  2. I've never heard it called the hill before, but anyway. I've seen a fair few RW videos. Turning the first point(s) before the formation levelled out didn't seem too extrordinary, howver sinsce I've qualified and started doing RW myslef - it brings a whole new level of respect for some of the top RW teams ---------- Ben G Still Sinking :-(
  3. Welcome to SKYDIVING - I've you liked your first jumps - you'l love the rest!! ---------- Ben G Still Sinking :-(
  4. Not directly related - but a good piece of advice nont the less - If your planning to do FF - ask your rigger about the sutability of your gear. and then also ask an FF coach. ---------- Ben G Still Sinking :-(
  5. Thanks Craig & Hooknswwop ---------- Ben G Still Sinking :-(
  6. Had a search and I can't find any info. I'm in thr procees of buying a second hand rig - what documents shoudl i expect to get / need from the seller. I'm geussing I need some sort of documentaion showing that my reserve is in date - what else do I need? ---------- Ben G Still Sinking :-(
  7. I'm not an instructor in any way shape or form. I would have though hooking up all SL students would be safer than on the climb up. For several reasons: a)-An emergancy requiring immediate exit would be safer and quciker b)-Forgetting to hook up a student or misrouting SL's is harder. c)-If the student falls out - then they will have an open canopy ---------- Ben G Still Sinking :-(
  8. I never knew much about IAD until now. What I want to know is how does the dummy Pull stage work??? Does the Student do a dummy pull then the instructor oull the PC ---------- Ben G Still Sinking :-(
  9. Welcome to the Greatest sport. ---------- Ben G Still Sinking :-(
  10. Couldn't agree more - doing solos' is fun but jumping with some one else is even better. Did my first 2 way and multi-point 2 way this last weekend and I loved it. ---------- Ben G Still Sinking :-(
  11. I'll second that. ---------- Ben G Still Sinking :-(
  12. What?????????? ---------- Ben G Still Sinking :-(
  13. Using your risers in basic turns means pulling down on them. Pull you left to turn left and your right to turn right . Riser control is a long subject but the best adivce is just play around - ABOVE YOUR SAFETY MARGIN When you learn to control a canopy using riser you soon realize you've got six points of control rather than just two. I wasn't taught about riser control on either of my 1 jump courses. Learn how to use your risers - for example if when you open your directly facing another canopy. You've got a choice either: a) Unstow a toogle and initiate a turn b)Go directly to you rear riser and make a turn N.B. Turn the the right as a avoidance maneuver as is the standard in aerial procedures ---------- Ben G Still Sinking :-(
  14. The perfect solution to stop a hard opening - why did I never think of that ---------- Ben G Still Sinking :-(
  15. Brilliant adive from DirtMonkey Ask questions - learn to pack - get to know people etc... Oh and stick at it - Skydiving Rocks!!! ---------- Ben G Still Sinking :-(
  16. Always nice to see a few more Brits - we'll take over the world one day!!! Like you I got stuck on DP's - but eventually I got off them and Freefell - is that the past tense of freefall - and now I'm a cat 8 skydiving - woo Hoo. Oh and good luck with the AFF. ---------- Ben G Still Sinking :-(
  17. Well I started you and only averaged about 8 jumps this year. This year I got nearly 30 jumps in just under 2 months - hence I actually managed to qualify this year. ---------- Ben G Still Sinking :-(
  18. Neither can I - in fact I doubt many people can
  19. We only get a C for 200 Jumps - How tough is life
  20. True Very True ---------- Ben G Still Sinking :-(
  21. D??? I thought that was 1000 Jumps - or is that just BPA regs?? ---------- Ben G Still Sinking :-(
  22. I dug out the old medical form I signed when I was 16 - 70kg 5'9'' - ahh those were the days
  23. I started at 16 - but due to funds, time & inability to do Dp's never actually got onto Freefall till I was 19. It's a tough balance being that young between, fundsVeducationVfunds ---------- Ben G Still Sinking :-(
  24. Cessna's Rock - They may be small and slow but their nice a/c!!!! If your on AFF however (as most people have already pointed out) most DZs only send cessna's to 10 grand. In each AFF you want as much working time as possible if you are not 100% confident. ---------- Ben G Still Sinking :-(
  25. I believe that is FAR 106.32(a) I would think that a roll up door - rolls up inside the plane and takes up valuable space3 inside a C-182 which is already pretty small anyway! ---------- Ben G Still Sinking :-(
