  1. I think Alan is right, if you get down and dirty and your AAD fires, you are stupid. It has happened to me before cypres and I was stupid as hell. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  2. I have down loaded it for bedtime reading. Way to go! Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  3. It is not a good idea to carry any demo gear behind you. It is best carried infront where you can keep an eye on it. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  4. Thanks Lisa, Da why didn't I think of that? Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  5. Does anyone have a source for hackeys for pc's Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  6. You say most manufacturers frown on them, but most manufacturere use them in their shop. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  7. I never did see you at Perris, Mike. That said, I disagree about being cargo. Yes, with static line your freefall learning curve is not large (OK, it's really small, especially compared with AFF); but it gives you canopy focus time. Static line is just different -- if you like mastering bits, static line's better. If you like jumping in the water to see if you can swim, AFF is. Wendy W. Sorry I missed you. I came back from Texas with pneumonia. Am just now getting back around. I have been doing testing for over 20 years and I just hate to see someone try to learn skydiving from the end of a 12 foot rope. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

  9. Teresa, Stick with AFF. With static line your first 5 jumps you are cargo. You want to learn how to skydive not be a drop test dummy. The important thing you need to learn is smile and have fun. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  10. You may have seen" plenty of cut aways" but you did not see any with 2 shots. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  11. For $1200 you can by a computer with all the whistles and bells and is able to multi task. Cypres does one thing, save you life. Something to think about? Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  12. I jump flags of various sizes up to 600 sq. ft. My canopy is a 245 sq. ft. sharpchuter and the 600 sq. ft. flag is right at the limit of the canopy. I have not jumped a spectre but I would advise you start small, 10x15 and work up. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  13. It looks like the canopy reinflated after he landed and started getting out of his rig. opps! Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  14. You got more exposure to parachute equipment and rigging in 3 months then most will get in 10 years. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  15. Brian, They are part of a series of 8 to 10 originals that Pat did in the early 70's. You might contact him and see if he can provide you with a set. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  16. Get your ass up, your shoulders cupped, your chin on your chest, point your toes, and push down with your hands and arms. Like Hook said, if you don't hurt after just a 3000 ft. track, you are doing it right. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  17. Have a rigger look it over. If he clears it the price is good. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  18. Scratch, Pat probably does not remember writhing the book and you are to damn old to read it. LOL Pat is still jumping, I talked with him and Jan a couple of week ago. He is walking with a cane though. Sparky Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  19. Andy, I do just a quick roll with no pause. I was thinking, if you backtrack would you barrel roll to see whats under you? LOL My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  20. First of all, you should not let your friend drive with out supervision. Does he think if you jump from a big chopper you will get to terminal faster then jumping from a little one? Because the human body has a L/D of less then one, your vertical speed is a little faster in a track. In a track use that extra speed to move vertical. 21. If I'm on a larger dive, and I am not sure where everyone is, I will pull a barrel-roll halfway through my track to take a look. If I do it at my halfway point I can immediately modify my direction. If I did it at the end of my track that would mean that I would possibly have to take my deployment lower if someone was above me. At 2000 feet I have no friends and my PC is coming out. I have been using this method, barrel roll at about 3000 ft. for over twenty years and find it works well. Like anything else we do in the air it takes practice. 22. Lisa, Next time I am at Perris get ahold of me and I will make sure you become "Air Trash". I have be a member since 1979. And then there is Cardnial Puff. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  23. After the last jump of the weekend I do not pack. During the week I will go over the complete system and then pack. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  24. Remember, there is a big difference between exiting at 1000 ft. and being at 1000 ft. at terminal. If you go through 1000 ft. in freefall, you have about 5 sec. until impact, with only about 3 sec. of working time. If you exit at 1000 ft. you will have about 9 sec. before impact and about 7 sec. working time. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  25. I got a chuckle just thinking about my rigger with his head up my cells. I would even pay money to see that! (just not a lot of money) If your rigger won't do, it who will? Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
