QuoteGreat, a high risk jump is going to be handled with something as frivolous as a raffle. Whatever. My 2 cents is if you plan on doing a 30K jump, do it right, not at a freakin' boogie. Find someone who knows what they are doing and does it right. My suggestion would be SkyDance SkyDiving. They have been doing it for quite a number of years, with an extremely professional organizer brought in each time to coordinate the event. Chamber ride is required so you can see the physiological effects of 30K+ altitudes before you go. [url] ________________________________________________ Very well put. When Apple Valley was open I spent 2 years teaching high altitude jumping to skydivers. We provided everything need, ground training, O2 equipment and the ride to 30,000. Believe me, if it is done "right" it is worth at least $350. If it is not done "right" it can get you killed. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Have you ever been injured while skydiving?
mjosparky replied to Clownburner's topic in Safety and Training
I broke both ankles landing on a night jump. The good thing is, you don't wear out one tennis shoe. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals -
I don't anyone said they woun't take the opening, it just is not smart to trust you life to an overloaded canopy, both for opening and landing. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

TSA Demo Waiver Process Changes Effective immediately, the Transportation Security Administration has changed the process for issuing waivers to allow demo jumps into large stadium events. The TSA now requires that demo skydivers apply for and receive a TSA waiver. Previously, only the pilot needed to submit a waiver request. Additionally, the TSA now requires a letter from the event or stadium sponsor. Finally, the agency says waiver requests should be submitted at least seven to ten business days in advance, rather than five to seven days as before. FAA Notam 3/1862 (http://www1.faa.gov/SPECIALNOTAMS/Special_Interest_Notams.htm#1862 ) describes the stadiums and events that automatically receive a Temporary Flight Restriction, which covers the stadium from 3,000 feet to the surface at a radial distance of three nautical miles. Any aviation activity that takes place within that airspace needs to receive a waiver from the TSA, demo jumps included. The TSA waiver is separate from any necessary FAA Certificate of Authorization issued by an FAA Flight Standards District Office. Go to http://www1.faa.gov/ats/ata/waiver/ (an FAA website) for the online application for a TSA waiver. Each person must complete the form, with jumpers entering information requested of “pilots.” Jumpers should enter “skydiver” where the form asks “FAA Pilot Certificate Number.” Forty-eight hours after the forms are submitted, the organizer should fax to the TSA (fax: 571-227-2948) a letter from the event/stadium sponsor saying that skydiving is desired. The TSA will process the application within seven to ten business days, at the completion of which each person submitting a waiver application will receive a letter from the TSA authorizing a waiver. About 3 years ago I rushed to make an 8 way and just made the plane. We pull a 5 way off the plane, great, finnish up with 11 points for a pick up load. I turn and track and I notice my rig is blowing off my shoulders. I look down and "Oh Shit" chest strap completely undone. The rig came with velcro on the chest strap and I had ran it through the fitting and mated the velcro. Sometime during the dive it had come loose. I waved off and sat straight up, threw the pc and crossed my arms over my head. The risers slapped the shit out of my arms but I did not fall out. As soon as I landed I cut the velcro off and to this day when I see it on a rig I jump all over the person wearing it. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals -

Once you get your ratings, lic. and other shit there is not reason to log. But I still log every jump with some comments. My log books don't mean anything to anyone but me, and to me they are very important. I can read through them and think back on where I've been and what I've done.
