Downwinders with rollerblades

Dress up like this guy and no problem. Sparky [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NXWK8FE5kuw My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals -
davelepka We are talking about a canopy that is 370 sq. ft. and has cell openings the size of a car door. You can’t compare the opening performance of the smaller 9 cell sport canopies to something like the MT-1X. He asked what I would do and that’s what I posted. I have more than a few jumps on that system at altitudes up to 30,000 ft. with openings around 20,000 ft. Anvilbrother I did some research and found out that the slider you have now is the wrong size. You need to have one 27” x 28” with the 27” going front to back. I also found the Para Flite is using a lipped slider on the MT-1Z canopy. You might give one of then a try. I still would recommend the canopy mod I posted. I would stick with the slider like the one you have and try the canopy mod. When it packed it is critical that the slider is kept tight against the stops. If it is allowed to move down the lines just an inch it will knock your dick in the dirt. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

You might try covering the opening of the center 3 cells from the top skin down about 5/6 inches. (see attachment) I did this to a Sharpchuter and it made all the difference in the world. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

You may not have been aware of it but you had to have some type of pressure reducer of some type. If you breathe O2 at 500 psi it will blow your lungs out. That is over 30 times the pressure you encounter at sea level. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

A disturbing PM I recieved...bad advice???
mjosparky replied to discovery4's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
The fatality reports are full of jumper with mad skills that knew what they were doing. Just because this turd got away with does not mean it was smart. It is to no ones advantage to try and hold you back and no one is trying to keep you from having fun. As Grimmie said there are good reasons for the limitation put on newer jumper, it so they can live long enough to become older jumpers Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals -
I would prefer a Sentinel AOD. http://www.flickr.com/photos/43867826@N07/4387443550/ Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

I have tried it. I used to run the high altitude training program at Apple Valley and as a civilian contractor did high altitude test work for the Navy at China Lake and YPG. Also did several test for the Canadian military at a place called Cold Lake. I have more than a few jumps from above 24,000 feet working as both jumpmaster and phys. tech. If you think that my advising people not to use homemade equipment for high altitude jumps then so be it. You may have done it in the past but that does not make the smart thing to do. From your description of your system it sounds like you did not include some of the safety related parts that allow you to monitor equipment function and O2 levels. Moister and debris filters, flow indicators and an Airox III to regulate inhalation flow and control back pressure during exhalation. While high altitude jumps can be done safely they add several layers of added risk and complexity to the jump. If something goes wrong a jumper could end up crippled or dead. 30,000 feet is not the place to be depending on home made equipment. A lot of things were done 30 or 40 years ago and some of those things where not such a bright idea. Some survived, so did not. The information about the physiological effects of high altitude is readily available as it the proper equipment. A HALO jump is not the time to go on the cheap. This is the first line of your reference on the definition of design. Seems like your own link disagrees with you. No generally-accepted definition of “design” exists[1], and the term has different connotations in different fields (see design disciplines below). I think in the end it is a matter of personnal choice. What a person is comfortable with. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

What could cause a backward turn?

Take this problem to your instructor that is what you are paying him for. Get video or see if he will jump with you for a firsthand look. Most advice you get on the net is worth just what you pay for it. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals -
You mean one of these? Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

The requirement for the pilot and other non-jumpers to wear an Approved emergency parachute if there is one is listed on in the STC issued for operation with door removed. The only reference to the use of a parachute is FAR Part 91.107. See attachments. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

You have almost 200 jumps and don't know what color your reserve it? Do you what size it is? Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Find out when they fire before you jump them. Ask questions, what kind of main, what kind of reserve. Don’t get on the plane until you know what is on your back. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Pulling the reserve handle does not deploy the reserve either - it just pulls the pin. Now you got it. But at least that is a proactive act by the jumper. If you have an AAD fire and are not unconscious, you fucked up. I used to live by the rule, “pull all your handles and let the riggers figure it out”. When you thought they were coming out. I feel this can lead to a mindset where you will give it just one more try, just one more try. This leads to many of the 2 out situations me have been seeing the last few years. As I said, I make my decision quickly and never second guess it. When things turn to shit one of the best friends you have is altitude. Don’t give it up on a maybe. Jmo Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

If you want an altimeter for skydiving buy one. If you want a watch buy one. Why would what something that does both and hard to see at 120+ mph. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
-
Funny you should say that. I consciously avoid factoring that into the decision. When it's time to go, it's time to go, and worry about the landing and finding the stuff later. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
-
I would try to be open you 2,000 ft. When I deploy I look up and if I can land it I do. If I don’t think I can land it, it is history. I don’t do rigging in the air. In almost every case a malfunctioning square parachute will do nothing but get worse. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

First off a modern AAD does not deploy your reserve; it is designed to do one thing and one thing only. And that is to cut the closing loop of the reserve container... If you are going to come up with ways to fix the wheel you should at least know how the wheel works. You throw percentages and figures around as if you have access to some major study on the effectiveness of AAD’s. As Tom said, I think you are making things up to support what you are saying. There are several cases where the AAD fired and the jumper still went in. But I challenge you name one incident where the AAD failed to do what it was designed to do and the jumper died. This is how bull shit becomes fact. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
