  1. Very interesting. This is the first time I've heard of what they did to 'fix' the problem. When you remember the other design corrections can you post them? I, too, had severe opening problems with the Sabre2-135 I demoed several months ago. It was from the first line of production and has been returned to PD. The openings were so bizarre that I actually started to get 'canopy opening fright' and decided against purchase. It took -several- jumps on my trusty Spectre to finally get back in the groove again and not flinch at the opening sequence. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  2. Yes...I -hope- this can be the answer. Mirage and Infinity containers have a 28" pc for canopies over 150 sq ft and use a 26" for 150 and smaller. Don't know why Javelins can't come that way too. At over $200 a pop, I hope I can just trade this one out for the other if there is someone who wants to swap. But...what if this doesn't help? Any other suggestions on how to slow down the deployment speed? (canopy packing and opening are fine, but the snatch and line stretch are the problem here). ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  3. Ok...here's another question. --Had my Spectre-135 relined by PD this past week. (430 jumps on it) --Had my old pc/d-bag stolen by someone during night jumps that weekend (it was detached from the main I was borrowing...and it walked away) --Got my main back and used an old tired pc/d-bag from the school while I waited for a new set to come from SunPath (Javelin container, ya know) --Put 8 jumps in the main this way with BEAUTIFUL openings that were so sweet!!! Soft, on heading and wonderful! --Then comes the new d-bag and pc. 28" F-111 pc and 3 grommet d-bag. --Packing the exact same way as before. SLAMMER snatch force/line stretch that sits me up in the saddle before the canopy has the chance to try and inflate! Then followed by a sharp opening! 16 jumps this way (team training and needed to keep going). --Tried various 'fixes' with each successive jump: 1) bigger bites, 2) double wrapping my 2nd and 3rd locking stows 3) smaller rubber bands 4) throwing the pc onto my back instead of out into open air (this actually worked pretty good, but I don't like the idea) 5) sitting up just before deployment (chest high) before dumping (the snatch force is too quick to do this -after-) 6) Thought about getting a hole punch and putting holes in the pc fabric (j/k) Talked to riggers, instructors, other cameraflyers, Square1, and also called SunPath on Monday morning. They only make the 28" (and I wanted to try a 26" out and see if this would help). Their d-bag and pc come stitched together since 1998...so I couldn't swap pc's out anyway! Any thoughts on this subject? riggerrob? Anyone! Sore neck cameraflyer, ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

  6. Thanks for the info. Can the Torsans be made with prescription lenses as well? ltdiver Oh..btw, you'd look 'cool' in -anything- you wear.
  7. Andrea, Have to run to work right now, but here's a start for you today on this... See: http://www.stratoquest.com/ ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  8. BEEEEEERRRRR!!!!! heh heh heh..... Ooppssss, got caught! I'll buy for you next time we're at the DZ and the green light's on. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  9. Amazing thing...after thousands of jumps, THE Jim Wallace actually still logs his jumps! "The absence of evidence is not the same as evidence of absence" Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  10. Some people don't use log books after they get their 'D'. Silly I think, but I know of one person in particular that hasn't logged jumps in years, but still expects us to believe they should be a leader. Now, how do you deal with that one? ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  11. You're a good man, Paul. Thanks for the beer!

  13. Don't you find it unsettling that after 70 years of banning God from their country, Russia is now 'permitting' the belief once again. And at the same time, we as a country, are starting to boot Him out? ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  14. Quite correct. Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  15. Without a doubt, the DZ I visited after the 1997 World Game in Lahti, Finland! A few kilometers away in the town of Utti ! Beautiful green trees dotted by little lakes all around. Beautiful warm blue skies and across the gulf you could almost see St. Petersburg, Russia! I couldn't take pics from altitude, though. There's a military base right next door! web address: http://www.utti.org/english/ ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  16. Stevensville, eh? My sister and her family live there. Maybe I should take them up on the offer to visit them over the summer? Never been there. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  17. Keith! Your winning spirit and gentle demeanor always spoke volumes to me. You've shared some of your life's challenges with your friends and conquored them in stride. You have been an inspiration to me, that's for sure in this. Every day I visit you there are more exciting improvements. They might seem small right now, but believe me they are coming around more quickly than I've seen in most of my patients. Like today, you started moving your hand! I am amazed. Just wait until they let you out of that bed! You'll teach them! Keep the faith, Lori Thomas

  24. You must be related to Mark Brown, one of our AFFI's and L.O. at Perris. He has the exact same experiences. Practically 'trash-packs' his canopies now and they open sweet

    Cypres

However, (and this comes from personal experience) if you leave it on, then drive home from the DZ with it on, it will wear out the battery -much- faster than if you turn it off before leaving. Seems that if the Cypres senses a 50 foot elevation change, it switches from 'stand-by' to 'full activation' and the battery is draned at a higher rate. see: Cypres Batteries Personal expereince gained from when my Cypres battery went 'dead' (noticed by the number cycling down to '8998') within the first year and way before the 500 jumps. My drive home is 45 minutes and an elevation change from the DZ of 1,500 feet. Just FYI, ltdiver ____________________________________________ LightDiverCam
