  1. I did the same thing... changed the channel..... Im cool with promoting the sport at any level but not the condescendence they approached this jump, the IAD was horrendous, safety was grossly neglected. I have more than a few jumps from different types of helicopters from R22 to Bell's 407's and in two different occasions another skydivers had open containers while in the heli, to see these guys these non-sense really got me. If this guy dies due to a parachute never opening because the bridle wrapped around his leg will really be something to read about ! this guy was lucky! period http://web.mac.com/ac057a/iWeb/AC057A/H0M3.html
  2. So I'm watching this show called running wild with Gryll featuring Zac Efron the guy throw Zac out an helicopter to what they wanna make believe is his first jump. idiots board the heli without legs straps done (not precisely a safe wY to do it) heli pilot should had warned and debrief them but hey, I know some heli pilots that are real idiots! then the guy jumps statict line and line seems to wrapped around the guys legs parachute do not deploy inmmediayely giving him a few seconds of free fall, watch the show and comment, clear violation of every skydive rule I know.... beside the fact that I don't believe is this guys first jump ! ( not problem there) http://web.mac.com/ac057a/iWeb/AC057A/H0M3.html
  3. A copule scubadiving videos from recent dives. https://vimeo.com/96484083 https://vimeo.com/90718561 http://web.mac.com/ac057a/iWeb/AC057A/H0M3.html
  4. as DSE stated....I jump in florida and had a sigma 15 mm, yes you will have that little problem be extra careful if you change lenses between jumps or on the ground as moisture can get inside your camera. As a side note, i just got an 8mm rokinon for my Nikon is manual, is half the price of the Sigma and you will never use the automatic focus on free fall, the lens is fantastic! maybe that will save you a few bucks depending on what you are planning on using it, but frankly I use the rokinon for everything http://web.mac.com/ac057a/iWeb/AC057A/H0M3.html
  5. I know! Just wanted to ease my way back after a year of not jumping http://web.mac.com/ac057a/iWeb/AC057A/H0M3.html
  6. I did a quick search a many ppl likes the opening of the neos but how does it compare to the Velo? My vela had pretty sweet opening too and never had a spinner or slammer, Im coming out a year off I used to fly a velo 96, I think the neos is somewhere in between a crossfire and a Velo? Any thoughts? http://web.mac.com/ac057a/iWeb/AC057A/H0M3.html
  7. DSE. Care to elaborate why do you think is a tad worse than other cheap cameras? does that include the go pro? I thought was a tad better (nothing super extraordinary) specially the elite model http://web.mac.com/ac057a/iWeb/AC057A/H0M3.html
  8. Agreed... But this one seems to go a bit farther the the Go pro with the underwater color correction feature. I am a bit curious about it, I realize any camera will get a color distortion once pass 20 ft without the proper light but I think is something action cameras can improve upon http://web.mac.com/ac057a/iWeb/AC057A/H0M3.html
  9. Try to go with Paleo meals and Crossfit a lot. quit the globo gyms! best advice I was given ! I cheat once a week usually Sundays the quantity depends on what you want buildup or lose weight http://web.mac.com/ac057a/iWeb/AC057A/H0M3.html
  10. I switch the battery with another working gopro, no luck. http://web.mac.com/ac057a/iWeb/AC057A/H0M3.html
  11. A friend "motorcycle rider" bought a gopro 2 over a year ago, camera worked once and since she did not know how to use it " harley rider or course!" the camera was stored in a drawer, I try charging the battery and swap the battery with mine and the camera is death, red light came on once when I connected the camera on my laptop then it turn off, now the camera is dead again, whats the warranty policy for this type issues? is there an easy fix like press power buttom for 30 sec or somethng? http://web.mac.com/ac057a/iWeb/AC057A/H0M3.html
  12. Thanks it does help. I also lookd into those rage kits and is not worth the price better to buy the dive housing and I also pick up a filter for $14. I think I am set for this weekends trip to scuba in Bahamas. I always hated that blurred video that the old housing give. http://web.mac.com/ac057a/iWeb/AC057A/H0M3.html
  13. Thanks for the explanation and the table http://web.mac.com/ac057a/iWeb/AC057A/H0M3.html
  14. Anyone know if is worth to get the dive housing? the go pro website claims the flat surface of the lens will give more flatten image but it doesn't say if the dive housing has a filter that will improve the underwater pictures (without external lights used) if you had tried to shoot video of pics with th go pro pass 20 ft depending on water conditions the video logically comes out greenish, does this housing fix this ??? I realize this is a skydive photography, save the sarcasm if you have nothing to contribute, most of us do all kinds of activities and this forum does happen to have very knowledgeable ppl in it http://web.mac.com/ac057a/iWeb/AC057A/H0M3.html
  15. This post is specifically related to the sigma lens used on Canon cameras with cropped format. The question: is there a noticeable difference between a picture taken at the same distance of the subject with the different lenses? 15mm, 8mm and 4mm looking at the specification of each lens, seems that the picture will come out some what the same, given that a cropped format camera is used and the focal values of each camera are some what similar. I had the 15mm sigma mounted on a Canon Rebel Ti and loved it for all purpose skydiving shots does anyone have tried taken pictures with 8mm and 4mm alike what are the differences? They have the same angle of view and similar focusing distances and apertures I assume the pictures will be not much difference from each other. 15mm specifications Focal Length: 15 mm Aperture: Maximum: f/2.8 Minimum: f/22 Format Compatibility: 35mm Film / Full-Frame Digital Sensor Canon (APS-C) Angle of View: 180° Minimum Focus Distance: 5.9" (14.99 cm) Magnification: 0.26x 8mm specifications Focal Length: 8 mm Aperture: Maximum: f/3.5 Minimum: f/22 Format Compatibility: 35mm Film / Full-Frame Digital Sensor Canon (APS-C) Angle of View: 180° Minimum Focus Distance: 5.3" (13.46 cm) Magnification: 0.21x 4mm specifications Focal Length: 4 mm Aperture: Maximum: f/22 Format Compatibility: 35mm Film / Full-Frame Digital Sensor Canon (APS-C) Angle of View: 180° Minimum Focus Distance: 5.3" (13.46 cm) Magnification: 0.21x http://web.mac.com/ac057a/iWeb/AC057A/H0M3.html
  16. I had been in skydive St Louis a few years back small airport and I remember they had an Otter. http://www.skydivingstlouismo.com/?g00aw give them a call. Again that was a few years back http://web.mac.com/ac057a/iWeb/AC057A/H0M3.html
  17. Non-skydiving related http://www.cnn.com/2013/07/11/justice/florida-rape-case/index.html?hpt=hp_t5
  18. Looking into these containers, want to replace my micron and I remember, a few years back I was impressed by the way velocity rigs were built and I can swear they had skyhook available Im looking in their website and they don't advertise it. also I wold like to hear about experiences anyone want to share. http://web.mac.com/ac057a/iWeb/AC057A/H0M3.html
  19. How is the Harlem shake for innovation??? :) we could not live without it future generations will thank us forever! sarcam implied http://web.mac.com/ac057a/iWeb/AC057A/H0M3.html
  20. He tried to buy my equipment same MO! http://web.mac.com/ac057a/iWeb/AC057A/H0M3.html
  21. Why would they required to do an eagle to get a license? is this sometype of freefly license system? like Olav's dolphin lincense? other than a front loop during first jump course I cant think of any benefit beside F.F competition for a D license holder. This is not making much sense to me http://web.mac.com/ac057a/iWeb/AC057A/H0M3.html
  22. I love Icarus canopies had a few myself for a while, but this is why I switch to PD anothe long while ago, now just try to get any of their canopies re-lined! I waited 6 months at one point a few years back. They got to get their shit together because they have an awesome product in my opinion http://web.mac.com/ac057a/iWeb/AC057A/H0M3.html
  23. Best advice so far kid ! he seems to not only have a similar situation than you and your dads but also the experience, also consider there is a huge amount of guilt that your father will have to endure if something were to happen to you. Trust me it takes a man with balls to get his/her kids to jump at such young age. Im not sure I could do it. http://web.mac.com/ac057a/iWeb/AC057A/H0M3.html
  24. Everything you just stated is true but unless you work and live in a big metropolis public transportation is scarce or un existant and unreliable. Suburbs are designed to use cars for everything (not a walking distance). I think thats what makes it worse than other places http://web.mac.com/ac057a/iWeb/AC057A/H0M3.html
  25. I do know a few that quit swooping mostly because they got married and had kids, they are still active skydivers, flying "big" canopies now. Some other due to injury while landings. I think is more frecuent than we might think http://web.mac.com/ac057a/iWeb/AC057A/H0M3.html
