  1. He would have got that treatment just as fast under a social health care system. The waiting lists are as much about triage as anything else - thus urgent ops. such as that go first knocking less urgent ops back on the time scale.
  2. What I'm trying to explain the difference between is on the one hand those spring, electric or gas powered plastic BB guns firing neon yellow plastic 6mm balls; and on the other hand those substantial metal and wood rifled air weapons which fire .177 or .22 lead pellets at a high fps. I have a feeling in the US a "BB Gun" is a little different to a "BB Gun" in the UK - you aint gonna kill much more than a slug with the things we refer to as BB guns. I've seen a starling shot by a HOP-UP BB gun... the BB bounced off its breast and the bird flew off. Then my friend got a clip round the ear from me.
  3. That's pretty much all this bill is asking of them. They're not required to supply the morning after pill, but at least they should advise the patient that such things exist.
  4. We like to have sex. The location is of secondary concern.
  5. The next post after mine better have a snopes link on it... brass helmet indeed.
  6. Well nice catch then. Hope it all turns out to be benign.
  7. Don't worry about it Amanduh, each and every one of this guys posts has been off the wall and solicited heated response. I guess we can all conclude what kind of poster they are. The statement you've replied to is actually one of the more main stream ones.
  8. Mine already has - a friend collected it for me and I'm meeting up with them tonight.
  9. My fav's the JATO STOL rockets on the back of an Impala... shame the author(s) go overboard and make it seem totally implausible in the end.
  10. That's more than I'd ever hoped to achieve with anything I’ve write here. If you still disagree with me afterwards then that’s still cool.
  11. Exactly - Catholics don't believe that giving out information is wrong. They believe that making use of contraception is wrong. No one's making them do anything which they consider to be wrong.
  12. Still it's good for a chuckle at least.
  13. Could'a sworn this one did the rounds a couple of years ago...
  14. All they are being required to do is say that the morning after pill exists and that it would prevent pregnancy. They must believe in that - it's scientific fact. What they don't believe in is the morals of making use of the pill - they're not being required to make use of the pill nor even advocate its use, just note that it exists and what it does. I simply can't see where any beliefs are being forced. Ah well, if we disagree, we disagree. C'est la vie.
  15. Cool - no beliefs are being forced down anyone's throats here. See no one believes that it is wrong to possess knowledge of the existence of the contraceptive pill and what its function is.
  16. Does the Catholic church say people should not know about contraceptive methods or that they should not make use of contraceptive methods? Does one go to Hell for simply possessing the knowledge or perhaps for passing that knowledge on? Or is it only the use of contraceptives that will condemn your soul to Purgatory? One would suppose the Pope knew of contraceptives as he issued edicts concerning their use... ought he be condemned? Now, what is it that this bill is asking medics to do? Is it asking them to make use of contraceptives or simply provide knowledge of their existence? Ought the aid who told the Pope about the morning after pill be condemned because he spread knowledge of their existence and apparently according to some, that in its self is against the Catholic doctrine?
  17. One problem I see is that people often don't know the difference between a BB gun and an air rifle. A BB gun can produce a nasty welt at close range, hurt a little at a distance and maybe take an eye out if you’re a twat with it. An air gun can kill quite easily. I've had high powered air rifles since I was 8 and used to hunt with them on a daily basis. They're not firearms, but they need to be treated with respect nonetheless. As a teen I had to have a pellet removed from my stomach (ie from within the abdominal skin, not the stomach itself) after I was hit by a ricochet. That was just a ricochet... traveling almost precisely 180deg. from its original flight path and it still had enough velocity to lodge under my skin. Kids (and many parents) think all air weapons are the same; that they’re all just toys for plinking and putting holes in paper targets. Hell, there are organized games akin to paintball in this country using BB guns, (great fun BTW and knocks the socks of paintball). As the public has far more exposure to this kind of air weapon they assume all work like that and all are just as safe. This ignorance even extends to the US pro gun lobby – I remember having to explain to people on this site why Brockock style air guns were being included in firearms legislation. At the end of the day, stupid is as stupid does. Having someone shoot you with an air rifle is going on as stupid as it gets.
  18. [Dr. Nick] But the label said it was "Inflammable". [/Dr. Nick]
  19. Perhaps they should sue the Oil companies who made the petrol.
  20. Well.... the A-Team then... and just like in true A-Team form the invention he creates while locked in the loo won't actually hurt anybody.
