    You've taken my words out of context. I referenced trees as something to look at during a pattern, not in freefall. I also didn't suggest counting panes in windows. This is not out of context. If you are at an altitude where you can focus on the window in a house you are fucked. I mentioned trees because people will tend to take your statements out of context and think trees are a good reference anytime during a skydive. It wasn’t meant as a flame so chill.     Never rely on anything that grows trees, bushes and such. By the time you figure out if it is a bush or a tree it is too late. Use houses and cars, they are always about the same size.     If you're not ready for a 150 main which you'll be familiar with and have 2000' to fly back to a nice wide open field where you land into the wind you're not ready for a 150 reserve which you'll be unfamiliar with and likely to have half that altitude to learn to fly it to an out landing which is small, has obstacles, and may be down or cross-wind. Now this is good advice. If you are not ready for a 150 main you have no busness on a 150 reserve.     If you are wearing only one flotation device it should be attached to you not your gear. After you land in water the first thing you should do is get out of you gear and swim away from it.
