This is not my area of expertise so I’m afraid I cannot offer any direct advice. I do think your treatment by your former employers has been deplorable though. Your employers may be able to argue that trespass amounts to misconduct but this argument may turn on any number of factors in the case law, or your own contract. I’m not in a position to comment on it. On the other hand, you could certainly argue that their knowledge of your activities and subsequent inaction for over 2 years amounts to their acceptance of them… but again it’s a grey argument to be getting into. All I can really do is offer contacts. I must stress though that I am not familiar with the employment departments of the following firms. I take this information from Chambers, which lists a number of firms as being the “leading” firms in this area. (Chambers is a big book of law firms listing their specialisations and standing within the industry). For Oxford, the top two firms in employment law are Henmans and

Virtually evenyone has thread-through leg straps these days. I bet they're what you are jumping now. B-12 snaps are those clip together leg straps you get on some student rigs or on very old rigs. They are very uncommon on modern rigs. I probably don't need to answer the rest of your questions if you know what B-12's are... I bet you don't want them.

Exactly - my question was rhetorical and you've hit the real answer on the head. Not that I'd complain about the format of the legislation, I think the results ought to be just about perfect... assuming it works right. There are a couple of outstanding questions I have about the precise interpretation to be given to certain terms however.
-
Apparently yes - thats what the industry's saying at least. I'm surprised that the last line of the quoted article contradicts whats in evey other media today. I can well believe it given the competition they face on alcohol from other bars. You can't go into a pub without seeing some drink deal or promotion. In my exp. yes 90% of pubs probably do serve food. I'm just curious about Night clubs - not many of them do... pity - those are the places I'd most like to see smoke free. I do find the govt.'s choice of distinction odd though. This regulation is supposed to protect people at work - the idea is to ban smoking in the work place and thus ensure no one is forced to endure passive smoke at work... why the ban based on food service then? Regardless of it's apparently illogical reasoning, I think the result it will produce will probably be the best available and welcome it. Not that I wouldn't have welcomed a complete ban of course.

90% + of our pubs serve food. That's where all the money is in the industry - if they stopped serving food they'd stop turning a profit. The ban's good... I really look forward to seeing it come into force. We're technically kinda following Irelands lead... them and Scotland. I think the rule about non food serving pubs is a concession to smokers - it' might work quite well as it will lead to 10% of pubs being smoker havens while the rest of us are free to enjoy the rest of the world un-hampered by a horrid fog.

Oh God. My cat LOVES mint... and he can jump/climb.

Maybe 3. Remember the list of those involved was doctored by the CIA before publication to remove all US companies and individuals. All we know is that they exist - not who they are.

What can we do about Skyride?
mr2mk1g replied to ChasingBlueSky's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I've got it!!! All you do is call them up and ask to buy 10 tandems at $165. Cool they say - that's $1650 base price - now all you need is gear rental and FJC. "No thanks" you reply, "I have my own gear and I already know how to do it... all I want are the tickets to altitude - Cheers". Then just redeem the vouchers and pocket the money. If they're going to try and fuck people they shouldn't be surprised if people try to fuck them. What do you mean it wouldn't work? -
I'm personally still waiting to hear when the US govt. deems it appropriate to release all the names of US individuals and companies who received oil for food vouchers. Remember the CIA deleted all US names from the list before it was published. I don't get that - if one group of people are worthy of outing why is another group worthy of the protection?

I went to see this flick last night with my gf. I have to say it is an absolutely appalling film, with every over-done, over-used cliché in the book. There were no laughs (for me at least) and in my opinion it fails on virtually every level. I can't even claim it was particularly well made. I’ve seen far worse in terms of skydiving scenes… but it’s entirely gratuitous and simply plays on the old bum sliding down the fireman’s pole scene in the first film. My gf even thought it was shit. It’s simply a poor re-make of the original film and pretty much follows the same basic plotline... but without the finesse of the first film. I wouldn’t bother if I were you.

According to the manufacturer himself, he stopped making the FFX because after some modifications to the original FF2 - it was just as snag proof as the FFX and yet also had the advantage of being able to access the camera from the outside. This meant that there was no advantage to having an FFX over the FF2 meaning it was far less popular so I guess there was no longer any point to producing it. Last time I was round the factory they had a few FFX shells sat round so if you really wanted one I wouldn’t be surprised if they could sell you one... maybe even make you one from the old moulds if you asked nicely - you never know. Also last time I checked DZ sports (UK dealer) had an FFX waiting to be sold... again you'd have to ask - here: http://www.dzsports.com/main.html

Trying different dropzones UK
mr2mk1g replied to julesshrew's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I'm afraid to say that this is pretty standard here. I see it virtually every weekend. Nowhere, not even the DZ's mentioned in this thread as being exceptionally good are immune to this. I was at one of those mentioned in this thread – apparently one which doesn’t have these problems with students. My friend was trying to get on an S/L jump this weekend. He was current and had jumped only a week ago, yet he waited best part of 3 days and kept getting shifted down the cue... finally got done on Sunday evening just before dark. Even with three planes they still didn't even get past the tip of the iceberg in terms of the money they could have earned from the students they had. Most got 1 jump, but not all... and they had 3 planes available. If they'd pulled their finger out they could have had all the students jumped several times and made much more money that weekend. The students would have been far happier for it too instead of just having to sit around and watch the exp. people jump. -
Sore neck - how to make it better?
mr2mk1g replied to el_chester's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Get physiotherapy. It works wonders, feels great, and shortens recovery time significantly. If there's no one around with exp. a simple sports or deep tissue massage will be better than nothing. Explain what happened, put it in terms they’ll understand like compairing it to a whiplash injury. Explain the mechanism of injury (which way your head moved etc) and they’ll know what to do. Take anti-inflammatorys and try not to do anything that aggravates the pain. -
Just yanking your chain We all have to be perfect posting here or someone'll point it out to ya'.

I did - that's why I added the missing correct information. Ask anyone in the UK and they'll know it as a G92... not any one of the other dozen or so Do28 variants.

That's right, James Royston Bond of Horfield, Bristol. He was in the Crown Court this morning and remanded till the 23rd. I wonder if his counsel will plead that he had a license to kill? http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/bristol/4012795.stm

You want us to comment on your central point? That "Britain" "seeks" to "impose" our laws on the US? Get real. Your story simply says: A politician said: He's not trying to "impose" anything on anyone. He's hoping the US administration looks at what the UK administration did in 97. I trust they have looked at it - they'd be foolish not to. Not to say they'd be foolish not to act on it - that's a different question all together. As for the phrase: "Britain urged" - that is the authors own, NOT that of the politician... you don't show ANYTHING simply by pointing to newspaper editorial content alone. Newspaper hacks are responsible for some of the worst inaccuracies in society - you only have to look at a skydiving incident report for examples of that. For a proof reader you make remarkable leaps in your interpretation of the English language.

The plane is a Dornia G92... biiiig uprated engines - v. fast jumpship. I jumped it yesterday.

Nice post Nac. It’s sad that the recent tactic adopted by some of directly attacking groups or classes of individuals as a deliberate attempt to circumvent the rules of this forum has gone unchecked. I do not blame the moderators; they have not been provided with rules under which they may prevent such attacks. Nor do I blame whoever drafted the rules; such underhanded attacks are outside of what could have been foreseen. I hope the trend now ceases given that its true intent has become obvious to all. Should it not, I hope the moderators are given the powers to enforce the principals held dear to the owner of this site as opposed to simply the letter of the law as it now stands. Have a nice weekend guys.

What can we do about Skyride?
mr2mk1g replied to ChasingBlueSky's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Sorry if this has been discussed - the idea popped into my head after a long absence from the thread. Has anyone thought of contacting skyride's internet service providers or whoever hosts their websites? I'm sure they would be rather interested to hear how they were hosting copyrighted material that had been stolen from other sites. There's a long list of websites pulled by their providers for breaching copyright.
