So... send them something better to print.
-
I think this kinda sums it all up. Do you agree?
-
Thanks for the tip! My browser is much happier now.

Where to get various colored collapsible PC's?
skybytch replied to dfairleigh11's topic in Gear and Rigging
Jim Cazer would probably build you one. -
Wouldn't the DPRE need to have the lap rating to be able to test you for it?
-
There is something wrong with it. Just as there is something wrong with the things others mentioned. We all like to think that skydiving is a big family but when it comes to money, it's not. Not anymore, anyway. Good on ya for caring and trying, though.

You can go as small as a 150 in a container built for a 190. By the time your skills are to the point that you can safely fly/land a 135 you'll be ready for a new container and probably a new and smaller reserve as well. Have your container built for what you intend to put in it now. Unless of course you think you'll enjoy struggling to pack 190 sq ft of slippery snot into a bag built to fit 170 sq ft of slippery snot...

After doing a "writers workshop" or three in comp classes, I can't imagine how much it must suck to have to grade papers. If your teachers are anything like mine, as long as you can use the spelling and grammar check on your word processing program and write decent paragraphs, you're golden.

What kind of lines were on it?

...or the people saying that a rig with a Stiletto 135 or similar is a great starter rig? Or those selling 1980's vintage reserves for $600? Caveat emptor.

12-14 pages were assigned? That's sadistic. I'm on my fourth history class and haven't had to do more than 4 pages on any paper. But of course I can't stop at just four pages... mine end up being 6-10...
-
Did I mention that this is an honors class? There ain't no curve. Even if there were, the kid who got 102% on the last test would've fucked it all up anyway.
-
One minus fucking alpha. But I only know that cuz that's what we covered in class today. I am 97% sure that I'm not gonna kill anybody tonight.
-
Unfortunately that doesn't tell me how to determine the probability that I'm going to kill at least 1 person if the average person kills two people assuming a standard deviation of .5 and a sample population of 50 people.

Can't help you with your question but I gotta say... If it's the ones I'm thinking of in the town you live in, you chose the best vet office in town. They've been awesome with my kid and his dog - both in treatments and in not charging him as much as they could (the husband even came out to help Dave with one of his project sheep when he was in high school and didn't charge us a thing).

Statistics makes me feel stupid. I don't like feeling stupid. How can I get one problem right and then the very next one wrong when it's the same basic problem as the one I got right? And I'm doing the ones I get wrong more than once! It's a good thing I already blew my 4.0 GPA cuz there's no way in hell I'm going to get an A in this class.... at this poin I think I'll be lucky to come out of it with a C. I will be freaking ecstatic when this semester is over and I never ever EVER have to take another fucking math class.

Jumpsuit Modifications, codura source, and adding booties?
skybytch replied to DougH's topic in Gear and Rigging
500 denier would probably be more comfortable as it isn't quite as stiff as the 1000. Black goes with everything, but you could try contacting a container or jumpsuit manufacturer to buy a small amount of a different color. Shirley Pelland (Pineapple Express) out of Perris builds a nice removable bootie. Unfortunately I don't have contact info for her. From the year I spent cutting jumpsuits, I can say that booties are pretty complicated to cut and build - not something I'd attempt if you aren't already skilled at patternmaking/cutting/sewing, or at the least very, very patient and willing to engineer and build over and over until you get them right. -
And baling wire. How could you forget about baling wire?
-
Yes. I did. A couple of pages ago. And the fact that you didn't see it really hurts my feelings. Asshole.
-
Because you wanted to have some money left over for software?

Before we leave we'll mail resupply packages to ourselves at places that are near the trail. Figure we won't have to carry more than a week's worth of food at any time. It's gonna be epic.
-
A change of clothes? WTF? Geez, it was only a week. At 15-20 miles a day for a month, we're gonna need food that cooks fast, tastes great, has a lot of nutritional value and doesn't add a lot of weight to our packs. And we're trying to do this without spending ridiculous amounts of money too. So dehydrating our own makes sense. Besides, I hate raisins and peanuts.

I'm already using Firefox (IE sux!). Is AdblockPlus a freebie?

My kid does high performance work on diesel Ford pickups (F250/350's) - everything from lifting them to rebuilding the engines. His boss is pretty well connected in that world and has had magazine guys out at the shop before. So anyway, this month my kid is in a feature story in Diesel Power magazine! Well, okay, his hands, shorts, legs, shoes and nose are in the magazine. They didn't bother to print his name, despite the fact that he did all the work since his boss has already forgotten how it's done.

It's work, but you can eat really well (tasty and healthy) out of a backpack if you have a food dehydrator and some imagination. Which is why I'm "letting" flyangel2 take care of the food for our month long trek in Oregon next summer.
