  1. I guess you meant DV IN Blue ones, Carlos Martins Portugal www.cj.smugmug.com
  2. Thks. Yes, fiberglass. Made in the kitchen over two or three nights Finishing sucks, but from three feet away it looks good. Carlos Martins Portugal www.cj.smugmug.com
  3. Here's my setup: http://cj.smugmug.com/gallery/2549918 It's a Rawa Freefly Image, with the side box for a Sony PC106, Cameye, Newton Sight with Schumaker, Cookie Flatlock for a Canon 20D. I've modified the top platform because I don't like the stils camera hanging there to the side. I added a small laser pointer to help with sight adjustment. And I've created a cut-away that seems to work. I've tried it on the floor witha lot of pressure and it releases. Hope I never have to use it :) Carlos Martins Portugal www.cj.smugmug.com
  4. yep, after completely modifying my Rawa I understand your position about epoxy-goo-stuff I have some pics of my setup here http://cj.smugmug.com/gallery/2549918 Carlos Martins Portugal www.cj.smugmug.com
  5. Hi, I have the Flatlock on a Rawa. The Flatlock is bigger than Rawa's top platform, so the 4 holes will be almost on the edge of said platform. It's no big deal, I enlarged the platform a bit with an epoxi-goo-stuff. I'll post some pic's later. The Flatlock is awesome. Building quality and finish, lightweight, very low profile and very clever design. Oh, and service was amazing - got it from Australia in three days. I used the thumbscrew for some time as I wanted no added weight and heigh (at my experience level, SLR and lens is bad enough), but the liners of my helmets start to fall apart. So I bought a few quick mounts but wasn't happy with any - either heavy, tall or snag-prone. I even shelled out for the german X-shut but found out later that it requires some interface (and there goes the low profile advantage). ( I haven't tried the stroboframe as they are not easy to get at my corner of Europe.) I flew the Flatlock yesterday for the first time, so I can't coment on the durability/reliability. Quality and functionality are great! Carlos Martins Portugal www.cj.smugmug.com
  6. Canon's 50mm 1.8 costs around 100 Euro. It'll work as an 80 mm ona 1.6 crop factored digital. I have one and like it. Been wanting to jump it for a while but have never tried it.. Carlos Martins Portugal www.cj.smugmug.com
  7. Looking at mine, I think it's only riveted. You'll have to drill through the rivets and that'll be it. Carlos Martins Portugal www.cj.smugmug.com
  8. Wicked pic!!! Carlos Martins Portugal www.cj.smugmug.com
  9. I saw one in the flesh this weekend. Impressive details and finishing!!! It had no cutaway though (I think it's an option). Carlos Martins Portugal www.cj.smugmug.com
  10. That's got to be vertical speed only. Viso can't tell how fast you're moving, just how fast you're falling. Carlos Martins Portugal www.cj.smugmug.com
  11. www.smugmug.com Unlimited storage and big up/downloading bandwidth. It's not free though. Carlos Martins Portugal www.cj.smugmug.com
  12. Mine's fiberglass. I've cut a bit of the camera case (to gain some space for Cameye's LANC connector) and I've drilled the helmet itself at several places to acommodate wires. It's a straightforward job with a Dremel or even manual tools like saw and file. Carlos Martins Portugal www.cj.smugmug.com
  13. Not at all! I'm into geeking myself I am just sorry that I was rushing all over the place and couldn't chat more about the internals of the beautifull beast! Thanks for your answer. Carlos Martins Portugal www.cj.smugmug.com
  14. And we are high up in the tunnel? The motor stops and we just fall off? Or is the inertia in the fan enough to slowly decelerate the air flow and bring us down gently? Do tunnels have energy backup solutions like huge MW gensets?? I was this last weekend at Bedford where Paul was very nice answering some of our questions but I was busy being briefed/debriefed by my excelent coach Steven www.blincoe.org and getting amazed at Babylon activity, so I forgot to ask this one... 15. Thanks for the explanations. I do use a digi altimeter and I'm aware of my canopy's diving characteristics. But yes, I was asking for a chart, or at least for some comparative scale. Everybody knows that a Katana dives more and will take longer to recover level flight than a Sabre (for the same manouver and wingload). But there's not much info for other models like, say, Pilots, Safires and Sabre2's besides the one you get by asking around. I'm trying to decide on a next canopy and recovery arc is definitely something that interests me. Sorry for hijacking the thread. Carlos Martins Portugal www.cj.smugmug.com
  16. From PD Sabre 2 Flight Characteristics "the Sabre2 loses slightly more altitude in a turn than the original Sabre and the Spectre. By comparison, the PD Stiletto pulls out of a dive relatively quickly." From PD Stilletto Fligh Characeristics "the Stiletto tends to stay in a steep dive for a long time after several high speed turns. You can achieve a higher airspeed and rate of descent on the Stiletto than on a Sabre" For me it's a bit confusing
  17. Rightly so!! Carlos Martins Portugal www.cj.smugmug.com
  18. Hi neighbour! No landing, but these ones http://www.skysurfveras.pt/images/2003/Fotos-2003/071-2003.jpg http://www.skysurfveras.pt/images/2003/Fotos-2003/070-2003.jpg are nice
  19. Really??? They don't seel it seperately? I have a condom I bought for my 300D. I sold the camera meanwhile, and have yet to try and see if it fits my new 20D. I can make some pics tonight and put them online. Carlos Martins Portugal www.cj.smugmug.com
  20. Hi, This side of the Atlantic you can find one through http://www.x-shut.com/de/preise/preise.html for 48 Euro. Their website is geman only, but they do answer e-mails in english. Carlos Martins Portugal www.cj.smugmug.com
  21. A friend of mine lost a 20D (and the Canon EF 15 mm I was loaning him). He bumped his head on another guy's butt and the mounting thread on the 20D broke. The screw and correspondent thread stood in the helmet. I know a guy who leashes his stills using a piece of string and two small carabiners runing throug the points where the neck strap usually goes. Everything is kept inside the neoprene condom so it looks clean and snagless. Cheap (and clever) insurance IMHO! Carlos Martins Portugal www.cj.smugmug.com
  22. 40" keyboard ????? Carlos Martins Portugal www.cj.smugmug.com
  23. I am a smugger myself. It is sort of flatrate - the standard account costs twenty something $/year and has no storage limit. Bandwidth for browsing is huge, and if you go over it, smugmug will tolerate it for sometime. I never paid a dime extra. Smugmug is a business ran by real people that answer all your doubts and apprecciate your suggestions. They have real nice features and develop others all the time. I really like it! www.smugmug.com Carlos Martins Portugal www.cj.smugmug.com
  24. The thread is non metric, so it is very hard (impossible?) to find this side of the Atlantic. I think I'm gonna rethread mine to accept M2 nylon screws. Anyway if you find the bloody screws let us know where. I need a few and know some guys who need them also. Carlos Martins Portugal www.cj.smugmug.com
