  1. The girl should have been armed, obviously.
  2. Presumably they replaced each one for you no-quibble?
  3. Nope - still blindfolded and just as unable to canopy check his reserve as he was his main. It wouldn't have been my choice of action. When it comes to legstraps, tight is right. Just make sure they're not so tight as to be cutting off your circulation and whatever kind of junk you have isn't caught under them.
  4. I've seen virtually exactly the same thing happen before. Chap exited on an early freefall jump in static line progression. Was seen from the plane to have a good canopy then a few moments later he cut away for no apparent reason and landed under his reserve. I chatted to him later on the ground and he said when the canopy opened the container shifted upwards on his back and pushed the back of his helmet up so that the front came down over his eyes, blindfolding him. He thought everything felt like it had opened fine but as he couldn't look to check canopy he thought "better safe than sorry" and performed his reserve drills.
  5. Dave can start an Otter's engines with willpower alone; he only uses a start cart so the other pilots don't feel bad.
  6. Have you made sure you've switched the volume to high? It does have two settings...
  7. Maybe he just hooked up with someone hotter after you left?
  8. Dude is protecting the rights and freedoms of every proud American...he should be able to give himself a cool name! You have a problem with that? Mine's Rainbow Cobra. Careful now, sounds a bit gay.
  9. This. I can't imagine how much arseache it would be try and sneek around behind your loved-one's back.

  11. No idea if a DZ will consider renting you a tandem but you should be aware that the malfunction tree as well as the number and location of handles are very different to that on a sport rig and indeed differ from model to model. You probably don't want to just throw a tandem rig on and go make a skydive without full ground tuition.
  12. You'll likely not be getting a USPA license (United States Parachute Association) in Texel. More likely you'll be getting the Dutch equivalent, together with an FIA (Fédération Aéronautique Internationale) license. The FIA license is the international license but in practice I expect virtually any national license is going to be recognised throughout the world. Once you're licensed you'll want to build on your core skills and will probably settle into one of the many sub-disciplines (there are many different sports within the sport). In principle though, you can do whatever you like, subject to the need to be sufficiently skilled to do so safely. Don't think you're going to be wing suiting off cliffs after 20 jumps, but to answer the question 'what can I do after AFF' – you can start along the road to anything you want to do, pretty much anywhere you want to do it.
  13. I've seen a student cypres pop on two occasions because the instructor failed to talk to the pilot.
  14. As RMK said - have one made. Find a good artisan jeweller and commission one. You'll get far more ring for your money, it will be unique and so much more personal than one picked out of a selection in a store. "Oh it's beautiful, where ever did you find it"! "Darling, I had it made for you". As the line goes - she'd pretty much have to.
  15. In my experiance, everyone's ditter goes off at 1,000ft and everyone automatically starts taking their seatbelt off. I sit there quietly and watch and attempt to see that each and every person between me and the door has taken their seatbelt off. I then take mine off - usually means that happens around 1,500ft. If they're still strapped in and they're in my way, I might as well still have my belt on too.

    Cheeky Nandos

It's like the spoon in the Matrix. One must first realise that there is no cheeky Nandos. One can only have a cheeky Nandos. Except I wouldn't as I think Nandos is gopping (and that has nothing to do with the Republicans BTW). HTH
  17. I didn't know a Vigil could give jump data. It logged a 3s freefall on my last wingsuit jump from 12,200'. Not very useful.why would you do a clear and pull at altitude in a wingsuit ?? Solo XRW?
  18. From your discription this thing could kill the RSL debate dead. It would know not only if you're at deployment altitude but body orientation and whether you are spinning, thus giving you the option to get stable if you had altitude to trade for time or just fire if there's not enough altitude to wait. Why ever have a mechanical RSL? This thing could fire right away if nesc per a traditional RSL or wait and give you time to get stable per the anti-RSL crowd. The only thing an RSL could add would be the option of a MARD.
  19. In concept, sure, and hopefully market forces would take care of the problem. But you run the risk of going back to the days of shops with signs out front saying "no blacks, no Irish, no dogs gays".
  20. Skeet. It'd be like a flying pinata.
  21. Its been a long time since I was made to learn latin, but I think 'habeo reditus' might be better. From memory 'tergum' was used as a noun as in 'the back of something', rather than a verb. That was 25+ years ago though, so I may well be wrong. And who said learning a dead language was pointless...? Now write it out a hundred times or I'll cut your balls off.
  22. Do they even need a new law? Is it currently illegal for under 21's to run beer round their mouths and spit it out? Surely the existing law criminalises their consuming it?
