Should greenies get so worked up? FallRate

Stossel is a national treasure! I loved it when he interviewed an owner of a pro baseball team (I think it was baseball) who had received a considerable amount of local taxpayer funds to subsidize his struggling new franchise. When Stossel asked the worthless-fat-fucking-rich-asshole-on-welfare about his personal salary of $3,000,000 the guy walked off the set. Priceless! FallRate

Ex-Arms Hunter Kay Says No WMD Stockpiles in Iraq
FallRate replied to PhillyKev's topic in The Bonfire
Quite a list. Strangely, not one quote from any Democrat who stated the exact same things. Clinton, Lieberman and Clark come to mind. (To Lieberman's credit, he hasn't backed away from his position that this was a just war.) The point concerning the "bluff" is that the Iraqi regime chose to play a game. The unwillingness to allow unrestricted access to the UN inspectors throughout the 90's left most everyone with the opinion that the Iraqi regime had either retained WMD's or was working to acquire them again. So it may in fact be the case that Iraq is completely free of WMD's, but if this is the case the Iraqi regime had many opportunities to demonstrate it. They did not. They bluffed, they lost. (It should be noted that after the Gulf War, Iraq completely denied the existence of a nuclear weapons program. It took one year of UN investigation to determine that Iraq did in fact have an active program in place. Investigation takes time. Conclusions at this point might be premature.) Defensible? Yes. Quote of the Year has to be... "If women are so much more evolved (than men), why are they so fascinated by shiny rocks?" FallRate -
This discussion sounds a bit like USPA has proposed a new BSR requiring jumpers to stow their brakes, lay out there rigs, etc. so that the job is made easier. I doubt there is such a BSR proposal, so it would seem that this can be easily answered by saying that if you don't want to make the job simpler for the packers, don't. If they won't pack for you because of this, get some kneepads and suck it up or find another packer. FallRate

And that would be? FallRate -
I remember seeing a piece on a "Cult Hotline". They listed Scientologists as a cult and made recommendations as to how individuals could steer their friends and family members away from this group. So, the Church of Scientology had about 50 or so of their members apply for jobs at the hotline. Of course, after identifying themselves as Scientologists, all were turned down for employment. So each and every one of the Scientologists, who had been denied employment, sued the hotline on the grounds of religion based discrimination. The woman who ran the hotline was put out of business. But the hotline didn't go away. The same hotline, operating under the same name (don't know what it is), is still around and works to educate and warn people about cults. But the organization that now runs this hotline is the Church of Scientology! Of course, Scientology no longer appears on this hotline's list of threats. And if the caller is really interested the hotline staff can educate callers as to how the Church of Scientology can help them to achieve perfect happiness. Yeah, they scare me. Edited to add: But I'm still much more terrified by the Roman Catholic Cult. FallRate

How much would a mock-up for the Smithsonian cost? Who'd know the difference? FallRate

Nope, no prices listed on the site. I tried that yesterday. FallRate

So the source of those "facts" (yeah, I used quotation marks) is the People for the American Way website. No real need to make the link, they didn't provide any direct information to support those allegations. Also, you have to wonder about the objectivity of an organization which has a "Right Wing Watch" on its website. FallRate

That was quick. Here's another one: Anyone know the cost of a new Armex cleaning system? I'll wait... FallRate

My reply was a little less condescending. I guess we'll have to keep in mind that you are accustomed to talking down to people, Professor. FallRate

I believe this will be the first time that we get microscopic analysis (pictures) of the rocks. Much better for scientific investigation. FallRate

I imagine it sounds better in French. Maynard could probably pull those English lyrics off, but not too many other artists. FallRate

Now this is a pleasant thread!
