  1. I disagree. An incident is an incident is an incident. There's always a lesson to be learned, you may already know it, but I may not. Why squelch the reporting of incidents simply because they happened years ago? Now, my little rant on the Incidents forum... I'd like to see it reserved for fatalities and near fatalities with severe physical trauma; everything else can go in S&T. That however, is a rant for another day. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  2. How about the heads of state and military officers of those countries that went in there with us? Kallend, should they be included as well? - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  3. Possibly, but even the shittiest of the shitbags most likely has a will to live and will do what he can to protect himself - kill the enemy. I'm thinking that if we had enough quality volunteers that we wouldn't have a need for the draft. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  4. Yes, the United States allows for Conscientious Objectors to escape military service, though COs can be required to serve in an alternate capacity. From http://www.sss.gov/FSconsobj.htm. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  5. My thoughts exactly. Are you suggesting that fleeing after you're called would be cause for removal/revokation/suspension of citizenship? - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  6. What do you suppose the punishment for that ought to be? Me, I think it should be severe. Our/Your country isn't perfect (no one is), but since you haven't packed up and moved elsewhere I have to assume that it's good enough for you. Should you be allowed to enjoy the benefits of citizenship without giving back when called upon to do so? - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  7. Yeah, another gun thread. Deal with it. From a story found at Yahoo!. Yeah, uh huh. I'm sure that the killings will skyrocket the day after the sunset. Is there an agenda that can't be pushed these days by the threat of terrorism? Neat quote, too bad it's not true. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  8. Solaris is unusual? I remember back in the day that the folks at QNX used to distribute a floppy image that booted the OS, an X session (complete with browser), and a PPP/SLIP (anyone remember SLIP?) dialer. Not bad for a floppy. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  9. They must be referring to those guns that have barrels and triggers and fire bullets. When will this madness stop? When? - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

  12. Of the 30,000 USPA members it's probably important to know how many bought memberships for tandem or AFF programs, but never renewed. Would a better measure be to determine the number of existing members who renewed over a one or two year period? I would think that those who bought memberships on a whim wouldn't renew, and those who have left the sport probably wouldn't renew either. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. 13. You can sign anything in the world, but there's nothing that can prevent you from taking someone, or some dropzone to court. The defendant NEEDS to show up and at least TRY to defend himself, otherwise it's a automatic win for the plaintiff. See the problem? - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. 14. Interesting viewpoint. In your first statement you claim that it is "flat out wrong", but then go on to say that you'd likely do it anyhow. Where do you draw the line? Would you do anything to save the life of your child? What about your wife; parents; girlfriend; best friend? Interesting. Who else shares this viewpoint? - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  15. I've got a PD160 that I've had the pleasure of putting one jump on. My current canopy is a 159 and my next canopy is likely to be in the 150 range, I'm sticking with the 160 reserve. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

  21. Agreed. Why are people intent on voting for either Kerry or Bush. Most people are aware that this isn't simply a two party system. Do you agree with Kerry's position on the issues that matter to you? Do you agree with another candidate's positions more than you agree with Kerry? To everyone who is voting "against the other guy", but not for the guy you believe in. Why? Why not vote for the candidate you believe will best represent your interests? It doesn't have to be Bush, it doesn't have to be Kerry, but it SHOULD be for the person you believe in. Seems to me that a vote "against the other guy" is just a wasted vote. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
