did he do it because for his public persona to survive he had to maintain the facade of being straight?" If the man was gay - and due to religious and military pressures to not be gay, he started hiding that fact at an early age. At what point in his life of trying to be what his religion and family tells him is right, does he come out? Kev wasn't saying religion and military make you gay. Jail the parents! Not sure about that one. 18 is an accepted yet relatively random number for legal responsiblity. But since it's illegal now to commit suicide - what does happen to the parents? Are they held accountable in any way? I guess they're not held too accountable if their child commits murder... Maybe they should be? Action expresses priority. - Mahatma Ghandi

Even Atkins was obese when he died of a heart attack. The man was an evil genius - create a diet where people think they can eat whatever they want, tell them it's complicated so they have to buy your book and food, and then suffer no social consequences because 'everyone knows' fad diets fail. What really enrages me is the "Atkins Friendly" signs on fast food joints. Action expresses priority. - Mahatma Ghandi

Any idea who was feeding him? If he couldn't roll over in bed without help, how did he get to the kitchen? I mean, wouldn't bedridden = diet ?? Action expresses priority. - Mahatma Ghandi

My issue really is how dairy and beef cows, pigs and 'broiler' chickens are factory farmed. I do the best I can to live accordingly. Like PhillyKev said, I like the taste of some stuff, but would feel worse about eating it. I love cheese and some milk products - and every now and then find myself lusting after a Wendy's Spicy Chicken sandwich. But I know just becasue I want something in the moment - doesn't mean it's right for me to have it. It would be a momentary indulgeance and then I'd feel like crap. I believe there are so many things creepy and horrifying about our food supply - especially the meat and dairy industry - in it's current corporate state, that I choose to avoid it. Purists might say "you're not helping the cause at all if you eat honey or buy film!" Just like meat advocate purists say "it's all about perfect nutrition - you need meat to have a perfect diet!" (And honestly, if you're not perfectly healthy and fit - you better not be usin' that argument!) But I'm not purist. I say the 15% (or whatever it is) who are veg have reduced demand by a nice percentage - and have at least helped to make others think about what they eat. I don't dislike meat eaters. I avoid people who are close-minded but I don't equate openmindedness with thinking just like I do - just willing to have thoughtful conversation.

Is it spur of the moment? Or is it a desire - however long it may last - that hopefully will pass? And by preventing suicide we are giving them the 'opportunity' to let it pass? I understand helping someone who is need of help. Help him off the ledge, help him get treatment or assistance in some way to better cope with whatever he's dealing with. You can do that whether it's legal or not. But if someone doesn't want to be a part of this world - or this life, why would we (society as a whole) require them to stay? edited: not arguing with you, phillykev - just exploring other questions I have. Serious and innocent question here. Why should anyone (sick or healthy) be legally required to stay alive? Winsor mentioned that suicide should remain illegal to help prevent those who would from killing themselves. But why do we need to prevent it? Is it because of the aftermath? The body disposal, the children possibly left parentless, the estate and money owed. etc.? Action expresses priority. - Mahatma Ghandi

Amen! I'd be willing to bet the photo editor gets shit from people if they choose photos from the same shooters too often - or if the same discipline is chosen too often - or if 'big names' are featured too often - or if 'unknowns' are featured too often. There are plenty of shooters personal sites with some amazing shots to look at. Tony's is a great example. Action expresses priority. - Mahatma Ghandi

Try not to complain too much to Parachutist either. Especially without knowing for sure that 'better' shots are being submitted. They are a very small staff of skydivers putting out a magazine every month. Rather than bitch - why not call Parachutist and thank them when they publish a photo you like? I'll vouch for him! He is in fact a little man stuck alone under flourescent lights somewhere stirring up a fight. I know this, because I'm stuck under flourescent lights somewhere being amused by it. Action expresses priority. - Mahatma Ghandi

Help me solve this Break off and track argument.

This is an unfortunate situation - 2 sides that believe they are in the right. My suggestion to you would be to take your dilemma to someone at your dz (an instructor, an s&ta, etc) and confide in them. Don't tattle or rat someone out - just simply put the situation out there and get advice from someone who knows you and possibly the others involved. Come at it from the perspective of wanting to know if you made an error. Just from your post, it's hard to tell what's really what. You and the other guy each have a perspective and you both believe you're right. The difference, I hope, is that you handled the interaction with a bit more class than someone who yells and accuses people of trying to kill him. Action expresses priority. - Mahatma Ghandi -
