Nah, he's wrong on that one. I was a bitch when I was fat too.

Six years? But you only came out on facebook a few months ago. I call bullshit.

Nah. It's that most women who skydive have at least a little bit of self esteem. Unlike those female hockey players. I have a stick. You know that I have a stick. And still you mess with me? Silly Caucasian American girl likes to play with Samurai swords hockey sticks... Hmmm... just trying to remember which one of them died in that movie....

If possible, put a few jumps on a Spectre with Dacron lines before you make your canopy purchase. Spectres are known for soft openings (but like any other canopy, they have and do occasionally slam people). Dacron lines stretch on opening, which reduces the forces exerted on your body. The combination creates the softest, most comfortable openings I've ever had (I've jumped Furys, PD190's, PD170's, Ravens, Mavericks, Sabres, Safires and Spectres).

Yeah see there's another problem. Most female skydivers don't want to have to bother with teaching a guy anything. If you don't already know how to make us scream....

That's really awesome of you, and I'm sure your local dealer appreciates you being willing to do that for him. But I'm wondering why you even want to pay at all. I mean, you have 5000 jumps, you must be a really good skydiver. With a little effort, you could get a new canopy for 50% off or maybe even free. Worked for me for both a main and a container, and I'm far from a really good skydiver.

Please help with Jumpsuit design research!
skybytch replied to MarieL's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Ah, but someone with fashion DESIGN experience is EXACTLY who we want turning out jumpsuits. Knowledge about fabrics, garment construction and patternmaking are extremely important, especially when building a custom, one off item. There is a market for off the shelf - I've watched "stock suits" fly off shelves of gear stores. Lots of novices are just fine with a "stock size" RW or freefly suit for their first suit, and they end up saving money on it too. -

No more or less than for males. Fall rate is a function of body weight, size and drag, not whether we have a penis or boobies. Generally, a small person needs little to no drag, a larger person will want more (baggier fit with perhaps some extra fabric in certain places) - it's called "dressing for success." -
This year I'm thankful for the ability to walk without adaptive devices.

UC Davis and Sacramento State are both within 2 hours drive of Lake Tahoe.

There is a source for replacement parts. Call Action Air Parachutes/Bomber Manufacturing in Davis, Ca. They can get you whatever Reflex parts you might need.

Eh, safety. Not nearly as important as style. Overstuffing the main container with a 170 is a fabulous idea. I know those plastic stiffeners are inexpensive, but they sure do make a rig look like shit when they break. And main flaps are cheap and easy to fix when the grommets start to pull out. Not to mention how attractive overstuffed rigs are - if you like that whole pregnant look. Assuming, of course, that you can get 170 square feet of slippery snot into a space designed for 150 square feet of slippery snot in the first place.

Hockey players fall to their faces, slide across the ice, get up and skate on, all without losing momentum. Give it a try, you'll change your mind real quick about which requires better physical conditioning.

Eh, swimmers are okay, but they can't really compare with an NHL stud... err player in his under armour. Ms Conduct explains it nicely.

Competitive swooping perhaps, but for the average swooper at the average dz on an average day? Most of them are wearing camera wings because the only way they can get 10 swoops a day in for free is to film tandumbs... -

USPA's "Championship" Demo Team?
skybytch replied to airtwardo's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Canopy control courses aren't sexy, they don't get you on TV, they don't make much in the way of money and they don't bring in fresh tandem meat. Therefore they are not important enough to spend USPA money on. Indeed... unfortunately transparency from the USPA BOD has never seemed to be a common practice. -

Jan Meyer posted the meeting minutes on my facebook rant. The money is NOT coming from the Trust Fund. Which doesn't make it any more palatable, but since I'm not a current, dues paying USPA member my opinion doesn't matter. Your opinion does, though. Tell the BOD that this is not how you want your dues to be spent and why. And go to the next meeting and request a loan from USPA to finance your skydiving related business idea. -
USPA's "Championship" Demo Team?
skybytch replied to airtwardo's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I think I'll ask USPA to give me some money from the Airport Access Defense fund to help me take our canopy course nationwide. Canopy collisions kill skydivers and dead skydivers cause airport managers to kick dz's off airports, so it makes total sense for money donated by others for one specific purpose to be used in this way. And if I have the official seal of USPA support, I can use that in my advertising so my course appears "better" than everyone else's. Thus putting at least some of them out of business, and doing it while using THEIR money. It's capitalism at it's finest! -

Aw, c'mon guys. It's only a little bit of money and these are legends in the sport! Just think of how many couch potatoes will come out to do their one time tandem parachute amusement ride because of it! It's GREAT marketing for the sport!!! I'd like my last couple donations back... -
