how much does a rig weigh?
BenGriffiths replied to 190jumper's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
My rig with very similar spec is a tad over 11 kg (that's 25 punds in old money). Although I have my suspicions that my rig is actually a lot heavier ;-) ---------- Ben G Still Sinking :-( -
**De-Lurk** From a non-instructors Point of View - I wouldn't want a Student to jump with an Audible as they may develop a reliance on the Audible rather than their visual alti/own perceptions. **Re-Lurk** ---------- Ben G Still Sinking :-(

Caffeine kills skydiving performance?
BenGriffiths replied to WrongWay's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I'm not medic but I believe like most bodily drugs too much caffine causes problems but a sensible amount can be beneficiary. Small levels of caffeine can increase your general awareness. Personally I might have a few cups of Coffee but rarely do I drink anything stronger (like Red Bull) ---------- Ben G Still Sinking :-( -
I belive Cark (in the UK) is getting one soon. The main thing I don't like about the 750 is the apparently low tailwing. Not only coulkd a dodgy exit lead to problems but if the pilot didn't have it in the correct orientation for exit, very possible on a low altitude emergancy exit, it seems like colossions are a distinct posibbility. ---------- Ben G Still Sinking :-(

Diagram of Skydiving Body Positions
BenGriffiths replied to BenGriffiths's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
For my dissertation I needs some side on diagrams showing all the basic body positions (i.e. belly to earth, Sit/Stand & Head Down (and if possible a Delta Track)). I need them for a short section detailing how body positions affects Fall/Rate and horizontal movement. Can anyone point me to or offer me some suitable diagrams/pics please? Many Thanks ---------- Ben G Still Sinking :-( -
One of my university projects involves the measurement of 3-D movement of a skydiver. I am assuming the acceleration in the Z axis (vertical) will never exceed }9.81 (i.e. g). However as I'm not studying Aerospace/Physics I'm having a little more difficulty calculating the maximum acceleration in the x and y axis (horizontal). Anyone got and ideas / formulae? ---------- Ben G Still Sinking :-(

As part of my Uni project I need to know what sort of air pressure ranges I'll being experiencing. I know the pressure at ground/sea level vary either side of 1000 millibars (i.e. 29.53 inches). But how much will height and weather affect these values. ---------- Ben G Still Sinking :-(

Bikini Boogie - Jersey, Channel Island
BenGriffiths replied to skydivejersey's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Well I certianly had fun, even If I was absolutely knackered by the end of the week. ALmost doubled my FF time (now just under 40 mins). Liked the beach landings, helicpoter jumps and also enjoyed the view. ---------- Ben G Still Sinking :-( -

You sometimes hold onto the plane so that when you go you are presenting the best possible body position to the air flow. As everyone else has said - Your Instructors will teach you everything you need to know. And another thing there's no such thing as a dumb question in Skydiving. You may as well ask on the ground than realize you don't know the answer with the ground hurling towards you at 120mph!!! ---------- Ben G Still Sinking :-(

I were glasees for 95% of my life owever I recently taken to wearing contact lenses in FreeFall. And I've no problems. I've only ever once lost a contact in FreeFall, and that was during my Backloops in RAPS. First time I did a jump from te top with glasses I didn't put my over-glasses/googles on properly and they spent the entire dive floating around in front of me. Although sionce then I've had no problems. ---------- Ben G Still Sinking :-(

Any more skydiving dreams?
BenGriffiths replied to JoHawley's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
My Usual Dream - is I end up under a reserve for some reason or another. Anyway I'm really struggling to stay in my harness. At about 10 feet I realise I've not clipped up the legstraps. so when I do land I quickly clip up my lepstarps so my CCI doesn't notice. ---------- Ben G Still Sinking :-( -
