As far as firing him.....well that is more propaganda he told them to F--k themselves and quit, regardless of what the official stance is. Powell was used by the Bush administration to help win his first election. I know many military men and women that voted for bush the 1st time because of Powell. He was a well respected man for what he has done for the country as a military leader. I was one of those people. They used and abused one of the greatest military men in the history of our country. His biggest fault was that he was loyal and did his "duty" to the President. BTW, no, the war in Iraq was(is) not right. In fact I think it is the worst thing our country has ever done. For those that think we needed to go to war to kill Sadam, well that is nuts. We could have killed him anytime we wanted to. Dont think that we couldnt have. We may have lost track of him for a little bit before finding him in his (literal) little hole. But our military had eyes and sites on him for years. If Bush truly wanted to get rid of a bad man, they could have done it without war. Hell, we had pictures of the guy sleeping in his bed during the first gulf war and the pics werent taken by his people. Dom

I will agree with that. The "war" was quick and easy. That being said..........we are not at war right now. The war ended a long time ago. We are making politicians rich is what we are doing now. We are showing the world that America has lost itself. We have shown the world that the American people no longer run this country. I remember when I was in the Army, you could go to a foreign country and people respected Americans, now days, the hate us and dont want us there. Dom

You wait, as soon as we (if we ever) leave Iraq, someone much worse then him will take power away from the supposed Govt. that we are helping set up over there. They are just biding their time. When we leave, the fundamentalist will take that country over and we will have a brand new enemy even more dangerous then Bin Laden. All we have done over there is loose American lives, spend Trillions of dollars and stir up a hornets nest. Our government has made fools of us all and our standing in the world is shite because of this man, who never should have won his first election in the first place and created a war to scare us into voting for him a 2nd time. Colin Powell was lied too. Why do you think he stepped down? In my opinion he is a stand up guy. He was the Joint Chief of Staff while I served during the Gulf War. He had learned many lessons from Vietnam as well. Mainly, that we can not occupy a country like that again and that we had a defined mission during the gulf war. Once the mission was accomplished, we got out. End of story I think that he was given false information. Once he realized that he was lied to, and as a result lied to the rest of us, he resigned. I believe that he has admitted that (not in those exact words of course). What we have now is a situation that we can not win. Dom

Yup. As much of an idiot as Bush is, he knew what he was doing. To think that by the US going in, killing Sadam and then hanging out for a few months was going to change anything....well that was just stupid. He should have taken the hint from senior. It did not get past me. The article also mentioned that one of the children tired to kill herself over this. There have been cases in the past (as another poster already said) where children will lie about this sort of thing just by having the suggestion planted in their heads in some way. In fact I have seen a few specials on incidents where MANY children have lied about such things. I just dont think that they would try to kill themselves over it if it wasnt true. I just hope that the poor children can recover from this to live half way decent lives after all this. Anyone that would help him leave should be ashamed. If he is innocent, they should have encouraged him to stay and clear his name. Dom

He admitted it to his ex wife and attorney, then fled the country a few days before they issued the arrest warrant. I am all for a fair trial, but he ADMITTED IT. He should burn. IF anyone in Deland helped him flee then they should be charged with crimes as well. Friends is one thing, but helping a guy run away from this is AWFUL. I shudder to think that people helped him. Especially since I have a feeling that those children are probably skydivers kids and the people that MAY have helped him are probably jumpers as well. Dom

If they dont want to open the lines of communication, that is there choice and I wont blame them. Not one bit. But I wasnt being the best person I could have been, not by a long shot.
